1 This is the list of the family heads who returned with me from Babylon during the reign of King Artaxerxes:	1 Voici les noms des chefs de familles, et le dénombrement de ceux qui sont venus avec moi de Babylone sous le règne du roi Artaxerxès:
2 Of the sons of Phinehas, Gershon; of the sons of Ithamar, Daniel; of the sons of David, Hattush,	2 Des fils de Phinées, Gersom. Des fils d'Ithamar, Daniel. Des fils de David, Hattus.
3 son of Shecaniah; of the sons of Parosh, Zechariah, and with him one hundred and fifty males were enrolled;	3 Des fils de Séchénias, des fils de Pharos, Zacharie; et on compta avec lui cent cinquante hommes.

15 I had them assemble by the river that flows toward Ahava, where we made camp for three days. There I perceived that both laymen and priests were present, but I could not discover a single Levite.	15 Je les assemblai près du fleuve qui coule vers Ahava, et nous demeurâmes là trois jours; et ayant cherché des fils de Lévi parmi le peuple et les prêtres, je n'en trouvai aucun.
16 Therefore I sent Eliezer, Ariel, Shemaiah, Jarib, Elnathan, Nathan, Zechariah, and Meshullam, wise leaders,	16 J'envoyai donc les chefs Eliézer, Ariel, Séméïa, Elnathan, Jarib, et un autre Elnathan, Nathan, Zacharie, et Mosollé, et les docteurs Joïarib et Elnathan.
17 with a command for Iddo, the leader in the place Casiphia, instructing them what to say to Iddo and his brethren, and to the temple slaves in Casiphia, in order to procure for us ministers for the house of our God.	17 Je les envoyai vers Eddo, qui était le chef de ceux qui demeuraient au lieu nommé Casphia, et je leur marquai les paroles qu'ils devaient dire à Eddo et aux Nathinéens ses frères, afin qu'ils nous amenassent des ministres du temple de notre Dieu.
18 They sent to us--for the favoring hand of our God was upon us--a well-instructed man, one of the sons of Mahli, son of Levi, son of Israel, namely Sherebiah, with his sons and brethren, eighteen men.	18 Et ils nous amenèrent, grâce à la main favorable de notre Dieu, qui était sur nous, un homme très savant des enfants de Moholi, fils de Lévi, fils d'Israël et Sarabia avec ses ses fils et ses frères, au nombre de dix-huit;
19 They also sent us Hashabiah, and with him Jeshaiah, sons of Merari, and their brethren and their sons, twenty men.	19 et Hasabia, et avec lui Isaïe, des fils de Mérari, avec ses frères et ses fils, au nombre de vingt;
20 Of the temple slaves (those whom David and the princes appointed to serve the Levites) there were two hundred and twenty. 21 Then I proclaimed a fast, there by the river of Ahava, that we might humble ourselves before our God to petition from him a safe journey for ourselves, our children, and all our possessions.	21 Là, près du fleuve Ahava, je publiai un jeûne, pour nous affliger devant le Seigneur notre Dieu, et pour Lui demander un heureux voyage pour nous, pour nos fils, et pour tout ce qui nous appartenait.
22 For I would have been ashamed to ask the king for troops and horsemen to protect us against enemies along the way, since we had said to the king, "The favoring hand of our God is upon all who seek him, but his mighty wrath is against all who forsake him."	22 Car j'eus honte de demander au roi une escorte de cavaliers pour nous défendre de l'ennemi pendant le chemin; parce que nous avions dit au roi : La main de notre Dieu est sur tous ceux qui Le cherchent sincèrement, et Son empire, Sa puissance et Sa fureur éclatent sur tous ceux qui L'abandonnent.
23 So we fasted, and prayed to our God for this, and our petition was granted.	23 Nous jeûnâmes donc et nous priâmes notre Dieu dans ce dessein, et tout se passa pour nous heureusement.
24 Next I selected twelve of the priestly leaders along with Sherebiah, Hashabiah, and ten of their brethren,	24 Et je choisis douze chefs des prêtres, Sarabias, Hasabias, et dix d'entre leurs frères,
25 and I weighed out before them the silver and the gold and the utensils offered for the house of our God by the king, his counselors, his officials, and all the Israelites of that region.	25 et je pesai devant eux l'argent et l'or, et les vases sacrés de la maison de notre Dieu, que le roi, ses conseillers et ses princes, et tous ceux qui s'étaient trouvés dans Israël, avaient offerts au Seigneur.
26 I consigned it to them in these amounts: silver, six hundred and fifty talents; silver utensils, one hundred; gold, one hundred talents;	26 Je pesai entre leurs mains six cent cinquante talents d'argent, cent vases d'argent, cent talents d'or,
27 twenty golden bowls valued at a thousand darics; two vases of excellent polished bronze, as precious as gold.	27 vingt coupes d'or du poids de mille drachmes, et deux vases d'un airain brillant, aussi beaux que s'ils eussent été d'or.
28 I addressed them in these words: "You are consecrated to the LORD, and the utensils are also consecrated; the silver and the gold are a free-will offering to the LORD, the God of your fathers.	28 Et je leur dis : Vous êtes les saints du Seigneur, et ces vases sont saints, comme tout cet or et cet argent, qui a été offert volontairement au Seigneur le Dieu de nos pères.
29 Keep good watch over them till you weigh them out in Jerusalem in the presence of the chief priests and Levites and the family leaders of Israel, in the chambers of the house of the LORD."	29 Gardez ce dépôt avec soin, jusqu'à ce que vous le rendiez dans le même poids à Jérusalem aux princes des prêtres, aux lévites et aux chefs des familles d'Israël, pour le trésor de la maison du Seigneur.
30 The priests and the Levites then took over the silver, the gold, and the utensils that had been weighed out, to bring them to Jerusalem, to the house of our God.	30 Les prêtres et les lévites reçurent au poids cet argent, cet or et ces vases, pour les porter à Jérusalem dans la maison de notre Dieu.
31 We set out for Jerusalem from the river of Ahava on the twelfth day of the first month. The hand of our God remained upon us, and he protected us from enemies and bandits along the way.	31 Nous partîmes donc du bord du fleuve Ahava, le douzième jour du premier mois, pour aller à Jérusalem; et la main de notre Dieu fut sur nous, et Il nous délivra des mains de l'ennemi, et de toute embûche pendant le voyage.
32 Thus we arrived in Jerusalem, where we first rested for three days.	32 Nous arrivâmes à Jérusalem, et nous y demeurâmes trois jours.
33 On the fourth day, the silver, the gold, and the utensils were weighed out in the house of our God and consigned to the priest Meremoth, son of Uriah, who was assisted by Eleazar, son of Phinehas; they were assisted by the Levites Jozabad, son of Jeshua, and Noadiah, son of Binnui.	33 Le quatrième jour, on pesa dans la maison de notre Dieu l'argent, l'or et les vases, que nous remîmes à Mérémoth, fils du prêtre Urie, qui était accompagné d'Eléazar, fils de Phinées; et Jozabed, fils de Josué, et Noadaïa, fils de Bennoï, lévites, étaient avec eux.
34 Everything was in order as to number and weight, and the total weight was registered. At that same time,	34 Tout fut livré par compte et par poids, et on écrivit alors ce que pesait chaque chose.
35 those who had returned from the captivity, the exiles, offered as holocausts to the God of Israel twelve bulls for all Israel, ninety-six rams, seventy-seven lambs, and twelve goats as sin-offerings: all these as a holocaust to the LORD.	35 Les fils d'Israël qui étaient revenus de captivité offrirent aussi en holocauste au Dieu d'Israël douze veaux pour tout le peuple d'Israël, quatre-vingt-seize béliers, soixante-dix-sept agneaux et douze boucs pour le péché; le tout en holocauste au Seigneur.
36 Finally, the orders of the king were presented to the king's satraps and to the governors in West-of-Euphrates, who gave their support to the people and to the house of God.	36 Ils donnèrent les édits du roi aux satrapes qui étaient de sa cour, et aux gouverneurs au delà du fleuve, lesquels favorisèrent le peuple et la maison de Dieu.
