Jeremiah 50

1 The word which the LORD spoke against Babylon, against the land of the Chaldeans, through the prophet Jeremiah:	1 - La parola che il Signore pronunziò su Babilonia e sul paese dei Caldei per Geremia profeta.
2 Announce and publish it among the nations; publish it, hide it not, but say: Babylon is taken, Bel confounded, Merodach shattered; her images are put to shame, her idols shattered.	2 «Pubblicatelo tra le genti e proclamatelo, inalberate l'insegna, proclamate la novella e non tenetela celata; dite: - Babilonia è stata presa, Bel è rimasto confuso e Merodac vinto, i suoi simulacri sono stati svergognati, conquisi i suoi idoli! -
3 A people from the north advances against her to turn her land into a desert, So that no one shall live there, because man and beast have fled away.	3 Perchè contro di essa è salita fuori dal settentrione una gente che ridurrà la sua schiera in desolazione, più nessuno abitatore, dall'uomo all'animale, vi resterà per abitarla; hanno preso le mosse e se ne sono andati.
4 In those days, at that time, says the LORD, the men of Israel and of Judah shall come, Weeping as they come, to seek the LORD, their God;	4 In quei giorni e in quel tempo, dice il Signore, partiranno i figli di Giuda e con loro i figli d'Israele tutti insieme, e piangendo frettolosi se ne verranno, e ricercheranno il Signore Dio loro.
5 to their goal in Zion they shall ask the way. "Come, let us join ourselves to the LORD with covenant everlasting, never to be forgotten."	5 Domanderanno della via per Sion, e per di qua si volgeranno, arriveranno e si ricongiungeranno al Signore con un patto sempiterno, la cui memoria non sarà dall'oblio cancellata giammai.
6 Lost sheep were my people, their shepherds misled them, straggling on the mountains; From mountain to hill they wandered, losing the way to their fold.	6 Un gregge smarrito è diventato il mio popolo; i suoi pastori l'avevano tratto fuor di via aggirandolo pei monti, da monte a colle erano passati, e avevano dimenticato la loro mandra.
7 Whoever came upon them devoured them, and their enemies said, "We incur no guilt, Because they sinned against the LORD, the hope of their fathers, their abode of justice."	7 Tutti quelli che li avevano trovati si erano dati a divorarli, e i loro nemici avevano detto: - Noi non commettiamo un peccato, perchè essi hanno offeso il Signore, splendore della giustizia, e già speranza dei padri loro, il Signore.-
8 Flee from Babylon, leave the land of the Chaldeans, be like the rams at the head of the flock.	8 Partite di mezzo a Babilonia e uscite fuori dalla terra dei Caldei, mettetevi come capri guidaioli alla testa del gregge.
9 See, I am stirring up against Babylon a band of great nations from the north; from there they advance, and she shall be taken. Their arrows are arrows of the skilled warrior; none shall return without effect.	9 Perchè ecco che io desterò e slancerò dalla terra del settentrione contro Babilonia una caterva di grandi nazioni, e si ordineranno contro di essa e vi resterà presa; la sua freccia di prode vibrator micidiale non ritornerà a vuoto.
10 Chaldea shall be their plunder, and all her plunderers shall be enriched, says the LORD.	10 E la Caldea sarà depredata, tutti i suoi saccheggiatori troveranno da saziarsi, dice il Signore.
11 Yes, rejoice and exult, you that plunder my portion; Frisk like calves on the green, snort like stallions!	11 Perchè avete esultato e fatto gran clamore, mettendo a ruba l'eredità mia; e avete guazzato come vitelli in grembo all'erba, avete muggito come tori.
12 Your mother shall be sorely put to shame, she that bore you shall be abashed; See, the last of the nations, a desert, dry and waste.	12 La madre vostra è stata grandemente confusa, ragguagliata colla polvere è la vostra genitrice, ecco resterà l'ultima delle nazioni, deserta, impraticabile e riarsa.
13 Because of the LORD'S wrath she shall be empty, and become a total desert; Everyone who passes by Babylon will be appalled and catch his breath, at all her wounds.	13 Sotto il peso dell'ira del Signore, non sarà più abitata, ma diventerà tutta una solitudine. Chiunque passerà per Babilonia resterà sbigottito e manderà un fischio sopra tutte le sue sventure.
14 Take your posts encircling Babylon, you who bend the bow; Shoot at her, spare not your arrows,	14 Schieratevi contro Babilonia in cerchio voi tutti tiratori d'arco, aggreditela, non risparmiate le frecce, perchè ha peccato contro il Signore.
15 raise the war cry against her on all sides. She surrenders, her bastions fall, her walls are torn down: Vengeance of the LORD is this! Take revenge on her, as she has done, do to her; for she sinned against the LORD.	15 Alzate il grido dell'assalto, dovunque presenta i fianchi, crollano le sue fondamenta, rovinano le sue mura; è la vendetta del Signore; fate su di lei la vostra vendetta; com'essa ha fatto, così fate a lei.
16 Cut off from Babylon the sower and him who wields the sickle in harvest time! Before the destroying sword, each of them turns to his own people, everyone flees to his own land.	16 Sterminate da Babilonia colui che semina e chi impugna la falce al tempo della mèsse, davanti alla spada desolatrice ciascuno si rivolga al suo popolo, ognuno fugga alla sua terra.
17 A stray sheep was Israel that lions pursued; Formerly the king of Assyria devoured her, now Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon gnaws her bones.	17 Un gregge disperso è Israele, i leoni l'hanno rincorso; primo, il re di Assur l'ha dilaniato, e quest'ultimo, Nabucodonosor re di Babilonia, l'ha disossato».
18 Therefore, thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: I will punish the king of Babylon and his land, as once I punished the king of Assyria;	18 Perciò, così dice il Signore degli eserciti, il Dio d'Israele: «Ecco che io visiterò il re di Babilonia e la sua terra, come ho visitato il re di Assur.
19 But I will bring back Israel to her fold, to feed on Carmel and Bashan, And on Mount Ephraim and Gilead, till she has her fill.	19 E ricondurrò Israele alla sua greggia, e pascolerà sul Carmelo e in Basan e sulla montagna di Efraim, e Galaad gli darà da saziarsi la voglia.
20 In those days, at that time, says the LORD: They shall seek Israel's guilt, but it shall be no more, and Judah's sins, but these shall no longer be found; for I will forgive the remnant I preserve.	20 In quei giorni e in quel tempo, dice il Signore, si cercherà l'iniquità d'Israele e più non vi sarà, e il peccato di Giuda, e non si troverà; perchè userò misericordia per coloro che avrò risparmiati.
21 Attack the land of Merathaim, and those who live in Pekod; Slaughter and doom them, says the LORD, do all I have commanded you.	21 Muovi contro la terra dei dominanti, e sopra i suoi abitatori; visita e uccidi dietro di loro, dice il Signore, e fa' secondo tutto ciò che ti ho comandato.
22 Battle alarm in the land, dire destruction!	22 Fragor di battaglia per la terra e grande sconfitta!
23 How has the hammer of the whole earth been broken and shattered! What an object of horror Babylon has become among the nations.	23 Come mai è stato infranto e stritolato il martello di tutta la terra? Come mai Babilonia è diventata la più deserta fra le nazioni?
24 You ensnared yourself, and were caught, O Babylon, before you knew it! You were discovered and seized, because you challenged the LORD.	24 T'ho gettato il laccio e sei rimasta presa, o Babilonia, senza che t'avvedessi; sei stata còlta e afferrata, perchè hai provocato a cimento il Signore.
25 The LORD opens his armory and brings forth the weapons of his wrath; For the Lord GOD of hosts has work to do in the land of the Chaldeans.	25 Il Signore ha aperto il suo ricettacolo e ne ha tratto gl'istrumenti dell'ira sua, perchè il Signore Dio degli eserciti ha un'opera da compiere nella terra dei Caldei.
26 Come upon her from every side, open her granaries, Pile up her goods in heaps and doom it, leave not a remnant.	26 Venite ad essa dagli estremi confini; aprite il varco che escano quelli che devono calpestarla: disselciate le strade e fatene mucchie massacrate senza nulla risparmiare.
27 Slay all her oxen, let them go down to the slaughter; Woe to them! their day has come, the time of their punishment.	27 Trucidate tutti i suoi forti, siano trascinati al macello; sciagurati, è venuta la loro ora, è giunto il tempo della loro punizione.
28 Listen! the fugitives, the escaped from the land of Babylon: They announce in Zion the vengeance of the LORD, our God.	28 Oh! la voce dei fuggitivi e degli scampati dalla terra di Babiloniache vengono ad annunziare in Sion la vendetta del Signore Dio nostro la vendetta pel tempio suo!
29 Call up against Babylon archers, all who bend the bow; Encamp around her, let no one escape. Repay her for her deeds; as she has done, do to her, For she insulted the LORD, the Holy One of Israel.	29 Chiamate a raccolta contro Babilonia tutti i numerosi vibratori d'arco: postatevi contr'essa in cerchio e nessuno scampi; rendetele secondo il suo operato; in tutto, com'essa ha fatto a voi, fate ad essa; perchè si è inalberata contro il Santo d'Israele.
30 Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets, all her warriors shall perish on that day, says the LORD.	30 Perciò, la sua gioventù cascherà sulle sue piazze, e tutti i suoi uomini bellicosi ammutoliranno in quel giorno, dice il Signore.
31 I am against you, man of insolence, says the Lord GOD of hosts; For your day has come, the time for me to punish you.	31 Eccomi a te, superbo, dice il Signore Dio degli eserciti, perchè è venuto il tuo giorno, il tempo della tua visita.
32 Insolence stumbles and falls; there is no one to raise him up. I will kindle in his cities a fire that shall devour everything around him.	32 E il superbo cadrà e si rovescerà, senza alcuno che lo rialzi; e appiccherò il fuoco alle sue città e divorerà ogni cosa nei suoi dintorni».
33 Thus says the LORD of hosts: Oppressed are the men of Israel, and with them the men of Judah; All their captors hold them fast and refuse to let them go.	33 Così dice il Signore degli eserciti: «I figli d'Israele sono sotto l'oppressione e i figli di Giuda ugualmente; tutti coloro che li hanno fatti schiavi e li tengono e non vogliono rilasciarli.
34 Strong is their avenger, whose name is LORD of hosts; He will defend their cause with success, and give rest to the earth, but unrest to those who live in Babylon.	34 Ma il loro redentore è uno forte, Signore degli eserciti è il nome suo, difenderà in giudizio la loro causa sì da far tremare la terra e fremere gli abitatori di Babilonia.
35 A sword upon the Chaldeans, says the LORD, upon Babylon's people, her princes and wise men!	35 La spada sui Caldei, dice il Signore, e sugli abitanti di Babilonia, e sui principi suoi, e sui suoi sapienti.
36 A sword upon the soothsayers, that they may become fools! A sword upon her warriors, that they may tremble;	36 La spada sugl'indovini suoi, e insaniranno; la spada sui suoi prodi, e temeranno;
37 A sword upon her motley throng, that they may become women! A sword upon her treasures, that they may be plundered;	37 la spada contro i suoi cavalli, e contro i suoi carri, e contro tutta la plebe che sta in mezzo di essa, e diventeranno come femminette; la spada sui suoi tesori, e saranno predati;
38 A sword upon her waters, that they may dry up! For it is a land of idols, and they shall be made frantic by fearful things.	38 la siccità contro le sue acque, e seccheranno. Giacchè è una terra di simulacri, dove si gloriano di cose mostruose.
39 Hence, wildcats and desert beasts shall dwell there, and ostriches shall occupy it; Never again shall it be peopled, or lived in, from age to age.	39 Perciò l'abiteranno i draghi e mostruose fiere, l'abiteranno gli struzzi, non sarà mai più in eterno ripopolata nè sarà riedificata, pel volgere di generazioni e generazioni.
40 As when God overturned Sodom and Gomorrah, with their neighbors, says the LORD, Not a man shall dwell there, no human being shall tarry there.	40 Sarà, dice il Signore, come Sodoma e Gomorra, e le vicine città che il Signore distrusse; non abiterà qui più nessuno e mai più creatura umana in essa vi farà dimora.
41 See! a people comes from the north, a great nation, and mighty kings roused from the ends of the earth.	41 Ecco un popolo viene dal settentrione, una grande nazione e molti re sorgeranno dai confini della terra.
42 Bow and javelin they wield, cruel and pitiless are they; They sound like the roaring sea, as they ride forth on steeds, Each in his place for battle against you, daughter Babylon.	42 Impugnano l'arco e lo scudo, truci e spietati; col fremito somigliante al muggito del mare, montati sui cavalli, come un uomo preparato alla battaglia muovono contro te, figlia di Babilonia.
43 The king of Babylon hears news of them, and helpless fall his hands; Anguish seizes him, throes like a mother's in childbirth.	43 Il re di Babilonia ne ha udita la fama e le mani gli sono cascate, lo prese un'ambascia, uno spasimo come di partoriente.
44 As when a lion comes up from the Jordan's thicket to the permanent feeding grounds, So I, in one instant, will drive them off, and whom I choose I will establish there; For who is like me? who calls me to account? what shepherd can stand against me?	44 Ecco come leone balzerà dalla maestosità del Giordano agli ameni contrafforti, perchè io lo lancerò improvvisamente sopra di essi, e chi sarà l'eletto ch'io designerò a suo capo? Chi è simile a me, e chi può competere meco, e qual pastore può reggere di fronte a me?
45 Therefore hear the counsel of the LORD which he has taken against Babylon; Hear the plans he has made against the land of the Chaldeans: They shall be dragged away, even the smallest sheep; their own pasture shall be aghast because of them.	45 Perciò udite il disegno del Signore che ha concepito contro Babilonia e il pensiero che ha risonato contro la terra dei Caldei: - Vedrete se i più piccoli della greggia non gli cozzeranno e se non saranno messi a soqquadro essi e la loro abitazione.-
46 At the cry "Babylon is captured!" the earth quakes; the outcry is heard among the nations.	46 Alla voce della presa di Babilonia ha tremato la terra e il grido ha echeggiato tra le nazioni».
