JERUSALEM	NEW AMERICAN BIBLE
1 David demanda: "Est-ce qu'il y a encore un survivant de la famille de Saül, pour que je le traiteavec bonté par égard pour Jonathan?"	1 David asked, "Is there any survivor of Saul's house to whom I may show kindness for the sake of Jonathan?"
2 Or la famille de Saül avait un serviteur, qui se nommait Ciba. On l'appela auprès de David et le roilui dit: "Tu es Ciba?" Il répondit: "Pour te servir."	2 Now there was a servant of the family of Saul named Ziba. He was summoned to David, and the king asked him, "Are you Ziba?" He replied, "Your servant."
3 Le roi lui demanda: "Ne reste-t-il pas quelqu'un de la famille de Saül, pour que je le traite avecune bonté comme celle de Dieu?" Ciba répondit au roi: "Il y a encore un fils de Jonathan qui est perclus des deuxpieds" --	3 Then the king inquired, "Is there any survivor of Saul's house to whom I may show God's kindness?" Ziba answered the king, "There is still Jonathan's son, whose feet are crippled."
4 "Où est-il", demanda le roi, et Ciba répondit au roi: "Il est dans la maison de Makir, fils d'Ammiel,à Lo-Debar."	4 The king said to him, "Where is he?" and Ziba answered, "He is in the house of Machir, son of Ammiel, in Lodebar."
5 Le roi l'envoya donc chercher à la maison de Makir, fils d'Ammiel, de Lo-Debar.	5 So King David sent for him and had him brought from the house of Machir, son of Ammiel, in Lodebar.
6 En arrivant auprès de David, Meribbaal, fils de Jonathan fils de Saül, tomba sur sa face et seprosterna. David dit: Meribbaal!" Et il répondit: "C'est moi, pour te servir."	6 When Meribbaal, son of Jonathan, son of Saul, came to David, he fell prostrate in homage. David said, "Meribbaal," and he answered, "Your servant."
7 David lui dit: "N'aie pas peur, car je veux te traiter avec bonté par égard pour ton père Jonathan. Jete restituerai toutes les terres de Saül ton aïeul et tu mangeras toujours à ma table."	7 "Fear not," David said to him, "I will surely be kind to you for the sake of your father Jonathan. I will restore to you all the lands of your grandfather Saul, and you shall always eat at my table."
8 Meribbaal se prosterna et dit: "Qui est ton serviteur pour que tu fasses grâce à un chien crevé telque moi?"	8 Bowing low, he answered, "What is your servant that you should pay attention to a dead dog like me?"
9 Puis le roi appela Ciba, le serviteur de Saül, et lui dit: "Tout ce qui appartient à Saül et à safamille, je le donne au fils de ton maître.	9 The king then called Ziba, Saul's attendant, and said to him: "I am giving your lord's son all that belonged to Saul and to all his family.
10 Tu travailleras pour lui la terre, toi avec tes fils et tes esclaves, tu en récolteras le produit quiassurera à la famille de ton maître le pain qu'elle mangera; quant à Meribbaal, le fils de ton maître, il prendratoujours ses repas à ma table." Or Ciba avait quinze fils et vingt esclaves.	10 You and your sons and servants must till the land for him. You shall bring in the produce, which shall be food for your lord's family to eat. But Meribbaal, your lord's son, shall always eat at my table." Ziba, who had fifteen sons and twenty servants,
11 Ciba répondit au roi: "Ton serviteur fera tout ce que Monseigneur le roi a ordonné à sonserviteur." Donc Meribbaal mangeait à la table de David, comme l'un des fils du roi.	11 said to the king, "Your servant shall do just as my lord the king has commanded him." And so Meribbaal ate at David's table like one of the king's sons.
12 Meribbaal avait un petit garçon qui se nommait Mika. Tous ceux qui habitaient chez Ciba étaientau service de Meribbaal.	12 Meribbaal had a young son whose name was Mica; and all the tenants of Ziba's family worked for Meribbaal.
13 Mais Meribbaal résidait à Jérusalem, puisqu'il mangeait toujours à la table du roi. Il était perclusdes deux pieds.	13 But Meribbaal lived in Jerusalem, because he always ate at the king's table. He was lame in both feet.
