| 1 La troisième année de Cyrus, roi des Perses, une parole fut révélée à Daniel, surnommé Baltassar, parole vraie et grande force; et il comprit la parole, car il est besoin d'intelligence dans les visions. | 1 In the third year of Cyrus, king of the Persians, a message was revealed to Daniel, called Belteshazzar, and a true word, and great strength. And he understood the message, for understanding is needed in a vision. |
| 2 En ces jours-là, moi, Daniel, je pleurai tous les jours pendant trois semaines; | 2 In those days, I, Daniel, mourned for three weeks of days. |
| 3 je ne mangeai pas de pain agréable au goût, ni chair ni vin n'entrèrent dans ma bouche, et je ne m'oignis d'aucun parfum, jusqu'à ce que ces trois semaines fussent accomplies. | 3 I ate no desirable bread, and neither meat, nor wine, entered my mouth, neither was I anointed with ointment, until the three weeks of days were completed. |
| 4 Le vingt-quatrième jour du premier mois, j'étais près du grand fleuve qui est le Tigre. | 4 But on the twenty-fourth day of the first month, I was next to the great river, which is the Tigris. |
| 5 Et je levai les yeux et je vis: et voici qu'il y avait un homme vêtu de lin, et dont les reins étaient ceints d'or très pur; | 5 And I lifted up my eyes, and I saw, and behold, one man clothed in linen, and his waist was wrapped with the finest gold, |
| 6 son corps était comme le chrysolithe, son visage brillait comme l'éclair, et ses yeux étaient comme une lampe ardente; ses bras, et tout le reste du corps jusqu'aux pieds, étaient comme un airain étincelant, et le bruit de ses paroles était comme le bruit d'une multitude. | 6 and his body was like the golden stone, and his face had the appearance of lightning, and his eyes that of a burning lamp, and his arms and all that is downward all the way to the feet had the appearance of glowing brass, and his speaking voice was like the voice of a multitude. |
| 7 Moi, Daniel, je vis seul la vision; les hommes qui étaient avec moi ne la virent pas, mais une terreur extrême se précipita sur eux, et ils s'enfuirent dans les lieux cachés. | 7 But I, Daniel, alone saw the vision, for the men who were with me did not see it, but an exceedingly great terror rushed over them, and they fled into hiding. |
| 8 Et moi, resté seul, je vis cette grande vision; aucune force ne resta en moi, mon visage fut tout changé, je tombai en faiblesse et je perdis toute vigueur. | 8 And I, having been left alone, saw this great vision, and there remained no strength in me, moreover, my appearance was altered, and I languished, not having any strength. |
| 9 J'entendis le bruit de ses paroles, et, l'entendant, je gisais sur ma face, consterné, et mon visage était collé à terre. | 9 And I heard the voice of his words, and when I heard, I lay down in confusion on my face, and my face was close to the ground. |
| 10 Et voici qu'une main me toucha, et me dressa sur mes genoux et sur mes mains. | 10 And behold, a hand touched me, and raised me onto my knees and the knuckles of my hands. |
| 11 Et il me dit: Daniel, homme de désirs, comprends les paroles que je vais te dire, et tiens-toi debout; car je suis maintenant envoyé vers toi. Lorsqu'il m'eut dit cela, je me tins debout en tremblant. | 11 And he said to me, “Daniel, man of longing, understand the words that I speak to you, and stand yourself upright, for I am now sent to you.” And when he had said these words to me, I stood trembling. |
| 12 Et il me dit: Ne crains point, Daniel, car dès le premier jour où tu as appliqué ton coeur à comprendre et à t'affliger en présence de ton Dieu, tes paroles ont été exaucées, et je suis venu à cause de tes paroles. | 12 And he said to me, “Do not be afraid, Daniel, because from the first day that you set your heart to understand, by afflicting yourself in the sight of your God, your words have been heeded, and I have arrived because of your words. |
| 13 Le prince du royaume des Perses m'a résisté vingt et un jours; mais voici que Michel, un des premiers princes, est venu à mon secours; et je suis demeuré là, près du roi des Perses. | 13 But the leader of the kingdom of the Persians resisted me for twenty-one days, and behold, Michael, one of the primary leaders, came to help me, and I remained there next to the king of the Persians. |
| 14 Je suis venu pour t'apprendre ce qui doit arriver à ton peuple aux derniers jours, car la vision concerne encore ces temps-là. | 14 But I have come to teach you what will happen to your people in the latter days, because the vision is for a long time from now.” |
| 15 Tandis qu'il me disait ces paroles, je baissai le visage contre terre et je me tus. | 15 And while he was speaking words to me in this way, I cast my face down to the ground and was silent. |
| 16 Et voici que quelqu'un, qui avait la ressemblance d'un homme, toucha mes lèvres; et ouvrant la bouche, je parlai, et je dis à celui qui se tenait devant moi: Mon seigneur, à ta vue tous mes nerfs se sont relâchés, et il n'est resté en moi aucune force; | 16 And behold, something in the likeness of a son of man touched my lips. Then, opening my mouth, I spoke and said to him who stood before me, “My lord, at the sight of you, my limbs became weak and no strength has remained in me. |
| 17 et comment le serviteur de mon seigneur pourra-t-il parler avec mon seigneur? Car il n'est resté en moi aucune force, et le souffle même me manque. | 17 And so, how can the servant of my lord speak with my lord? For no strength remains in me; and even my breathing is hindered.” |
| 18 Celui qui avait la figure d'un homme me toucha donc de nouveau et me fortifia. Et il dit: | 18 Therefore, he who looked like a man, touched me again and strengthened me. |
| 19 Ne crains point, homme de désirs; que la paix soit avec toi! reprends vigueur et sois ferme. Et, comme il me parlait, je repris des forces et je dis: Parle, mon seigneur, parce que tu m'as fortifié. | 19 And he said, “Fear not, O man of longing. May peace be with you. Take courage and be strong.” And when he spoke to me, I recovered, and I said, “Speak, my lord, for you have strengthened me.” |
| 20 Alors il dit: Sais-tu pourquoi je suis venu à toi? Je m'en retourne maintenant pour combattre contre le prince des Perses. Lorsque je sortais, le prince des Grecs est apparu. | 20 And he said, “Do you not know why I have come to you? And next I will return, to fight against the leader of the Persians. When I was leaving, there appeared the leader of the Greeks arriving. |
| 21 Mais je t'annoncerai ce qui est marqué dans l'écriture de vérité; et nul ne m'aide dans toutes ces choses, sinon Michel, votre prince. | 21 But, in truth, I announce to you what is expressed in the scripture of truth. And no one is my helper in all these things, except Michael your leader.” |
