Livre d'Isaïe 41

JERUSALEM	CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAIN
1 Iles, faites silence pour m'écouter, que les peuples renouvellent leurs forces, qu'ils s'avancent et qu'ilsparlent, ensemble comparaissons au jugement.	1 Let the islands be silent before me, and let the nations take new strength. Let them draw near, and then speak. Let us apply for judgment together.
2 Qui a suscité de l'Orient celui que la justice appelle à sa suite, auquel Il livre les nations, et assujettitles rois? Son épée les réduit en poussière et son arc en fait une paille qui s'envole.	2 Who has raised up a just man from the east, and has called him to follow him? He will place the nations under his gaze, and he will rule over kings. He will cause them to be like dust before his sword, like chaff driven by the wind before his bow.
3 Il les chasse et passe en sécurité par un chemin que ses pieds ne font qu'effleurer.	3 He will pursue them. He will pass by in peace. No trace will appear after his feet.
4 Qui a agi et accompli? Celui qui dès le commencement appelle les générations; moi, Yahvé, je suis lepremier, et avec les derniers je serai encore.	4 Who has worked and accomplished these things, calling to the generations from the beginning? “It is I, the Lord! I am the first and the last.”
5 Les îles ont vu et prennent peur, les extrémités de la terre frémissent, ils sont tout près, ils arrivent.	5 The islands saw it and were afraid. The ends of the earth were stupefied. They drew near and arrived.
6 Chacun aide son compagnon, il dit à l'autre: "Courage!"	6 Each one will help his neighbor and will say to his brother, “Be strengthened.”
7 L'artisan donne courage à l'orfèvre, et celui qui polit au marteau à celui qui bat l'enclume: il dit de lasoudure: "Elle est bonne", il la renforce avec des clous pour qu'elle ne vacille pas.	7 The coppersmith striking with the mallet encouraged him who was forging at that time, saying, “It is ready for soldering.” And he strengthened it with nails, so that it would not be moved.
8 Et toi, Israël, mon serviteur, Jacob, que j'ai choisi, race d'Abraham, mon ami,	8 But you, O Israel, are my servant, O Jacob, whom I have chosen, the offspring of my friend Abraham.
9 toi que j'ai saisi aux extrémités de la terre, que j'ai appelé des contrées lointaines, je t'ai dit: "Tu esmon serviteur, je t'ai choisi, je ne t'ai pas rejeté."	9 For his sake, I have taken you from the ends of the earth, and I have called you from its distant places. And I said to you: “You are my servant. I have chosen you, and I have not cast you aside.”
10 Ne crains pas car je suis avec toi, ne te laisse pas émouvoir car je suis ton Dieu; je t'ai fortifié et jet'ai aidé, je t'ai soutenu de ma droite justicière.	10 Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not turn away, for I am your God. I have strengthened you, and I have assisted you, and the right hand of my just one has upheld you.
11 Voici qu'ils seront honteux et humiliés, tous ceux qui s'enflammaient contre toi. Ils seront réduits àrien et périront, ceux qui te cherchaient querelle.	11 Behold, all who fight against you shall be confounded and ashamed. They will be as if they did not exist, and the men who contradict you will perish.
12 Tu les chercheras et tu ne les trouveras pas, ceux qui te combattaient; ils seront réduits à rien,anéantis, ceux qui te faisaient la guerre.	12 You will seek them, and you will not find them. The men who rebel against you will be as if they did not exist. And the men who make war against you will be like something that has been consumed.
13 Car moi, Yahvé, ton Dieu, je te saisis la main droite, je te dis: "Ne crains pas, c'est moi qui te viensen aide."	13 For I am the Lord your God. I take you by your hand, and I say to you: Do not be afraid. I have helped you.
14 Ne crains pas, vermisseau de Jacob, et vous, pauvres gens d'Israël. C'est moi qui te viens en aide,oracle de Yahvé, celui qui te rachète, c'est le Saint d'Israël.	14 Fear not, O worm of Jacob, you who are dead within Israel. I have helped you, says the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.
15 Voici que j'ai fait de toi un traîneau à battre, tout neuf, à doubles dents. Tu écraseras les montagnes,tu les pulvériseras, les collines, tu en feras de la paille.	15 I have established you like a new threshing cart, having serrated blades. You will thresh the mountains and crush them. And you will turn the hills into chaff.
16 Tu les vanneras, le vent les emportera et l'ouragan les dispersera; pour toi, tu te réjouiras en Yahvé,tu te glorifieras dans le Saint d'Israël.	16 You will winnow them, and the wind will blow them away, and the whirlwind will scatter them. And you shall exult in the Lord; you shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.
17 Les miséreux et les pauvres cherchent de l'eau, et rien! Leur langue est desséchée par la soif. Moi,Yahvé, je les exaucerai, Dieu d'Israël, je ne les abandonnerai pas.	17 The indigent and the poor are seeking water, but there is none. Their tongue has been dried up by thirst. I, the Lord, will heed them. I, the God of Israel, will not abandon them.
18 Sur les monts chauves je ferai jaillir des fleuves, et des sources au milieu des vallées. Je ferai dudésert un marécage et de la terre aride des eaux jaillissantes.	18 I will open rivers in the high hills, and fountains in the midst of the plains. I will turn the desert into pools of water, and the impassable land into streams of water.
19 Je mettrai dans le désert le cèdre, l'acacia, le myrte et l'olivier, je placerai dans la steppe pêle-mêle lecyprès, le platane et le buis,	19 I will plant the cedar in a deserted place, with the thorn, and the myrtle, and the olive tree. In the desert, I will plant the pine, and the elm, and the box tree together,
20 afin que l'on voie et que l'on sache, que l'on fasse attention et que l'on comprenne que la main deYahvé a fait cela, que le Saint d'Israël l'a créé.	20 so that they may see and know, acknowledge and understand, together, that the hand of the Lord has accomplished this, and that the Holy One of Israel has created it.
21 Présentez votre querelle, dit Yahvé, produisez vos arguments, dit le roi de Jacob.	21 Bring your case forward, says the Lord. Bring it here, if you have anything to allege, says the King of Jacob.
22 Qu'ils produisent et qu'ils nous montrent les choses qui doivent arriver. Les choses passées, quefurent-elles? Montrez-le, que nous y réfléchissions et que nous en connaissions la suite. Ou bien faites-nousentendre les choses à venir,	22 Let them approach and announce to us the things that will occur. Announce to us the things that were before. And we will apply our heart to them, and we will know their end. And so, reveal to us the things that will occur.
23 annoncez ce qui doit venir ensuite, et nous saurons que vous êtes des dieux. Au moins, faites bien oufaites mal, que nous éprouvions de l'émoi et de la crainte.	23 Announce the things that will occur in the future, and we will know that you are gods. Likewise, accomplish good or evil, if you are able, and let us speak of it and see it together.
24 Voici, vous êtes moins que rien, et votre oeuvre, c'est moins que néant, vous choisir est abominable.	24 Behold, you exist out of nothing, and your work is from what does not exist; he who has chosen you is an abomination.
25 Je l'ai suscité du Nord et il est venu, depuis le Levant il est appelé par son nom. Il piétine lesgouverneurs comme de la boue, comme le potier pétrit l'argile.	25 I have raised up one from the north, and he will arrive from the rising of the sun. He will call upon my name, and he will reduce magistrates to mud, like a potter working with clay.
26 Qui l'a annoncé dès le principe, pour que nous sachions, et dans le passé, pour que nous disions:C'est juste? Mais nul n'a annoncé, nul n'a fait entendre, nul n'a entendu vos paroles.	26 Who has announced this from its rising, so that we may know it, or from its beginning, so that we may say, “You are just.” There is no one who either announces, or predicts, or hears your words.
27 Prémices de Sion, voici, les voici, à Jérusalem j'envoie un messager,	27 The first one will say to Zion: “Behold, they are here,” and to Jerusalem, “I will present an evangelist.”
28 et je regarde: personne! Parmi eux, pas un qui donne un avis, que je puisse interroger et qui réponde!	28 And I saw, and there was no one among any of them to consult, or who, when I asked, could answer a word.
29 Voici, tous ensemble ils ne sont rien, néant que leurs oeuvres, du vent et du vide leurs statues!	29 Behold, they are all unjust, and their works are empty. Their idols are wind and emptiness.
