Jeremiah 50

1 The word which the LORD spoke against Babylon, against the land of the Chaldeans, through the prophet Jeremiah:	1 Parola che il Signore pronunciò contro Babilonia, contro il paese dei Caldei, per mezzo del profeta Geremia.
2 Announce and publish it among the nations; publish it, hide it not, but say: Babylon is taken, Bel confounded, Merodach shattered; her images are put to shame, her idols shattered.	2 "Annunziatelo tra le nazioni, banditelo, elevate un vessillo; banditelo, non lo tenete nascosto. Dite: "E' presa Babilonia!". Si vergogna Bel, infranto è Marduch, vergognose sono le sue immagini, infrante sono le sue abominazioni!
3 A people from the north advances against her to turn her land into a desert, So that no one shall live there, because man and beast have fled away.	3 Infatti, sale contro di essa una nazione dal nord, la quale ridurrà il suo territorio a luogo desolato e non vi sarà più chi abiti in essa: dall'uomo al bestiame, tutti fuggono e se ne vanno.
4 In those days, at that time, says the LORD, the men of Israel and of Judah shall come, Weeping as they come, to seek the LORD, their God;	4 In quei giorni e in quel tempo, oracolo del Signore, verranno i figli d'Israele insieme ai figli di Giuda: avanzeranno camminando e piangendo mentre cercheranno il Signore, Dio loro.
5 to their goal in Zion they shall ask the way. "Come, let us join ourselves to the LORD with covenant everlasting, never to be forgotten."	5 Domanderanno di Sion, verso la quale volgeranno i loro volti: "Venite, aderiamo al Signore con un patto perpetuo che non sia mai più dimenticato".
6 Lost sheep were my people, their shepherds misled them, straggling on the mountains; From mountain to hill they wandered, losing the way to their fold.	6 Il mio popolo è stato un gregge di dispersi: l'han fatto deviare i suoi pastori, l'avevano disperso sui monti, andavano da monte a colle dimentichi del loro ovile.
7 Whoever came upon them devoured them, and their enemies said, "We incur no guilt, Because they sinned against the LORD, the hope of their fathers, their abode of justice."	7 Chiunque li incontrava li divorava, mentre i loro nemici dicevano: "Noi non commettiamo delitto, perché hanno peccato contro il Signore: pascolo di giustizia e speranza dei padri loro è il Signore!".
8 Flee from Babylon, leave the land of the Chaldeans, be like the rams at the head of the flock.	8 Fuggite di mezzo a Babilonia e dal paese dei Caldei uscite. Siate quali caproni dinanzi al gregge.
9 See, I am stirring up against Babylon a band of great nations from the north; from there they advance, and she shall be taken. Their arrows are arrows of the skilled warrior; none shall return without effect.	9 Sì, ecco: io sto per suscitare e far ascendere contro Babilonia un'assemblea di nazioni grandi dal paese del nord e si schiereranno contro di essa; da allora sarà presa. Le loro frecce sono come quelle di un eroe esperto, non ritornano invano.
10 Chaldea shall be their plunder, and all her plunderers shall be enriched, says the LORD.	10 Saranno i Caldei una preda, tutti i suoi depredatori si sazieranno.
11 Yes, rejoice and exult, you that plunder my portion; Frisk like calves on the green, snort like stallions!	11 Gioite e tripudiate, saccheggiatori della mia eredità! Sì, saltellate come giovenca che trebbia e nitrite come stalloni!
12 Your mother shall be sorely put to shame, she that bore you shall be abashed; See, the last of the nations, a desert, dry and waste.	12 Si vergogna assai la madre vostra, arrossisce la vostra genitrice. Ecco, essa è l'ultima nelle nazioni, deserto, arsura e steppa.
13 Because of the LORD'S wrath she shall be empty, and become a total desert; Everyone who passes by Babylon will be appalled and catch his breath, at all her wounds.	13 Per l'ira del Signore non sarà abitata, sarà un luogo desolato tutta intera. Ogni passante per Babilonia stupirà e fischierà su tutte le sue ferite.
14 Take your posts encircling Babylon, you who bend the bow; Shoot at her, spare not your arrows,	14 Schieratevi contro Babilonia all'intorno voi tutti, tiratori di arco; bersagliate, non risparmiate freccia, perché contro il Signore ha peccato.
15 raise the war cry against her on all sides. She surrenders, her bastions fall, her walls are torn down: Vengeance of the LORD is this! Take revenge on her, as she has done, do to her; for she sinned against the LORD.	15 Gridate contro di essa all'intorno. Essa alza la sua mano, cadono i suoi bastioni, rovinano le sue mura. Sì, vendetta del Signore è questa! Vendicatevi contro di essa: come ha fatto, fate ad essa.
16 Cut off from Babylon the sower and him who wields the sickle in harvest time! Before the destroying sword, each of them turns to his own people, everyone flees to his own land.	16 Sterminate il seminatore da Babilonia e chi impugna la falce in tempo di messe. Dinanzi alla spada affilata ognuno al suo popolo torni e ognuno al suo paese fugga.
17 A stray sheep was Israel that lions pursued; Formerly the king of Assyria devoured her, now Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon gnaws her bones.	17 Pecora errante era Israele, i leoni l'inseguirono. Primo l'ha divorata il re di Assiria, poi Nabucodònosor, re di Babilonia, ne ha stritolato le ossa".
18 Therefore, thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: I will punish the king of Babylon and his land, as once I punished the king of Assyria;	18 Perciò così dice il Signore degli eserciti, Dio d'Israele: "Ecco, sto per castigare il re di Babilonia e il suo paese, come ho castigato il re di Assiria.
19 But I will bring back Israel to her fold, to feed on Carmel and Bashan, And on Mount Ephraim and Gilead, till she has her fill.	19 Io ricondurrò Israele al suo pascolo e pascolerà sul Carmelo e nel Basàn, e per i monti di Efraim e del Gàlaad sazierà il suo appetito.
20 In those days, at that time, says the LORD: They shall seek Israel's guilt, but it shall be no more, and Judah's sins, but these shall no longer be found; for I will forgive the remnant I preserve.	20 In quei giorni e in quel tempo, oracolo del Signore, si ricercherà l'iniquità di Israele, ma non si troverà, e il peccato di Giuda, ma non si troverà, poiché perdonerò a chi farò restare.
21 Attack the land of Merathaim, and those who live in Pekod; Slaughter and doom them, says the LORD, do all I have commanded you.	21 Sali contro il paese di Meratàim e contro gli abitanti di Pekòd. Rovina e fa' sterminio dietro di loro, oracolo del Signore, fa' tutto come io ti ho comandato.

23 How has the hammer of the whole earth been broken and shattered! What an object of horror Babylon has become among the nations.	23 Come è rotto e spezzato il martello di tutta la terra, come è divenuta desolazione Babilonia tra le nazioni!
24 You ensnared yourself, and were caught, O Babylon, before you knew it! You were discovered and seized, because you challenged the LORD.	24 Ti ho teso un laccio e ti ho presa, Babilonia, e tu non lo sapevi! Fosti trovata e afferrata, perché contro il Signore ti sei irritata.
25 The LORD opens his armory and brings forth the weapons of his wrath; For the Lord GOD of hosts has work to do in the land of the Chaldeans.	25 Ha aperto il Signore il suo arsenale e ha estratto gli strumenti del suo sdegno: perché ha un dovere da compiere il Signore, Dio degli eserciti, nel paese dei Caldei.
26 Come upon her from every side, open her granaries, Pile up her goods in heaps and doom it, leave not a remnant.	26 Venite ad essa dalle estremità, aprite i suoi granai. Ammucchiatela come covoni e fate sterminio, non vi sia, per essa, un resto.
27 Slay all her oxen, let them go down to the slaughter; Woe to them! their day has come, the time of their punishment.	27 Uccidete tutti i suoi tori: scendano al macello. Guai a loro, perché è giunto il loro giorno, il tempo del loro castigo.
28 Listen! the fugitives, the escaped from the land of Babylon: They announce in Zion the vengeance of the LORD, our God.	28 Voce di fuggitivi e di scampati dal paese di Babilonia si ode, per annunziare in Sion la vendetta del Signore, Dio nostro, la vendetta del suo tempio.
29 Call up against Babylon archers, all who bend the bow; Encamp around her, let no one escape. Repay her for her deeds; as she has done, do to her, For she insulted the LORD, the Holy One of Israel.	29 Convocate contro Babilonia gli arcieri, tutti i tiratori d'arco; accampatevi contro di essa all'intorno, non ci sia per lei fuggitivo; rendetele secondo il suo operato, secondo tutto ciò che ha fatto, fate ad essa, poiché contro il Signore è stata insolente, contro il Santo di Israele.
30 Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets, all her warriors shall perish on that day, says the LORD.	30 Perciò: cadranno i suoi giovani nelle sue piazze e tutti gli uomini di guerra periranno in quel giorno. Oracolo del Signore.
31 I am against you, man of insolence, says the Lord GOD of hosts; For your day has come, the time for me to punish you.	31 Eccomi a te, superba, oracolo del Signore, Dio degli eserciti: è giunto finalmente il tuo giorno, il tempo del tuo castigo.
32 Insolence stumbles and falls; there is no one to raise him up. I will kindle in his cities a fire that shall devour everything around him.	32 Inciamperà la superba e cadrà e non avrà chi la rialzi. Io accenderò fuoco nelle sue città e divorerà tutti i suoi dintorni".
33 Thus says the LORD of hosts: Oppressed are the men of Israel, and with them the men of Judah; All their captors hold them fast and refuse to let them go.	33 Così dice il Signore degli eserciti: "I figli di Israele sono oppressi insieme ai figli di Giuda, perché tutti i loro deportatori li tengono strettamente, rifiutano di rimandarli.
34 Strong is their avenger, whose name is LORD of hosts; He will defend their cause with success, and give rest to the earth, but unrest to those who live in Babylon.	34 Ma il loro redentore è forte, "Dio degli eserciti" è il suo nome; certamente difenderà la loro causa, per tranquillizzare il paese e far tremare gli abitanti di Babilonia".
35 A sword upon the Chaldeans, says the LORD, upon Babylon's people, her princes and wise men!	35 "Spada sui Caldei, oracolo del Signore, e sugli abitanti di Babilonia, sui suoi prìncipi e i suoi sapienti.
36 A sword upon the soothsayers, that they may become fools! A sword upon her warriors, that they may tremble;	36 Spada sui bugiardi: che impazziscano! Spada sugli eroi suoi: che si spaventino!
37 A sword upon her motley throng, that they may become women! A sword upon her treasures, that they may be plundered;	37 Spada sui suoi cavalli e i suoi carri e sulla mescolanza di genti che è in mezzo ad essa: che diventino donne! Spada sui suoi tesori: che siano depredati!
38 A sword upon her waters, that they may dry up! For it is a land of idols, and they shall be made frantic by fearful things.	38 Spada sulle sue acque: che secchino! Sì, è un paese d'idoli e per gli orrori smaniano.
39 Hence, wildcats and desert beasts shall dwell there, and ostriches shall occupy it; Never again shall it be peopled, or lived in, from age to age.	39 Perciò vi dimoreranno animali del deserto e sciacalli, vi dimoreranno gli struzzi; così non sarà più abitata in sempiterno né popolata di generazione in generazione.
40 As when God overturned Sodom and Gomorrah, with their neighbors, says the LORD, Not a man shall dwell there, no human being shall tarry there.	40 Come Dio sconvolse Sodoma e Gomorra con i suoi vicini, oracolo del Signore, non vi abiterà alcuno né vi dimorerà figlio d'uomo.
41 See! a people comes from the north, a great nation, and mighty kings roused from the ends of the earth.	41 Ecco: un popolo viene dal nord, una nazione grande e re potenti si svegliano dalle estremità della terra.
42 Bow and javelin they wield, cruel and pitiless are they; They sound like the roaring sea, as they ride forth on steeds, Each in his place for battle against you, daughter Babylon.	42 Essi impugnano arco e lancia, sono crudeli e non hanno compassione; il loro grido è come mare in tempesta; cavalcano sopra cavalli e sono pronti come un sol uomo alla battaglia contro di te, o figlia di Babilonia.
43 The king of Babylon hears news of them, and helpless fall his hands; Anguish seizes him, throes like a mother's in childbirth.	43 Di loro ha avuto notizia il re di Babilonia e sono cadute le sue mani; l'ha invaso l'angoscia, dolore come di partoriente.
44 As when a lion comes up from the Jordan's thicket to the permanent feeding grounds, So I, in one instant, will drive them off, and whom I choose I will establish there; For who is like me? who calls me to account? what shepherd can stand against me?	44 Ecco: sale come leone dalla boscaglia del Giordano verso un pascolo rigoglioso. Sì, improvvisamente io li metterò in fuga di là e porrò su di esso il mio eletto. Chi, infatti, è come me e chi può sfidarmi? Chi è quel pastore che può starmi di fronte?
45 Therefore hear the counsel of the LORD which he has taken against Babylon; Hear the plans he has made against the land of the Chaldeans: They shall be dragged away, even the smallest sheep; their own pasture shall be aghast because of them.	45 Perciò udite il consiglio del Signore, ciò che ha pensato contro Babilonia e i progetti che ha fatto contro il paese dei Caldei: "Trascineranno via i piccoli del gregge; sarà devastato dietro di essi il pascolo!".
46 At the cry "Babylon is captured!" the earth quakes; the outcry is heard among the nations.	46 Per lo strepito della presa di Babilonia trema la terra e il loro grido si ode tra le nazioni".
