1 And when Jabin king of Asor had heard these things, he sent to Jobab king of Madon, and to the king of Semeron, and to the king of Achsaph:	1 Tendo Jabin, rei de Asor, ouvido estas coisas, enviou (mensageiros) a Jobab, rei de Madon, ao rei de Semeron e ao rei de Acsaf,
2 And to the kings of the north, that dwelt in the mountains and in the plains over against the south side of Ceneroth, and in the levels and the countries of Dor by the sea side :	2 assim como aos reis do norte, que habitavam nas montanhas e na planície, ao meio-dia de Cenerot, aos das campinas e dos territórios de Dor, junto ao mar,
3 To the Chanaanites also on the ease and on the west, and the Amorrhite, and the Hethite, and the Pherezite, and the Jebusite in the mountains: to the Hevite also who dwelt at the foot of Hermon in the land of Maspha.	3 ao Cananeu do oriente e do ocidente, ao Amorreu, ao Heteu, ao Fereseu, ao Jebuseu das montanhas, e também ao Heveu, que habitava nas faldas do Hermon na terra de Masfa.
4 And they all came out with their troops, a people exceeding numerous as the sand that is on the sea shore, their horses also and chariots a very great multitude,	4 Todos estes saíram com as suas tropas, multidão tão numerosa como a areia que há sobre as praias do mar, com um número imenso de cavalos e carros.
5 And all these kings assembled together at the waters of Merom, to fight against Israel.	5 Todos estes reis se juntaram perto das águas de Merom para combaterem contra Israel.
6 And the Lord said to Josue: Fear them not: for to morrow at this same hour I will deliver all these to be slain in the sight of Israel: thou shalt hamstring their horses, and thou shalt burn their chariots with fire.	6 O Senhor disse a Josué: Não os temas, porque amanhã, a esta mesma hora, tos entregarei a todos para serem passados à espada à vista de Israel; jarretarás os seus cavalos e queimarás os seus carros.
7 And Josue came, and all the army with him, against them to the waters of Merom on a sudden, and fell upon them.	7 Josué, com todo o exército, marchou de improviso contra eles, até às águas de Merom, e precipitou-se sobre eles.
8 And the Lord delivered them into the hands of Israel. And they defeated them, and chased them as far as the great Sidon, and the waters of Maserophot, and the field of Masphe, which is on the east side thereof. He slew them all, so as to leave no remains of them:	8 O Senhor os entregou nas mãos de Israel, que os derrotou e perseguiu até Sidónia a grande, até às águas de Maserefot e até ao campo de Masfe, que está ao seu lado oriental. Passou-os todos à espada, de sorte que não deixou vivo um só;
9 And he did as the Lord had commanded him, he hamstringed their horses and burned their chariots.	9 e fez como o Senhor lhe tinha ordenado: jarretou os seus cavalos e pôs fogo aos seus carros.
10 And presently turning back he took Asor: and slew the king thereof with the sword. Now Asor of old was the head of all these kingdoms.	10 Voltando logo, tomou Asor e matou à espada o seu rei. Asor antigamente tinha o principado sobre todos estes reinos.
11 And he cut off all the souls that abode there: he left not in it any remains, but utterly destroyed all, and burned the city itself with fire.	11 Passou à espada toda a gente que ali morava; não deixou ser vivo algum, mas devastou tudo até ao extermínio e destruiu com um incêndio a própria cidade.
12 And he took and put to the sword and destroyed all the cities round about, and their kings, as Moses the servant of God had commanded him.	12 Tomou, feriu e devastou as cidades circunvizinhas, e os seus reis, como lhe tinha ordenado Moisés, servo do Senhor.
13 Except the cities that were on hills and high places, the rest Israel burned: only Asor that was very strong he consumed with fire.	13 Israel queimou todas as outras cidades, excepto as que estavam situadas nas colinas e nos lugares elevados; (destas) sòmente Asor, cidade fortíssima, foi consumida pelo fogo.
14 And the children of Israel divided among themselves all the spoil of these cities and the cattle, killing all the men.	14 Os filhos de Israel, depois de matarem todos os homens, repartiram entre si todos os despojos destas cidades e os gados.
15 As the Lord had commanded Moses his servant, so did Moses command Josue, and he accomplished all: he left not one thing undone of all the commandments which the Lord had commanded Moses.	15 Como o Senhor tinha ordenado a Moisés seu servo, assim Moisés ordenou a Josué, e este cumpriu tudo; não omitiu nem uma só palavra de todos os mandamentos, que o Senhor tinha dado a Moisés.
16 So Josue took all the country of the hills, and of the south, and the land of Gosen, and the plains and the west country, and the mountain of Israel, and the plains thereof:	16 Conquistou, assim, Josué todo o país montanhoso e meridional, a terra de Gosen, a planície, a parte ocidental, o monte de Israel, as suas campinas,
17 And part of the mountain that goeth up to Seir as far as Baalgad, by the plain of Libanus under mount Hermon: all their kings he took, smote and slew.	17 e a parte do monte que sobe para a banda de Seir até Baalgad sobre a planície do Líbano, na falda do monte Hermon; tomou todos os seus reis, feriu-os e matou-os.
18 Josue made war a long time against these kings.	18 Durante muito tempo Josué combateu contra estes reis.
19 There was hot a city that delivered itself to the children of Israel, except the Hevite, who dwelt in Gabaon: for he took all by fight.	19 Não houve cidade que se rendesse (espontâneamente) aos filhos de Israel, excepto o Heveu, que habitava em Gabaon; todas as outras as tomaram à força de armas.
20 For it was the sentence of the Lord, that their hearts should be hardened, and they should fight against Israel, and fall, and should not deserve any clemency, and should be destroyed as the Lord had commanded Moses.	20 Era desígnio do Senhor que os seus corações se endurecessem, e que combatessem contra Israel, para que Israel os derrotasse, sem compaixão, e os destruísse, como o Senhor o tinha ordenado a Moisés.
21 At that time Josue came and cut off the Enacims from the mountains, from Hebron, and Dabir, and Anab, and from all the mountain of Juda and Israel, and destroyed their cities.	21 Naquele tempo Josué acometeu e matou os Enacins (gigantes) das montanhas de Hebron, de Dabir, de Anab, de todas as montanhas de Judá e de Israel, e destruiu as suas cidades.
22 He left not any of the stock of the Enacims, in the land of the children of Israel: except the cities of Gaza, and Geth, and Azotus, in which alone they were left.	22 Não deixou um só da raça dos Enacins na terra dos filhos de Israel, excepto sòmente os que ficaram nas cidades de Gaza, de Get e de Azoto.
23 So Josue took all the land, as the Lord spoke to Moses, and delivered it in possession to the children of Israel, according to their divisions and tribes. And the land rested from wars.	23 Conquistou pois Josué todo o país, conforme o Senhor tinha dito a Moisés, e entregou a sua posse aos filhos de Israel por porções segundo as suas tribos. E cessou a guerra no país.
