DIODATI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 COLUI vien dal deserto, dal paese spaventevole, a guisa di turbini, che passano nel paese del Mezzodì.	1 Proclamation about the coastal desert: As whirlwinds sweeping over the Negeb, he comes from thedesert, from a fearsome country.
2 Una dura visione mi è stata annunziata. Il disleale ha trovato un disleale; il guastatore ha trovato un guastatore. 4 Il mio cuore è smarrito, orrore mi ha conturbato, il vespro de’ miei diletti mi è stato cangiato in ispavento.	4 My heart is bewildered, dread overwhelms me, the twilight I longed for has become my horror.
5 Mentre la tavola sarà apparecchiata, e le guardie staranno alla veletta, e si mangerà, e si berrà; levatevi, capitani, ungete lo scudo.	5 They lay the table, spread the cloth, they eat, they drink. Up, princes, grease the shield!
6 perciocchè così mi ha detto il Signore: Va’, metti uno alla veletta, ed annunzii ciò ch’egli vedrà.	6 For this is what the Lord has told me, 'Go, post a look-out, let him report what he sees.
7 Ed egli vide carri, coppie di cavalieri, carri tirati da asini, e carri tirati da cammelli; e considerò tutto ciò molto attentamente.	7 He will see cavalry, horsemen two by two, men mounted on donkeys, men mounted on camels; let himwatch alertly, be very alert indeed!'
8 E gridò, come un leone: Io sto, Signore, del continuo nella veletta di giorno, e sto in piè nella mia guardia tutte le notti.	8 Then the look-out shouted, 'On the watchtower, Lord, I stay al day and at my post I stand al night.
9 Ed ecco, son venuti carri d’uomini, coppie di cavalieri. 16 Perciocchè il Signore mi ha detto così: Infa un anno, quale è il termine degli anni di un servitore tolto a prezzo, tutta la gloria di Chedar verrà meno.	16 For this is what the Lord has told me, 'In one year's time as a hired worker reckons it, al the glory ofKedar will be finished
17 E il rimanente del numero de’ forti arcieri de’ figliuoli di Chedar sarà poco; perciocchè il Signore Iddio d’Israele ha parlato	17 and, of the valiant archers, the Kedarites, hardly any wil be left, for Yahweh, God of Israel, hasspoken.'
