Job 32

1 Then the three men ceased to answer Job, because he was righteous in his own eyes.	1 Como Jó persistisse em considerar-se como um justo, estes três homens cessaram de lhe responder.
2 But the anger of Elihu, son of Barachel the Buzite, of the family of Ram, was kindled. He was angry with Job for considering himself rather than God to be in the right.	2 Então se inflamou a cólera de Eliú, filho de Baraquel, de Buz, da família de Rão; sua cólera inflamou-se contra Jó, por este pretender justificar-se perante Deus.
3 He was angry also with the three friends because they had not found a good answer and had not condemned Job.	3 Inflamou-se também contra seus três amigos, por não terem achado resposta conveniente, dando assim culpa a Deus.
4 But since these men were older than he, Elihu bided his time before addressing Job.	4 Como fossem mais velhos do que ele, Eliú tinha se abstido de responder a Jó.
5 When, however, Elihu saw that there was no reply in the mouths of the three men, his wrath was inflamed.	5 Mas, quando viu que não tinham mais nada para responder, encolerizou-se.
6 So Elihu, son of Barachel the Buzite, spoke out and said: I am young and you are very old; therefore I held back and was afraid to declare to you my knowledge.	6 Então Eliú, filho de Baraquel, de Buz, tomou a palavra nestes termos: Sou jovem em anos, e vós sois velhos; é por isso que minha timidez me impediu de manifestar-vos o meu saber.
7 Days should speak, I thought, and many years teach wisdom!	7 Dizia comigo: A idade vai falar; os muitos anos farão conhecer a sabedoria,
8 But it is a spirit in man, the breath of the Almighty, that gives him understanding.	8 mas é o Espírito de Deus no homem, e um sopro do Todo-poderoso que torna inteligente.
9 It is not those of many days who are wise, nor the aged who understand the right.	9 Não são os mais velhos que são sábios, nem os anciãos que discernem o que é justo;
10 Therefore I say, hearken to me; let me too set forth my knowledge!	10 é por isso que digo: Escutai-me, vou mostrar-vos o que sei.
11 Behold, I have waited for your discourses, and have given ear to your arguments.	11 Esperei enquanto faláveis, prestei atenção em vossos raciocínios. Enquanto discutíeis,
12 Yes, I followed you attentively as you searched out what to say; And behold, there is none who has convicted Job, not one of you who could refute his statements.	12 segui-vos atentamente. Mas ninguém refutou Jó, ninguém respondeu aos seus argumentos.
13 Yet do not say, "We have met wisdom. God may vanquish him but not man!"	13 Não digais: Encontramos a sabedoria; é Deus e não um homem quem nos instrui.
14 For had he addressed his words to me, I should not then have answered him as you have done.	14 Não foi a mim que dirigiu seus discursos, mas encontrarei outras respostas diferentes das vossas.
15 They are dismayed, they make no more reply; words fail them.	15 Ei-los calados, já não dizem mais nada; faltam-lhes as palavras.
16 Must I wait? Now that they speak no more, and have ceased to make reply,	16 Esperei que se calassem, que parassem e cessassem de responder.
17 I too will speak my part; I also will show my knowledge!	17 É a minha vez de responder: vou também mostrar o que sei.
18 For I am full of matters to utter; the spirit within me compels me.	18 Pois estou cheio de palavras, o espírito que está em meu peito me oprime.
19 Like a new wineskin with wine under pressure, my bosom is ready to burst.	19 Meu peito é como o vinho arrolhado, como um barril pronto para estourar.
20 Let me speak and obtain relief; let me open my lips, and make reply.	20 Vou falar, isto me aliviará, abrirei meus lábios para responder.
21 I would not be partial to anyone, nor give flattering titles to any.	21 Não farei acepção de ninguém, não adularei este ou aquele.
22 For I know nought of flattery; if I did, my Maker would soon take me away.	22 Pois não sei bajular; do contrário, meu Criador logo me levaria.
