Lettera ai Colossesi 1

DIODATI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 PAOLO, apostolo di Gesù Cristo, per la volontà di Dio, e il fratello Timoteo;	1 From Paul, by the wil of God an apostle of Christ Jesus, and from our brother Timothy
2 a’ santi, e fedeli fratelli in Cristo, che sono in Colosse. Grazia a voi, e pace, da Dio nostro Padre, e dal Signor Gesù Cristo	2 to God's holy people in Colossae, our faithful brothers in Christ. Grace and peace to you from God ourFather.
3 NOI rendiam grazie a Dio, e Padre del Signor nostro Gesù Cristo, facendo del continuo orazione per voi;	3 We give thanks for you to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, continual y in our prayers,
4 avendo udita la fede vostra in Cristo Gesù, e la vostra carità inverso tutti i santi;	4 ever since we heard about your faith in Christ Jesus and the love that you show towards all God's holypeople
5 per la speranza che vi è riposta ne’ cieli, la quale innanzi avete udita nella parola della verità dell’evangelo.	5 because of the hope which is stored up for you in heaven. News of this hope reached you not long agothrough the word of truth, the gospel
6 Il quale è pervenuto a voi, come ancora per tutto il mondo; e fruttifica, e cresce, siccome ancora fra voi, dal dì che voi udiste, e conosceste la grazia di Dio in verità.	6 that came to you in the same way as it is bearing fruit and growing throughout the world. It has had thesame effect among you, ever since you heard about the grace of God and recognised it for what it truly is.
7 Come ancora avete imparato da Epafra, nostro caro conservo, il quale è fedel ministro di Cristo per voi.	7 This you learnt from Epaphras, our very dear fel ow-worker and a trustworthy deputy for us as Christ'sservant,
8 Il quale ancora ci ha dichiarata la vostra carità in Ispirito	8 and it was he who also told us all about your love in the Spirit.
9 Perciò ancora noi, dal dì che abbiamo ciò udito, non restiamo di fare orazione per voi e di richiedere che siate ripieni della conoscenza della volontà d’esso in ogni sapienza, ed intelligenza spirituale.	9 That is why, ever since the day he told us, we have never failed to remember you in our prayers and askthat through perfect wisdom and spiritual understanding you should reach the ful est knowledge of his will
10 Acciocchè camminiate condegnamente al Signore, per compiacergli in ogni cosa, fruttificando in ogni opera buona, e crescendo nella conoscenza di Dio;	10 and so be able to lead a life worthy of the Lord, a life acceptable to him in all its aspects, bearing fruit in every kind of good work and growing in knowledge of God,
11 essendo fortificati in ogni forza, secondo la possanza della sua gloria, ad ogni sofferenza e pazienza, con allegrezza;	11 fortified, in accordance with his glorious strength, with al power always to persevere and endure,
12 rendendo grazie a Dio, e Padre, che ci ha fatti degni di partecipar la sorte de’ santi nella luce.	12 giving thanks with joy to the Father who has made you able to share the lot of God's holy people andwith them to inherit the light.
13 Il quale ci ha riscossi dalla podestà delle tenebre, e ci ha trasportati nel regno del Figliuolo dell’amor suo.	13 Because that is what he has done. It is he who has rescued us from the ruling force of darkness andtransferred us to the kingdom of the Son that he loves,
14 In cui abbiamo la redenzione per lo suo sangue, la remission de’ peccati.	14 and in him we enjoy our freedom, the forgiveness of sin.
15 EGLI è l’immagine dell’Iddio invisibile, il primogenito d’ogni creatura.	15 He is the image of the unseen God, the first-born of al creation,
16 Poichè in lui sono state create tutte le cose, quelle che son ne’ cieli, e quelle che son sopra la terra; le cose visibili e le invisibili; e troni, e signorie, e principati, e podestà; tutte le cose sono state create per lui, e per cagione di lui.	16 for in him were created all things in heaven and on earth: everything visible and everything invisible,thrones, ruling forces, sovereignties, powers -- al things were created through him and for him.
17 Ed egli è avanti ogni cosa, e tutte le cose consistono in lui.	17 He exists before al things and in him al things hold together,
18 Ed egli stesso è il capo del corpo della chiesa; egli, dico, che è il principio, il primogenito da’ morti; acciocchè in ogni cosa tenga il primo grado.	18 and he is the Head of the Body, that is, the Church. He is the Beginning, the first-born from the dead,so that he should be supreme in every way;
19 Perciocchè è piaciuto al Padre che tutta la pienezza abiti in lui;	19 because God wanted al ful ness to be found in him
20 ed avendo fatta la pace per il sangue della croce d’esso, riconciliarsi per lui tutte le cose; così quelle che sono sopra la terra, come quelle che sono ne’ cieli.	20 and through him to reconcile al things to him, everything in heaven and everything on earth, by makingpeace through his death on the cross.
21 E voi stessi, che già eravate alieni, e nemici con la mente, nelle opere malvage;	21 You were once estranged and of hostile intent through your evil behaviour;
22 pure ora vi ha riconciliati nel corpo della sua carne, per la morte, per farvi comparire davanti a sè santi, ed irreprensibili, e senza colpa.	22 now he has reconciled you, by his death and in that mortal body, to bring you before himself holy,faultless and irreproachable-
23 Se pure perseverate nella fede, essendo fondati e fermi; e non essendo smossi dalla speranza dell’evangelo che voi avete udito, il quale è stato predicato fra ogni creatura che è sotto il cielo; del quale io Paolo sono stato fatto ministro.	23 as long as you persevere and stand firm on the solid base of the faith, never letting yourselves driftaway from the hope promised by the gospel, which you have heard, which has been preached to every creatureunder heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become the servant.
24 ORA mi rallegro nelle mie sofferenza per voi, e per mia vicenda compio nella mia carne ciò che resta ancora a compiere delle afflizioni di Cristo, per lo corpo d’esso, che è la chiesa.	24 It makes me happy to be suffering for you now, and in my own body to make up all the hardships thatstill have to be undergone by Christ for the sake of his body, the Church,
25 Della quale io sono stato fatto ministro, secondo la dispensazione di Dio, che mi è stata data inverso voi, per compiere il servigio della parola di Dio.	25 of which I was made a servant with the responsibility towards you that God gave to me, that ofcompleting God's message,
26 Il misterio, che è stato occulto da secoli ed età; ed ora è stato manifestato a’ santi d’esso.	26 the message which was a mystery hidden for generations and centuries and has now been revealed tohis holy people.
27 A’ quali Iddio ha voluto far conoscere quali sieno le ricchezze della gloria di questo misterio inverso i Gentili, che è Cristo in voi, speranza di gloria.	27 It was God's purpose to reveal to them how rich is the glory of this mystery among the gentiles; it isChrist among you, your hope of glory:
28 Il quale noi annunziamo, ammondendo, ed ammaestrando ogni uomo in ogni sapienza; acciocchè presentiamo ogni uomo compiuto in Cristo Gesù.	28 this is the Christ we are proclaiming, admonishing and instructing everyone in all wisdom, to makeeveryone perfect in Christ.
29 A che ancora io fatico, combattendo secondo la virtù d’esso, la quale opera in me con potenza	29 And it is for this reason that I labour, striving with his energy which works in me mightily.
