| 3 IO rendo grazie a Dio, al qual servo fin da’ miei antenati, in pura coscienza; che non resto mai di ritener la memoria di te nelle mie orazioni, notte e giorno; | 3 I thank God whom I serve with a clear conscience, as did my fathers, when I remember you constantly in my prayers. |
| 4 desideroso di vederti, ricordandomi delle tue lagrime, acciocchè io sia ripieno d’allegrezza; | 4 As I remember your tears, I long night and day to see you, that I may be filled with joy. |
| 5 riducendomi a memoria la fede non finta che è in te, la qual prima abitò in Loide tua avola, ed in Eunice tua madre; or son persuaso che abita in te ancora | 5 I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, dwells in you. |
| 6 Per la qual cagione io ti rammemoro che tu ravvivi il dono il Dio, il quale è in te per l’imposizione delle mie mani. | 6 Hence I remind you to rekindle the gift of God that is within you through the laying on of my hands; |
| 7 Poichè Iddio non ci ha dato spirito di timore; ma di forza, e d’amore, e di correzione. | 7 for God did not give us a spirit of timidity but a spirit of power and love and self-control. |
| 8 Non recarti adunque a vergogna la testimonianza del Signor nostro, nè me suo prigione; anzi partecipa le afflizioni dell’evangelo, secondo la virtù di Dio. | 8 Do not be ashamed then of testifying to our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but share in suffering for the gospel in the power of God, |
| 9 Il qual ci ha salvati, e ci ha chiamati per santa vocazione; non secondo le nostre opere, ma secondo il proprio proponimento, e grazia, la quale ci è stata data in Cristo Gesù avanti i tempi de’ secoli. | 9 who saved us and called us with a holy calling, not in virtue of our works but in virtue of his own purpose and the grace which he gave us in Christ Jesus ages ago, |
| 10 Ed ora è stata manifestata per l’apparizione del Salvator nostro Gesù Cristo, che ha distrutta la morte, ed ha prodotta in luce la vita, e l’immortalità, per l’evangelo. | 10 and now has manifested through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, who abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel. |

| 15 Tu sai questo: che tutti quelli che son nell’Asia si son ritratti da me; de’ quali è Figello, ed Ermogene. | 15 You are aware that all who are in Asia turned away from me, and among them Phygelus and Hermogenes. |
| 16 Conceda il Signore misericordia alla famiglia di Onesiforo; perciocchè spesse volte egli mi ha ricreato, e non si è vergognato della mia catena. | 16 May the Lord grant mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, for he often refreshed me; he was not ashamed of my chains, |
