| 1 L'eunuque, dans lequel ce que Dieu a destiné à la conservation de l'espèce aura été ou retranché ou blessé d'une blessure incurable, n'entrera point dans l'assemblée du Seigneur. | 1 "He whose testicles are crushed or whose male member is cut off shall not enter the assembly of the LORD. |
| 2 Celui qui est bâtard, c'est-à-dire qui est né d'une femme prostituée, n'entrera point dans l'assemblée du Seigneur jusqu'à la dixième génération. | 2 "No bastard shall enter the assembly of the LORD; even to the tenth generation none of his descendants shall enter the assembly of the LORD. |
| 3 L'Ammonite et le Moabite n'entreront jamais dans l'assemblée du Seigneur, pas même après la dixième gérération, | 3 "No Ammonite or Moabite shall enter the assembly of the LORD; even to the tenth generation none belonging to them shall enter the assembly of the LORD for ever; |
| 4 parce qu'ils n'ont pas voulu venir au-devant de vous avec du pain et de l'eau, lorsque vous étiez en chemin, après votre sortie d'Egypte; et parce qu'ils ont gagné et fait venir contre vous Balaam, fils de Béor, de la Mésopotamie de Syrie, afin qu'il vous maudît. | 4 because they did not meet you with bread and with water on the way, when you came forth out of Egypt, and because they hired against you Balaam the son of Beor from Pethor of Mesopotamia, to curse you. |
| 5 Mais le Seigneur votre Dieu ne voulut point écouter Balaam; et, parce qu'Il vous aimait, Il obligea Balaam de vous donner des bénédictions au lieu des malédictions qu'il voulait vous donner. | 5 Nevertheless the LORD your God would not hearken to Balaam; but the LORD your God turned the curse into a blessing for you, because the LORD your God loved you. |
| 6 Vous ne ferez point de paix avec ces peuples, et vous ne leur procurerez jamais aucun bien tant que vous vivrez. | 6 You shall not seek their peace or their prosperity all your days for ever. |
| 7 Vous n'aurez pas l'Iduméen en abomination, parce qu'il est votre frère; ni l'Egyptien, parce que vous avez été étranger en son pays. | 7 "You shall not abhor an Edomite, for he is your brother; you shall not abhor an Egyptian, because you were a sojourner in his land. |
| 8 Ceux qui seront nés de ces deux peuples entreront à la troisième génération dans l'assemblée du Seigneur. | 8 The children of the third generation that are born to them may enter the assembly of the LORD. |
| 9 Lorsque vous marcherez contre vos ennemis pour les combattre, vous aurez soin de vous abstenir de toute action mauvaise. | 9 "When you go forth against your enemies and are in camp, then you shall keep yourself from every evil thing. |
| 10 Si un homme d'entre vous a souffert quelque chose d'impur dans un songe pendant la nuit, il sortira hors du camp, | 10 "If there is among you any man who is not clean by reason of what chances to him by night, then he shall go outside the camp, he shall not come within the camp; |
| 11 et il n'y reviendra point jusqu'à ce qu'au soir il se soit lavé dans l'eau; et, après le coucher du soleil, il reviendra dans le camp. | 11 but when evening comes on, he shall bathe himself in water, and when the sun is down, he may come within the camp. |
| 12 Vous aurez un lieu hors du camp où vous irez pour vos besoins naturels. | 12 "You shall have a place outside the camp and you shall go out to it; |
| 13 Et portant un bâton pointu à votre ceinture, lorsque vous voudrez vous soulager, vous ferez un creux en rond, et vous recouvrirez les excréments de terre | 13 and you shall have a stick with your weapons; and when you sit down outside, you shall dig a hole with it, and turn back and cover up your excrement. |
| 14 après vous être soulagé. (Car le Seigneur votre Dieu marche au milieu de votre camp pour vous délivrer de tout péril, et pour vous livrer vos ennemis.) Ainsi vous aurez soin que votre camp soit pur et saint, et qu'il n'y paraisse rien qui le souille, de peur que le Seigneur ne vous abandonne. | 14 Because the LORD your God walks in the midst of your camp, to save you and to give up your enemies before you, therefore your camp must be holy, that he may not see anything indecent among you, and turn away from you. |
| 15 Vous ne livrerez point entre les mains de son maître l'esclave qui s'est réfugié chez vous. | 15 "You shall not give up to his master a slave who has escaped from his master to you; |
| 16 Il demeurera parmi vous au lieu où il lui plaira, et il trouvera le repos et la sûreté dans quelqu'une de vos villes, sans que vous lui fassiez aucune peine. | 16 he shall dwell with you, in your midst, in the place which he shall choose within one of your towns, where it pleases him best; you shall not oppress him. |
| 17 Il n'y aura point de femme prostituée d'entre les filles d'Israël, ni de fornicateur d'entre les enfants d'Israël.. | 17 "There shall be no cult prostitute of the daughters of Israel, neither shall there be a cult prostitute of the sons of Israel. |
| 18 Vous n'offrirez point dans la maison du Seigneur votre Dieu la récompense de la prostituée, ni le prix du chien, quelque voeu que vous ayez fait: parce que l'un et l'autre est abominable devant le Seigneur votre Dieu. | 18 You shall not bring the hire of a harlot, or the wages of a dog, into the house of the LORD your God in payment for any vow; for both of these are an abomination to the LORD your God. |
| 19 Vous ne prêterez à usure à votre frère ni de l'argent, ni du grain, ni quelque autre chose que ce soit, | 19 "You shall not lend upon interest to your brother, interest on money, interest on victuals, interest on anything that is lent for interest. |
| 20 mais seulement aux étrangers. Vous prêterez à votre frère ce dont il aura besoin, sans en tirer aucun intérêt; afin que le Seigneur votre Dieu vous bénisse en tout ce que vous ferez dans le pays dont vous devez entrer en possession. | 20 To a foreigner you may lend upon interest, but to your brother you shall not lend upon interest; that the LORD your God may bless you in all that you undertake in the land which you are entering to take possession of it. |
| 21 Lorsque vous aurez fait un voeu au Seigneur votre Dieu, vous ne différerez point de l'accomplir, parce que le Seigneur votre Dieu vous en demandera compte, et que si vous différez, cela vous sera imputé à péché. | 21 "When you make a vow to the LORD your God, you shall not be slack to pay it; for the LORD your God will surely require it of you, and it would be sin in you. |
| 22 Vous serez exempt de péché si vous ne voulez faire aucune promesse; | 22 But if you refrain from vowing, it shall be no sin in you. |
| 23 mais, lorsqu'une fois la parole sera sortie de votre bouche, vous l'accomplirez, et vous ferez selon ce que vous avez promis au Seigneur votre Dieu, l'ayant fait de votre propre volonté, et l'ayant déclaré par votre bouche. | 23 You shall be careful to perform what has passed your lips, for you have voluntarily vowed to the LORD your God what you have promised with your mouth. |
| 24 Quand vous entrerez dans la vigne de votre prochain, vous pourrez manger des raisins autant que vous voudrez; mais vous n'en apporterez point dehors avec vous. | 24 "When you go into your neighbor's vineyard, you may eat your fill of grapes, as many as you wish, but you shall not put any in your vessel. |
| 25 Si vous entrez dans les blés de votre ami, vous en pourrez cueillir des épis et les froisser avec la main; mais vous n'en pourrez pas couper avec la faucille. | 25 When you go into your neighbor's standing grain, you may pluck the ears with your hand, but you shall not put a sickle to your neighbor's standing grain. |
