| 1 Yahvé parla à Moïse et dit: | 1 Now the LORD said to Moses, |
| 2 "Parle à Aaron; tu lui diras: Lorsque tu disposeras les lampes, c'est sur le devant du candélabre queles sept lampes donneront leur lumière." | 2 "Say to Aaron, When you set up the lamps, the seven lamps shall give light in front of the lampstand." |
| 3 Ainsi fit Aaron. Il disposa les lampes sur le devant du candélabre, comme Yahvé l'avait ordonnéMoïse. | 3 And Aaron did so; he set up its lamps to give light in front of the lampstand, as the LORD commanded Moses. |
| 4 Ce candélabre était un ouvrage d'or repoussé, y compris la tige et la corolle qui étaient aussi en orrepoussé. Ce candélabre avait été fait conformément à la vision que Yahvé en avait donnée à Moïse. | 4 And this was the workmanship of the lampstand, hammered work of gold; from its base to its flowers, it was hammered work; according to the pattern which the LORD had shown Moses, so he made the lampstand. |
| 5 Yahvé parla à Moïse et dit: | 5 And the LORD said to Moses, |
| 6 "Prends les Lévites du milieu des Israélites et purifie-les. | 6 "Take the Levites from among the people of Israel, and cleanse them. |
| 7 Ainsi feras-tu pour les purifier: tu feras sur eux une aspersion d'eau lustrale, ils se raseront tout lecorps et laveront leurs vêtements, alors ils seront purs. | 7 And thus you shall do to them, to cleanse them: sprinkle the water of expiation upon them, and let them go with a razor over all their body, and wash their clothes and cleanse themselves. |
| 8 Puis ils prendront un taureau, avec l'oblation conjointe de fleur de farine pétrie dans l'huile, et tuprendras un second taureau pour un sacrifice pour le péché. | 8 Then let them take a young bull and its cereal offering of fine flour mixed with oil, and you shall take another young bull for a sin offering. |
| 9 Tu feras alors avancer les Lévites devant la Tente du Rendez-vous, et tu rassembleras toute lacommunauté des Israélites. | 9 And you shall present the Levites before the tent of meeting, and assemble the whole congregation of the people of Israel. |
| 10 Lorsque tu auras fait avancer les Lévites devant Yahvé, les Israélites leur imposeront les mains. | 10 When you present the Levites before the LORD, the people of Israel shall lay their hands upon the Levites, |
| 11 Puis Aaron offrira les Lévites, en faisant le geste de présentation devant Yahvé, de la part desIsraélites. Ils seront alors affectés au service de Yahvé. | 11 and Aaron shall offer the Levites before the LORD as a wave offering from the people of Israel, that it may be theirs to do the service of the LORD. |
| 12 Les Lévites poseront ensuite la main sur la tête des taureaux, et tu feras de l'une des bêtes unsacrifice pour le péché, de l'autre un holocauste à Yahvé, afin d'accomplir sur les Lévites le rite d'expiation. | 12 Then the Levites shall lay their hands upon the heads of the bulls; and you shall offer the one for a sin offering and the other for a burnt offering to the LORD, to make atonement for the Levites. |
| 13 Ayant placé les Lévites devant Aaron et ses fils, tu les offriras à Yahvé avec le geste deprésentation. | 13 And you shall cause the Levites to attend Aaron and his sons, and shall offer them as a wave offering to the LORD. |
| 14 C'est ainsi que tu mettras à part les Lévites, du milieu des Israélites, pour qu'ils m'appartiennent. | 14 "Thus you shall separate the Levites from among the people of Israel, and the Levites shall be mine. |
| 15 Les Lévites commenceront alors à faire le service de la Tente du Rendez-vous. Tu les purifieraset tu les offriras avec le geste de présentation | 15 And after that the Levites shall go in to do service at the tent of meeting, when you have cleansed them and offered them as a wave offering. |
| 16 parce qu'ils me sont cédés, à titre de donnés, parmi les Israélites. Ils sont substitués à ceux quiouvrent le sein maternel, aux premiers-nés de tous; parmi les Israélites, je me les suis attribués. | 16 For they are wholly given to me from among the people of Israel; instead of all that open the womb, the first-born of all the people of Israel, I have taken them for myself. |
| 17 Oui, c'est à moi que revient tout premier-né chez les Israélites, homme ou animal: le jour où j'aifrappé tous les premiers-nés en terre d'Egypte, je me les suis consacrés, | 17 For all the first-born among the people of Israel are mine, both of man and of beast; on the day that I slew all the first-born in the land of Egypt I consecrated them for myself, |
| 18 et, à la place de tous les premiers-nés des Israélites, j'ai pris les Lévites. | 18 and I have taken the Levites instead of all the first-born among the people of Israel. |
| 19 Du milieu des Israélites je donne les Lévites à Aaron et à ses fils, à titre de donnés; ils feront pourles Israélites le service cultuel dans la Tente du Rendez-vous et feront sur eux le rite d'expiation, en sortequ'aucun des Israélites ne soit frappé pour s'être approché du sanctuaire." | 19 And I have given the Levites as a gift to Aaron and his sons from among the people of Israel, to do the service for the people of Israel at the tent of meeting, and to make atonement for the people of Israel, that there may be no plague among the people of Israel in case the people of Israel should come near the sanctuary." |
| 20 Moïse, Aaron et toute la communauté des Israélites agirent à l'égard des Lévites selon tout ce queYahvé avait ordonné à Moïse à leur sujet; ainsi agirent les Israélites à leur égard. | 20 Thus did Moses and Aaron and all the congregation of the people of Israel to the Levites; according to all that the LORD commanded Moses concerning the Levites, the people of Israel did to them. |
| 21 Les Lévites se purifièrent, lavèrent leurs vêtements, et Aaron les offrit avec le geste deprésentation devant Yahvé. Puis il accomplit sur eux le rite d'expiation pour les purifier. | 21 And the Levites purified themselves from sin, and washed their clothes; and Aaron offered them as a wave offering before the LORD, and Aaron made atonement for them to cleanse them. |
| 22 Les Lévites furent admis à faire leur service dans la Tente du Rendez-vous en présence d'Aaronet de ses fils. Selon ce que Yahvé avait prescrit à Moïse au sujet des Lévites, ainsi agit-on à leur égard. | 22 And after that the Levites went in to do their service in the tent of meeting in attendance upon Aaron and his sons; as the LORD had commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so they did to them. |
| 23 Yahvé parla à Moïse et dit: | 23 And the LORD said to Moses, |
| 24 "Voici pour les Lévites. A partir de l'âge de 25 ans, le Lévite devra servir, en s'acquittant d'unefonction dans la Tente du Rendez-vous. | 24 "This is what pertains to the Levites: from twenty-five years old and upward they shall go in to perform the work in the service of the tent of meeting; |
| 25 A partir de 50 ans, il ne sera plus astreint au service; il n'aura plus de fonction; | 25 and from the age of fifty years they shall withdraw from the work of the service and serve no more, |
| 26 il aidera pourtant ses frères à assurer l'observance dans la Tente du Rendez-vous, mais il n'auraplus de service. Ainsi feras-tu en ce qui concerne les observances des Lévites." | 26 but minister to their brethren in the tent of meeting, to keep the charge, and they shall do no service. Thus shall you do to the Levites in assigning their duties." |
