Proverbi 12

DIODATI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Chi ama la correzione ama la scienza; Ma chi odia la riprensione è insensato	1 Whoever loves discipline, loves knowledge, stupid are those who hate correction.
2 L’uomo da bene ottiene benevolenza dal Signore; Ma egli condannerà l’uomo malizioso	2 The honest obtains Yahweh's favour, the schemer incurs his condemnation.
3 L’uomo non sarà stabilito per empietà; E la radice de’ giusti non sarà smossa	3 No one is made secure by wickedness, but nothing shakes the roots of the upright.
4 La donna di valore è la corona del suo marito; Ma quella che reca vituperio gli è come un tarlo nelle ossa	4 A capable wife, her husband's crown, a shameless wife, a cancer in his bones.
5 I pensieri de’ giusti son dirittura; Ma i consigli degli empi son frode	5 The plans of the upright are honest, the intrigues of the wicked are full of deceit.
6 La parole degli empi tendono ad insidiare al sangue; Ma la bocca degli uomini diritti li riscoterà	6 The words of the wicked are snares to shed blood, what the honest say keeps them safe.
7 In un voltar degli empi, essi non saranno più; Ma la casa de’ giusti starà in piè	7 Once thrown down, the wicked are no more, but the house of the upright stands firm.
8 L’uomo sarà lodato secondo il suo senno; Ma chi è stravolto d’animo sarà in isprezzo	8 Prudence wins praise, but a tortuous heart incurs only contempt.
9 Meglio è colui del quale non si fa stima, e pure ha un servitore, Che colui che fa il borioso, ed ha mancamento di pane	9 Better a common fel ow who has a slave than someone who gives himself airs and has nothing to eat.
10 L’uomo giusto ha cura della vita della sua bestia; Ma le viscere degli empi son crudeli	10 The upright has compassion on his animals, but the heart of the wicked is ruthless.
11 Chi lavora la sua terra sarà saziato di pane; Ma chi va dietro agli uomini oziosi è scemo d’intelletto	11 Whoever works his land shall have bread and to spare, but no one who chases fantasies has anysense.
12 L’empio appetisce la rete de’ malvagi; Ma la radice de’ giusti mette fuori	12 The godless delights in the snare of the wicked, but the root of the upright bears fruit.
13 Il laccio del malvagio è nella dislealtà delle labbra; Ma il giusto uscirà di distretta	13 In the sin of the lips lies a disastrous trap, but the upright finds a way out of misfortune.
14 L’uomo sarà saziato di beni per lo frutto della sua bocca; E Dio renderà all’uomo la retribuzione dell’opere delle sue mani	14 Abundance of good things is the fruit of the lips; labour brings its own return.
15 La via dello stolto è diritta al suo parere; Ma chi ascolta consiglio è savio	15 Fools think the way they go is straight, the wise listens to advice.
16 Il cruccio dello stolto è conosciuto lo stesso giorno; Ma l’avveduto copre il vituperio	16 The fool shows anger straightaway, the discreet conceals dislike.
17 Chi parla verità rapporta il giusto; Ma il falso testimonio rapporta frode	17 To tel the truth is to further justice, a false witness is nothing but deceit.
18 Ei vi è tale che pronunzia parole simile a coltellate; Ma la lingua de’ savi è medicina	18 Thoughtless words can wound like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.
19 Il labbro verace sarà stabile in perpetuo; Ma la lingua bugiarda sarà sol per un momento	19 Sincere lips endure for ever, the lying tongue lasts only a moment.
20 Inganno è nel cuor di coloro che macchinano del male; Ma vi è allegrezza per quelli che consigliano pace	20 Deceit is in the heart of the schemer, joy with those who give counsels of peace.
21 Niuna molestia avverrà al giusto; Ma gli empi saranno ripieni di male	21 No harm can come to the upright, but the wicked are swamped by misfortunes.
22 Le labbra bugiarde son cosa abbominevole al Signore; Ma coloro che operano in verità son graditi da lui	22 Lying lips are abhorrent to Yahweh; dear to him those who make truth their way of life.
23 L’uomo avveduto copre la scienza; Ma il cuor degli stolti pubblica la follia	23 The discreet keeps knowledge hidden, the heart of fools proclaims their folly.
24 La mano de’ diligenti signoreggerà; Ma la pigra sarà tributaria	24 For the diligent hand, authority; for the slack hand, forced labour.
25 Il cordoglio nel cuor dell’uomo l’abbatte; Ma la buona parola lo rallegra	25 Worry makes a heart heavy, a kindly word makes it glad.
26 Il giusto abbonda in beni più che il suo prossimo; Ma la via degli empi li fa andare errando	26 The upright shows the way to a friend; the way of the wicked leads them astray.
27 Il pigro non arrostisce la sua cacciagione; Ma i beni dell’uomo diligente sono preziosi	27 The idle has no game to roast; diligence is anyone's most precious possession.
28 Nella via della giustizia vi è vita; E nel cammino de’ suoi sentieri non vi è morte	28 In the way of uprightness is life, the ways of the vengeful lead to death.
