KING JAMES BIBLELe Sainte Bible Vigouroux
Concerning the Ammonites, thus saith the LORD; Hath Israel no sons? hath he no heir? why then doth their king inherit Gad, and his people dwell in his cities?1 Aux fils d'Ammon.
Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will cause an alarm of war to be heard in Rabbah of the Ammonites; and it shall be a desolate heap, and her daughters shall be burned with fire: then shall Israel be heir unto them that were his heirs, saith the LORD.2 C'est pourquoi voici, les (des) jours viennent, dit le Seigneur, où je ferai entendre le bruit du (frémissement d'un) combat contre Rabbath, capitale des enfants d'Ammon, et elle deviendra un monceau de ruines, et ses filles seront consumées par le feu, et Israël se rendra maître de (possédera) ceux qui l'avaient maîtrisé (possédaient), dit le Seigneur.
Howl, O Heshbon, for Ai is spoiled: cry, ye daughters of Rabbah, gird you with sackcloth; lament, and run to and fro by the hedges; for their king shall go into captivity, and his priests and his princes together.3 Hurle, Hésébon, parce que Haï a été dévastée ; criez, filles de Rabbath, revêtez-vous de cilices, lamentez-vous et courez autour des haies, parce que Melchom sera emmené en captivité avec ses prêtres et ses princes (en même temps).
Wherefore gloriest thou in the valleys, thy flowing valley, O backsliding daughter? that trusted in her treasures, saying, Who shall come unto me?4 Pourquoi te glorifies-tu de tes vallées ?
Behold, I will bring a fear upon thee, saith the Lord GOD of hosts, from all those that be about thee; and ye shall be driven out every man right forth; and none shall gather up him that wandereth.5 Voici, je ferai venir sur toi la terreur, dit le Seigneur, (le) Dieu des armées ; tu trembleras devant tous ceux qui t'environnent ; et vous serez dispersés, chacun devant soi, et il n'y aura personne pour rassembler les fuyards.
And afterward I will bring again the captivity of the children of Ammon, saith the LORD.6 Après cela je ferai revenir les captifs des fils d'Ammon, dit le Seigneur.
Concerning Edom, thus saith the LORD of hosts; Is wisdom no more in Teman? is counsel perished from the prudent? is their wisdom vanished?7 A l'Idumée.
Flee ye, turn back, dwell deep, O inhabitants of Dedan; for I will bring the calamity of Esau upon him, the time that I will visit him.8 Fuyez et tournez le dos, descendez dans l'abîme (le gouffre), habitants de Dédan, car j'ai fait venir la ruine sur Esaü, le temps où je dois le visiter.
If grapegatherers come to thee, would they not leave some gleaning grapes? if thieves by night, they will destroy till they have enough.9 Si des vendangeurs étaient venus sur toi, n'auraient-ils pas laissé quelques raisins ?
But I have made Esau bare, I have uncovered his secret places, and he shall not be able to hide himself: his seed is spoiled, and his brethren, and his neighbours, and he is not.10 Mais moi j'ai découvert Esaü ; j'ai mis au jour ses abris secrets, et il ne pourra plus se cacher ; sa postérité a été ruinée, ses frères et ses voisins aussi, et il ne sera plus.
Leave thy fatherless children, I will preserve them alive; and let thy widows trust in me.11 Laisse tes orphelins, je les ferai vivre, et tes veuves espéreront en moi.
For thus saith the LORD; Behold, they whose judgment was not to drink of the cup have assuredly drunken; and art thou he that shall altogether go unpunished? thou shalt not go unpunished, but thou shalt surely drink of it.12 Car ainsi parle le Seigneur : Voici, ceux qui n'étaient pas condamnés à (jugés comme devant) boire la coupe la boiront, et toi, tu demeurerais impuni comme si tu étais innocent ?
I have heard a rumour from the LORD, and an ambassador is sent unto the heathen, saying, Gather ye together, and come against her, and rise up to the battle.14 J'ai appris du Seigneur une nouvelle, et un messager a été envoyé vers les nations : Rassemblez-vous et venez contre elle, et marchons au combat.
For, lo, I will make thee small among the heathen, and despised among men.15 (Car) Voici, je t'ai rendu petit parmi les peuples, méprisable parmi les hommes.
Thy terribleness hath deceived thee, and the pride of thine heart, O thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, that holdest the height of the hill: though thou shouldest make thy nest as high as the eagle, I will bring thee down from thence, saith the LORD.16 Ton arrogance t'a trompé, ainsi que l'orgueil de ton cœur, toi qui habites dans les creux des rochers, et qui t'efforces d'occuper le sommet des collines : quand tu aurais élevé ton nid comme l'aigle, je t'arracherai de là, dit le Seigneur.
Also Edom shall be a desolation: every one that goeth by it shall be astonished, and shall hiss at all the plagues thereof.17 Et l'Idumée sera déserte : quiconque y passera sera dans la stupeur, et sifflera sur (toutes) ses plaies.
As in the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighbour cities thereof, saith the LORD, no man shall abide there, neither shall a son of man dwell in it.18 Comme Sodome et Gomorrhe et les villes voisines ont été renversées, dit le Seigneur, personne n'y habitera plus (pas), et le fils de l'homme n'y résidera plus.
Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the swelling of Jordan against the habitation of the strong: but I will suddenly make him run away from her: and who is a chosen man, that I may appoint over her? for who is like me? and who will appoint me the time? and who is that shepherd that will stand before me?19 Voici, l'ennemi montera de l'orgueil du Jourdain comme un lion contre la puissante beauté ; car je le ferai courir soudain sur elle.
Therefore hear the counsel of the LORD, that he hath taken against Edom; and his purposes, that he hath purposed against the inhabitants of Teman: Surely the least of the flock shall draw them out: surely he shall make their habitations desolate with them.20 C'est pourquoi, écoutez le dessein que le Seigneur a formé contre Edom, et les pensées qu'il a conçues (méditées) contre les habitants de Théman : Je jure que (si, note) les plus petits du troupeau les renverseront (ne les chassent pas), et détruiront (ne détruisent pas) avec eux leur demeure.
The earth is moved at the noise of their fall, at the cry the noise thereof was heard in the Red sea.21 Au bruit de leur ruine la terre a été ébranlée (agitée), leurs cris se sont fait entendre jusqu'à la mer Rouge.
Behold, he shall come up and fly as the eagle, and spread his wings over Bozrah: and at that day shall the heart of the mighty men of Edom be as the heart of a woman in her pangs.22 Voici qu'il montera comme l'aigle, il volera, et il étendra ses ailes sur Bosra ; et le cœur des héros (forts) de l'Idumée sera en ce jour-là comme le cœur d'une femme en travail.
Concerning Damascus. Hamath is confounded, and Arpad: for they have heard evil tidings: they are fainthearted; there is sorrow on the sea; it cannot be quiet.23 A Damas.
How is the city of praise not left, the city of my joy!25 Comment ont-ils abandonné la ville admirable, la ville de la joie (l'allégresse) ?
Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets, and all the men of war shall be cut off in that day, saith the LORD of hosts.26 C'est pourquoi ses jeunes gens tomberont dans ses places, et tous ses hommes de guerre se tairont en ce jour-là, dit le Seigneur des armées.
And I will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus, and it shall consume the palaces of Ben-hadad.27 Je mettrai le feu aux murs de Damas, et il dévorera les murailles (remparts) de Bénadad.
Concerning Kedar, and concerning the kingdoms of Hazor, which Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon shall smite, thus saith the LORD; Arise ye, go up to Kedar, and spoil the men of the east.28 A Cédar, et aux royaumes d'Asor, que frappa Nabuchodonosor, roi de Babylone.
Their tents and their flocks shall they take away: they shall take to themselves their curtains, and all their vessels, and their camels; and they shall cry unto them, Fear is on every side.29 Ils prendront leurs tentes (tabernacles) et leurs troupeaux ; ils enlèveront pour eux leurs pavillons, tous leurs bagages (vases), avec leurs chameaux, et ils appelleront sur eux la terreur tout autour.
Flee, get you far off, dwell deep, O ye inhabitants of Hazor, saith the LORD; for Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon hath taken counsel against you, and hath conceived a purpose against you.30 Fuyez, partez au plus vite, cachez-vous dans les creux de la terre (des antres), habitants d'Asor, dit le Seigneur ; car Nabuchodonosor, roi de Babylone, a formé un dessein contre vous, et il a conçu (médité) des projets contre vous.
Arise, get you up unto the wealthy nation, that dwelleth without care, saith the LORD, which have neither gates nor bars, which dwell alone.31 Levez-vous (tous ensemble), et montez contre une nation tranquille, et qui habite en sécurité (assurance), dit le Seigneur ; ils n'ont ni portes ni verrous, ils habitent solitaires (seuls).
And their camels shall be a booty, and the multitude of their cattle a spoil: and I will scatter into all winds them that are in the utmost corners; and I will bring their calamity from all sides thereof, saith the LORD.32 Leurs chameaux seront mis au pillage, et la multitude de leurs troupeaux sera une proie ; je les disperserai à tous les vents, ces hommes à la chevelure rasée, et de toutes leurs frontières je ferai venir sur eux la ruine, dit le Seigneur.
And Hazor shall be a dwelling for dragons, and a desolation for ever: there shall no man abide there, nor any son of man dwell in it.33 Et Asor sera le repaire des dragons, il sera à jamais désert ; personne n'y demeurera, et le fils de l'homme n'y résidera (séjournera) pas.
The word of the LORD that came to Jeremiah the prophet against Elam in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, saying,34 Parole qui fut adressée par le Seigneur au prophète Jérémie contre Elam, au commencement du règne de Sédécias, roi de Juda, en ces termes :
Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Behold, I will break the bow of Elam, the chief of their might.35 Ainsi parle le Seigneur des armées : Voici, je vais briser l'arc d'Elam, et leur principale (toute leur) force.
And upon Elam will I bring the four winds from the four quarters of heaven, and will scatter them toward all those winds; and there shall be no nation whither the outcasts of Elam shall not come.36 Et je ferai venir contre Elam quatre vents, des quatre coins (plages) du ciel, et je les disperserai à tous ces vents, et il n'y aura pas une nation où n'arrivent les fugitifs d'Elam.
For I will cause Elam to be dismayed before their enemies, and before them that seek their life: and I will bring evil upon them even my fierce anger, saith the LORD; and I will send the sword after them, till I have consumed them:37 Je ferai trembler Elam devant ses ennemis, devant ceux qui en veulent à leur vie (cherchent leur âme) ; et j'amènerai sur eux le (un) malheur, l'indignation de ma fureur, dit le Seigneur, et j'enverrai derrière eux le glaive, jusqu'à ce que je les aie exterminés.
And I will set my throne in Elam, and will destroy from thence the king and the princes, saith the LORD.38 Et j'établirai mon trône dans Elam, et j'en détruirai (exterminerai) les rois et les princes, dit le Seigneur.
But it shall come to pass in the latter days, that I will bring again the captivity of Elam, saith the LORD.39 Mais dans les derniers jours je ferai revenir les captifs d'Elam, dit le Seigneur.
