EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	DOUAI-RHEIMS
1 Hay un momento para todo y un tiempo para cada cosa bajo el sol:	1 All things have their season, and in their times all things pass under heaven.
2 un tiempo para nacer y un tiempo para morir, un tiempo para plantar y un tiempo para arrancar lo plantado;	2 A time to be born and a time to die. A time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted.
3 un tiempo para matar y un tiempo para curar, un tiempo para demoler y un tiempo para edificar;	3 A time to kill, and a time to heal. A time to destroy, and a time to build.
4 un tiempo para llorar y un tiempo para reír, un tiempo para lamentarse y un tiempo para bailar;	4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh. A time to mourn, and a time to dance.
5 un tiempo para arrojar piedras y un tiempo para recogerlas, un tiempo para abrazarse y un tiempo para separarse;	5 A time to scatter stones, and a time to gather. A time to embrace, and a time to be far from embraces.
6 un tiempo para buscar y un tiempo para perder, un tiempo para guardar y un tiempo para tirar;	6 A time to get, and a time to lose. A time to keep, and a time to cast away.
7 un tiempo para rasgar y un tiempo para coser, un tiempo para callar y un tiempo para hablar;	7 A time to rend, and a time to sew. A time to keep silence, and a time to speak.
8 un tiempo para amar y un tiempo para odiar, un tiempo de guerra y un tiempo de paz.	8 A time of love, and a time of hatred. A time of war, and a time of peace.
9 ¿Qué provecho obtiene el trabajador con su esfuerzo?	9 What hath man more of his labour?
10 Yo vi la tarea que Dios impuso a los hombres para que se ocupen de ella.	10 I have seen the trouble, which God hath given the sons of men to be exercised in it.
11 El hizo todas las cosas apropiadas a su tiempo, pero también puso en el corazón del hombre el sentido del tiempo pasado y futuro, sin que el hombre pueda descubrir la obra que hace Dios desde el principio hasta el fin.	11 He hath made all things good in their time, and hath delivered the world to their consideration, so that man cannot flnd out the work which God hath made from the beginning to the end.
12 Yo comprendí que lo único bueno para el hombre es alegrarse y buscar el bienestar en la vida.	12 And I have known that there was no better thing than to rejoice, and to do well in this life.
13 Después de todo, que un hombre coma y beba y goce del bienestar con su esfuerzo, eso es un don de Dios.	13 For every man that eateth and drinketh, and seeth good of his labour, this is the gift of God.
14 Yo reconocí que todo lo que hace Dios dura para siempre: no hay que añadirle ni quitarle nada, y Dios obra así para que se tenga temor en su presencia.	14 I have learned that all the works which God hath made, continue for ever: we cannot add any thing, nor take away from those things which God hath made that he may be feared.
15 Lo que es, ya fue antes, lo que ha de ser, ya existió, y Dios va en busca de lo que es fugaz.	15 That which hath been made, the same continueth: the things that shall be, have already been: and God restoreth that which is past.
16 Yo he visto algo más bajo el sol: en lugar del derecho, la maldad y en lugar de la justicia, la iniquidad.	16 I saw under the sun in the place of judgment wickedness, and in the place of justice iniquity.
17 Entonces me dije a mí mismo: Dios juzgará al justo y al malvado, porque allá hay un tiempo para cada cosa y para cada acción.	17 And I said in my heart: God shall judge both the just and the wicked, and then shall be the time of every thing.
18 Yo pensé acerca de los hombres: si Dios los prueba, es para que vean que no se distinguen de los animales.	18 I said in my heart concerning the sons of men, that God would prove them, and shew them to be like beasts.
19 Porque los hombres y los animales tienen todos la misma suerte: como mueren unos, mueren también los otros. Todos tienen el mismo aliento vital y el hombre no es superior a las bestias, porque todo es vanidad.	19 Therefore the death of man, and of beasts is one, and the condition of them both is equal: as man dieth, so they also die: all things breathe alike, and man hath nothing more than beast: all things are subject to vanity.
20 Todos van hacia el mismo lugar; todo viene del polvo y todo retorna al polvo.	20 And all things go to one place: of earth they were made, and into earth they return together.
21 ¿Quién sabe si el aliento del hombre sube hacia lo alto, y si el aliento del animal baja a lo profundo de la tierra?	21 Who knoweth if the spirit of the children of Adam ascend upward, and if the spirit of the beasts descend downward?
22 Por eso, yo vi que lo único bueno para el hombre es alegrarse de sus obras, ya que esta es su parte: ¿Quién, en efecto, lo llevará a ver lo que habrá después de él?	22 And I have found that nothing is better than for a man to rejoice in his work, and that this is his portion. For who shall bring him to know the things that shall be after him?
