1 Les Israélites recommencèrent à faire ce qui est mal aux yeux de Yahvé, et Yahvé les livra aux mainsdes Philistins pendant 40 ans.	1 And again, the sons of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord. And he delivered them into the hands of the Philistines for forty years.
2 Il y avait un homme de Coréa, du clan de Dan, nommé Manoah. Sa femme était stérile et n'avait paseu d'enfant.	2 Now there was a certain man from Zorah, and of the stock of Dan, whose name was Manoah, having a barren wife.
3 L'Ange de Yahvé apparut à cette femme et lui dit: "Tu es stérile et tu n'as pas eu d'enfant	3 And an Angel of the Lord appeared to her, and he said: “You are barren and without children. But you shall conceive and bear a son.
4 mais tu vas concevoir et tu enfanteras un fils. Désormais, prends bien garde! Ne bois ni vin, niboisson fermentée, et ne mange rien d'impur.	4 Therefore, take care that you do not drink wine or strong drink. Neither shall you eat anything unclean.
5 Car tu vas concevoir et tu enfanteras un fils. Le rasoir ne passera pas sur sa tête, car l'enfant seranazir de Dieu dès le sein de sa mère. C'est lui qui commencera à sauver Israël de la main des Philistins."	5 For you shall conceive and bear a son, whose head no razor shall touch. For he shall be a Nazirite of God, from his infancy and from his mother’s womb. And he shall begin to free Israel from the hand of the Philistines.”
6 La femme rentra et dit à son mari: "Un homme de Dieu m'a abordée qui avait l'apparence de l'Angede Dieu, tant il était majestueux. Je ne lui ai pas demandé d'où il venait et il ne m'a pas fait connaître son nom.	6 And when she had gone to her husband, she said to him: “A man of God came to me, having the countenance of an Angel, exceedingly terrible. And when I had inquired of him, who he was, and where he was from, and what name he was called, he was not willing to tell me.
7 Mais il m'a dit: Tu vas concevoir et tu enfanteras un fils. Désormais ne bois ni vin, ni boissonfermentée, et ne mange rien d'impur, car l'enfant sera nazir de Dieu depuis le sein de sa mère jusqu'au jour de samort!"	7 But he responded: ‘Behold, you shall conceive and bear a son. Take care that you do not drink wine or strong drink. And you shall not consume anything unclean. For the boy shall be a Nazirite of God from his infancy, from his mother’s womb, even until the day of his death.’ ”
8 Alors Manoah implora Yahvé et dit: "Je t'en prie, Seigneur! Que l'homme de Dieu que tu as envoyévienne encore une fois vers nous, et qu'il nous apprenne ce que nous aurons à faire à l'enfant lorsqu'il sera né!"	8 And so Manoah prayed to the Lord, and he said, “I beg you Lord, that the man of God, whom you sent, may come again, and may teach us what we ought to do about the boy who is to be born.”
9 Dieu exauça Manoah et l'Ange de Dieu vint de nouveau trouver la femme, alors qu'elle était assisedans la campagne, et que Manoah, son mari, n'était pas avec elle.	9 And the Lord heeded the prayer of Manoah, and the Angel of the Lord appeared again to his wife, sitting in a field. But her husband Manoah was not with her. And when she had seen the Angel,
10 Vite, la femme courut informer son mari et lui dit: "Voici que m'est apparu l'homme qui est venuvers moi l'autre jour."	10 she hurried and ran to her husband. And she reported to him, saying, “Behold, the man appeared to me, whom I had seen before.”
11 Manoah se leva, suivit sa femme, vint vers l'homme et lui dit: "Es-tu l'homme qui a parlé à cettefemme?" Et il répondit: "C'est moi" --	11 And he rose up and followed his wife. And going to the man, he said to him, “Are you the one who spoke to my wife?” And he responded, “I am.”
12 "Quand ta parole s'accomplira, lui dit Manoah, quelle sera la règle pour l'enfant et que devra-t-ilfaire?"	12 And Manoah said to him: “When will your word be fulfilled. What do you want the boy to do? Or from what should he keep himself?”
13 L'Ange de Yahvé répondit à Manoah: "Tout ce que j'ai interdit à cette femme, qu'elle s'en abstienne.	13 And the Angel of the Lord said to Manoah: “Concerning all the things about which I have spoken to your wife, she herself should abstain.
14 Qu'elle n'absorbe rien de ce qui provient de la vigne, qu'elle ne boive ni vin, ni boisson fermentée,qu'elle ne mange rien d'impur, et qu'elle observe tout ce que je lui ai prescrit."	14 And let her eat nothing from the vine. She may not drink wine or strong drink. She may consume nothing unclean. And let her observe and keep what I have instructed to her.”
15 Manoah dit alors à l'Ange de Yahvé: "Permets que nous te retenions et que nous t'apprêtions unchevreau."	15 And Manoah said to the Angel of the Lord, “I beg you to agree to my petition, and to let us prepare a kid from the goats.”
16 Car Manoah ne savait pas que c'était l'Ange de Yahvé. Et l'Ange de Yahvé dit à Manoah: "Quandbien même tu me retiendrais, je ne mangerais pas de ta nourriture, mais si tu désires préparer un holocauste,offre-le à Yahvé."	16 And the Angel answered him: “Even if you compel me, I will not eat from your bread. But if you are willing to offer a holocaust, offer it to the Lord.” And Manoah did not know that he was an Angel of the Lord.
17 Manoah dit alors à l'Ange de Yahvé: "Quel est ton nom, afin que, lorsque ta parole sera accomplie,nous puissions t'honorer?"	17 And he said to him, “What is your name, so that, if your word is fulfilled, we may honor you?”
18 L'Ange de Yahvé lui répondit: "Pourquoi t'informer de mon nom? Il est merveilleux."	18 And he answered him, “Why do you ask my name, which is a wonder?”
19 Alors Manoah prit le chevreau ainsi que l'oblation et il l'offrit en holocauste, sur le rocher, à Yahvéqui opère des choses merveilleuses. Manoah et sa femme regardaient.	19 And so, Manoah took a kid from the goats, and libations, and he placed them upon a rock, as an offering to the Lord, who accomplishes wonders. Then he and his wife watched.
20 Or comme la flamme montait de l'autel vers le ciel, l'Ange de Yahvé monta dans cette flamme sousles yeux de Manoah et de sa femme, et ils tombèrent la face contre terre.	20 And when the flame of the altar ascended to heaven, the Angel of the Lord ascended in the flame. And when Manoah and his wife had seen this, they fell prone on the ground.
21 L'Ange de Yahvé ne se montra plus désormais à Manoah ni à sa femme, et Manoah comprit alorsque c'était l'Ange de Yahvé.	21 And the Angel of the Lord no longer appeared to them. And immediately, Manoah understood him to be an Angel of the Lord.
22 "Nous allons certainement mourir, dit Manoah à sa femme, car nous avons vu Dieu" --	22 And he said to his wife, “We shall certainly die, since we have seen God.”
23 "Si Yahvé avait eu l'intention de nous faire mourir, lui répondit sa femme, il n'aurait accepté denotre main ni holocauste ni oblation, il ne nous aurait pas fait voir tout cela et, à l'instant même, fait entendrepareille chose."	23 And his wife answered him, “If the Lord wished to kill us, he would not have accepted the holocaust and the libations from our hands. He would not have revealed all these things to us, nor would he have told us the things that are in the future.”
24 La femme mit au monde un fils et elle le nomma Samson. L'enfant grandit, Yahvé le bénit,	24 And so she bore a son, and she called his name Samson. And the boy grew up, and the Lord blessed him.
25 et l'esprit de Yahvé commença à l'agiter au camp de Dan, entre Coréa et Eshtaol.	25 And the Spirit of the Lord began to be with him in the camp of Dan, between Zorah and Eshtaol.
