| 1 Hermanos, mi mayor deseo y lo que pido en mi oración a Dios es que ellos se salven. | 1 Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved. |
| 2 Yo atestiguo en favor de ellos que tienen celo por Dios, pero un celo mal entendido. | 2 I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but it is not enlightened. |
| 3 Porque desconociendo la justicia de Dios y tratando de afirmar la suya propia, rehusaron someterse a la justicia de Dios, | 3 For, being ignorant of the righteousness that comes from God, and seeking to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness. |
| 4 ya que el término de la Ley es Cristo, para justificación de todo el que cree. | 4 For Christ is the end of the law, that every one who has faith may be justified. |
| 5 Moisés, en efecto, escribe acerca de la justicia que proviene de la Ley: "El hombre que la practique vivirá por ella". | 5 Moses writes that the man who practices the righteousness which is based on the law shall live by it. |
| 6 En cambio, la justicia que proviene de la fe habla así: No digas en tu corazón: ¿Quién subirá al cielo?, esto es, para hacer descender a Cristo. | 6 But the righteousness based on faith says, Do not say in your heart, "Who will ascend into heaven?" (that is, to bring Christ down) |
| 7 O bien: ¿Quién descenderá al Abismo?, esto es, para hacer subir a Cristo de entre los muertos. | 7 or "Who will descend into the abyss?" (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). |
| 8 ¿Pero qué es lo que dice la justicia?: La palabra está cerca de ti, en tu boca y en tu corazón, es decir la palabra de la fe que nosotros predicamos. | 8 But what does it say? The word is near you, on your lips and in your heart (that is, the word of faith which we preach); |
| 9 Porque si confiesas con tu boca que Jesús es el Señor y crees en tu corazón que Dios lo resucitó de entre los muertos, serás salvado. | 9 because, if you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. |
| 10 Con el corazón se cree para alcanzar la justicia, y con la boca se confiesa para obtener la salvación. | 10 For man believes with his heart and so is justified, and he confesses with his lips and so is saved. |
| 11 Así lo afirma la Escritura: "El que cree en él, no quedará confundido". | 11 The scripture says, "No one who believes in him will be put to shame." |
| 12 Porque no hay distinción entre judíos y los que no lo son: todos tienen el mismo Señor, que colma de bienes a quienes lo invocan. | 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; the same Lord is Lord of all and bestows his riches upon all who call upon him. |
| 13 Ya que todo el que invoque el nombre del Señor se salvará. | 13 For, "every one who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved." |
| 14 Pero, ¿como invocarlo sin creer en él? ¿Y cómo creer, sin haber oído hablar de él? ¿Y cómo oír hablar de él, si nadie lo predica? | 14 But how are men to call upon him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without a preacher? |
| 15 ¿Y quiénes predicarán, si no se los envía? Como dice la Escritura: "¡Qué hermosos son los pasos de los que anuncian buenas noticias!" | 15 And how can men preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who preach good news!" |
| 16 Pero no todos aceptan la Buena Noticia. Así lo dice Isaías: "Señor, ¿quién creyó en nuestra predicación?" | 16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel; for Isaiah says, "Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?" |
| 17 La fe, por lo tanto, nace de la predicación y la predicación se realiza en virtud de la Palabra de Cristo. | 17 So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes by the preaching of Christ. |
| 18 Yo me pregunto: ¿Acaso no la han oído? Sí, por supuesto: Por toda la tierra se extiende su voz y sus palabras llegan hasta los confines del mundo. | 18 But I ask, have they not heard? Indeed they have; for "Their voice has gone out to all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world." |

Ya lo dijo Moisés: Yo los pondré celosos con algo que no es un pueblo, los irritaré con una nación insensata. | 19 Again I ask, did Israel not understand? First Moses says, "I will make you jealous of those who are not a nation; with a foolish nation I will make you angry." |
| 20 E Isaías se atreve a decir: "Me encontraron los que no me buscaban y me manifesté a aquellos que no preguntaban por mí". | 20 Then Isaiah is so bold as to say, "I have been found by those who did not seek me; I have shown myself to those who did not ask for me." |
| 21 De Israel, en cambio, afirma: "Durante todo el día tendí mis manos a un pueblo infiel y rebelde". | 21 But of Israel he says, "All day long I have held out my hands to a disobedient and contrary people." |
