Isaías 17

EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Oráculo sobre Damasco, ¡Miren! damasco ya no será una ciudad, se ha convertido en un montón de ruinas,	1 Proclamation about Damascus: Damascus wil soon cease to be a city, it wil become a heap of ruins.
2 Sus poblaciones, abandonadas para siempre, serán para los rebaños: allí pacerán sin que nadie los moleste.	2 Its towns, abandoned for ever, wil be pastures for flocks; there they wil rest with no one to disturbthem.
3 Efraím perderá su plaza fuerte y Damasco; la realeza. El resto de Aram tendrá la misma suerte que la gloria de los hijos de Israel –oráculo del Señor de los ejércitos–.	3 Ephraim wil be stripped of its defences and Damascus of its sovereignty; and the remnant of Aram wilbe treated like the glory of the Israelites -- declares Yahweh Sabaoth.
4 Aquel día, disminuirá a la gloria de Jacob y enflaquecerá la gordura de su cuerpo.	4 When that day comes, Jacob's glory wil diminish, from being fat he wil grow lean;
5 Será como cuando el segador recoge la mies y su brazo siega las espigas, como cuando se desgranan las espigas en el valle de Refaím	5 as when a reaper gathers in the standing corn, harvesting the ears of corn with his arm, or when theyglean the ears in the Val ey of Rephaim,
6 y sólo queda un residuo; o como cuando se golpea un olivo: quedan dos o tres aceitunas en lo alto de la copa, cuatro o cinco en las ramas del árbol frutal –oráculo del Señor, Dios de Israel–.	6 nothing wil remain but pickings, as when an olive tree is beaten; two or three berries left on thetopmost bough, four or five berries on the branches of the tree -- declares Yahweh, God of Israel.
7 Aquel día, el hombre volverá la mirada hacia su Creador, y sus ojos mirarán al Santo de Israel.	7 That day, a man wil look to his Creator and his eyes wil turn to the Holy One of Israel.
8 Ya no volverá la mirada hacia los altares que son obra de sus manos, ni mirará hacia los postes sagrados y los altares de incienso que fabricaron sus dedos.	8 He will no longer look to altars, his own handiwork, or to what his own fingers have made: the sacredpoles and incense-altars.
9 Aquel día, tus ciudades de refugio serán abandonadas como las de los jivitas y los amorreos delante de los hijos de Israel, y habrá una desolación.	9 That day, its cities of refuge wil be abandoned as were the woods and heaths at the Israelites'advance: there wil be desolation.
10 Porque tú has olvidado al Dios de tu salvación y no te has acordado de la Roca de tu refugio. Por eso plantas plantaciones deliciosas e injertas gajos extranjeros.	10 Since you have forgotten the God of your salvation, and failed to keep the Rock, your refuge, in mind,you plant pleasure-gardens, you sow exotic seeds;
11 El mismo día que plantas, los ves crecer, y a la mañana siguiente, ves germinar tu semilla. Pero la cosecha se pierde en un día funesto, y el dolor es incurable.	11 the day you plant them, you get them to sprout, and, next morning, your seedlings are in flower; butthe harvest wil vanish on the day of disease and incurable pain.
12 ¡Ah, ese rugido de pueblos numerosos, que rugen como rugen los mares! ¡Ese bramido de naciones, que braman como las aguas encrespadas.	12 Disaster! The thunder of vast hordes, a thunder like the thunder of the seas, the roar of nationsroaring like the roar of mighty floods,
13 El los amenaza, y huyen bien lejos, empujados como paja por el viento de las montañas, como la flor del cardo por el vendaval.	13 of nations roaring like the roar of ocean! He rebukes them and far away they flee, driven like chaff onthe mountains before the wind, like an eddy of dust before the storm.
14 ¡Al atardecer, sobreviene el espanto, antes del amanecer, ya no existen más! Esta es la parte de los que nos despojan y la suerte de los que nos saquean.	14 At evening al is terror, by morning al have disappeared. Such wil be the lot of those who plunder us,such, the fate of our despoilers.
