Job 17

1 My spirit is broken, my lamp of life extinguished; my burial is at hand.	1 Lo spirito mio s'assottiglierae, e li dì miei si abbrevieranno, e solamente lo sepolcro soprasta a me.
2 I am indeed mocked, and, as their provocation mounts, my eyes grow dim.	2 Io non peccai, e nella amaritudine sta l' occhio mio.
3 Grant me one to offer you a pledge on my behalf: who is there that will give surety for me?	3 E però, Signore mio, libera me, e poni me appresso te; e le mani di chiunque tu vogli combattino contro a me.
4 You darken their minds to knowledge; therefore they do not understand.	4 Lo cuore di coloro facesti dalla lunga dalla disciplina, e però non saranno esaltati.
5 My lot is described as evil,	5 La preda dimostrerà a' compagni, e gli occhii de' figliuoli [suoi] verranno meno.
6 and I am made a byword of the people; their object lesson I have become.	6 E puosemi quasi nel proverbio del popolo, e sono esempio dinanzi da loro.
7 My eye has grown blind with anguish, and all my frame is shrunken to a shadow.	7 Oscurossi ad indegnazione l'occhio mio, e le mie membra quasi in nulla tornate sono.
8 Upright men are astonished at this, and the innocent aroused against the wicked.	8 Maraviglierannosi i giusti sopra queste cose, e lo innocente sopra gl' ipocriti sarà suscitato.
9 Yet the righteous shall hold to his way, and he who has clean hands increase in strength.	9 E terrà lo giusto la sua via, e aggiugnerà la fortezza a coloro che sono mondi delle mani.
10 But turn now, and come on again; for I shall not find a wise man among you!	10 Adunque voi tutti convertitevi, e venite, e non troveroe in voi alcuno savio.
11 My days are passed away, my plans are at an end, the cherished purposes of my heart.	11 Li dì miei trapassarono, li miei pensieri sono dissipati, tormentando lo mio cuore.
12 Such men change the night into day; where there is darkness they talk of approaching light.	12 La notte rivolsero in dì, e anco dopo le tenebre spero la luce.
13 If I look for the nether world as my dwelling, if I spread my couch in the darkness,	13 Se io sosterrò, la mia casa è un inferno; e nelle tenebre feci lo mio letticiuolo.
14 If I must call corruption "my father," and the maggot "my mother" and "my sister,"	14 E alla puzza dissi: tu se' padre mio; madre mia, e sorella mia, alli vermi.
15 Where then is my hope, and my prosperity, who shall see?	15 Dove è a ora lo mio aspettare, e la pazienza mia chi considera?
16 Will they descend with me into the nether world? Shall we go down together into the dust?	16 Nel profondissimo inferno scenderanno tutte le mie cose; o pensi tu per avventura, quivi sarà lo riposo mio?
