| 1 Que soient pleins d'allégresse désert et terre aride, que la steppe exulte et fleurisse; commel'asphodèle | 1 The wilderness and the dry land shall be glad, the desert shall rejoice and blossom; like the crocus |
| 2 qu'elle se couvre de fleurs, qu'elle exulte de joie et pousse des cris, la gloire du Liban lui a été donnée,la splendeur du Carmel et de Saron. C'est eux qui verront la gloire de Yahvé, la splendeur de notre Dieu. | 2 it shall blossom abundantly, and rejoice with joy and singing. The glory of Lebanon shall be given to it, the majesty of Carmel and Sharon. They shall see the glory of the LORD, the majesty of our God. |
| 3 Fortifiez les mains affaiblies, affermissez les genoux qui chancellent. | 3 Strengthen the weak hands, and make firm the feeble knees. |
| 4 Dites aux coeurs défaillants: "Soyez forts, ne craignez pas; voici votre Dieu. C'est la vengeance quivient, la rétribution divine. C'est lui qui vient vous sauver." | 4 Say to those who are of a fearful heart, "Be strong, fear not! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, with the recompense of God. He will come and save you." |
| 5 Alors se dessilleront les yeux des aveugles, et les oreilles des sourds s'ouvriront. | 5 Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf unstopped; |
| 6 Alors le boiteux bondira comme un cerf, et la langue du muet criera sa joie. Parce qu'auront jailli leseaux dans le désert et les torrents dans la steppe. | 6 then shall the lame man leap like a hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing for joy. For waters shall break forth in the wilderness, and streams in the desert; |
| 7 La terre brûlée deviendra un marécage, et le pays de la soif, des eaux jaillissantes; dans les repaires oùgîtaient les chacals on verra des enclos de roseaux et de papyrus. | 7 the burning sand shall become a pool, and the thirsty ground springs of water; the haunt of jackals shall become a swamp, the grass shall become reeds and rushes. |
| 8 Il y aura là une chaussée et un chemin, on l'appellera la voie sacrée; l'impur n'y passera pas; c'est Luiqui pour eux ira par ce chemin, et les insensés ne s'y égareront pas. | 8 And a highway shall be there, and it shall be called the Holy Way; the unclean shall not pass over it, and fools shall not err therein. |
| 9 Il n'y aura pas de lion et la plus féroce des bêtes n'y montera pas, on ne l'y rencontrera pas, mais lesrachetés y marcheront. | 9 No lion shall be there, nor shall any ravenous beast come up on it; they shall not be found there, but the redeemed shall walk there. |
| 10 Ceux qu'a libérés Yahvé reviendront, ils arriveront à Sion criant de joie, portant avec eux une joieéternelle. La joie et l'allégresse les accompagneront, la douleur et les plaintes cesseront. | 10 And the ransomed of the LORD shall return, and come to Zion with singing; everlasting joy shall be upon their heads; they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away. |
