| 1 Il arriva, la douzième année, le premier jour du douzième mois, que la parole du Seigneur me fut adressée en ces termes: | 1 In the twelfth year, on the first day of the twelfth month, the word of Yahweh was addressed to me asfol ows, |
| 2 Fils de l'homme, prononce une lamentation sur le pharaon, roi d'Egypte, et dis-lui: Tu as été semblable au lion des nations, et au dragon qui est dans la mer; tu frappais de la corne dans tes fleuves, tu troublais les eaux avec tes pieds, et tu agitais leurs flots. | 2 'Son of man, raise a lament for Pharaoh king of Egypt. Say to him: "Young lion of nations, you aredestroyed! Once you were like a crocodile in the lagoons; emerging from your rivers, you churned up the waterwith your trampling and fouled their streams. |
| 3 C'est pourquoi ainsi parle le Seigneur Dieu: J'étendrai sur toi Mon rets, dans une multitude de peuples, et Je te tirerai dans Mon filet. | 3 "The Lord Yahweh says this: I shal throw my net over you in a great concourse of nations; and theywil trawl you up in my net. Then I shal leave you high and dry, |
| 4 Je te jetterai à terre, et Je te laisserai sur la face des champs; Je ferai habiter sur toi tous les oiseaux du ciel, et Je rassasierai de toi toutes les bêtes de la terre. | 4 I shal throw you out into the wilds and make al the birds of heaven settle on you, and glut all thebeasts of the earth with you. |
| 5 Je mettrai ta chair sur les montagnes, et Je remplirai les collines de ta pourriture. | 5 I shal strew your flesh on your mountains and fil the val eys with your corruption; |
| 6 J'arroserai la terre de ton sang corrompu, sur les montagnes, et les vallées seront remplies de toi. | 6 I shal water the country with what flows from you, with your blood, on the mountainsides, and you wilfill the ravines. |
| 7 Et quand tu seras éteint, J'obscurcirai le ciel, et Je ferai noircir ses étoiles; Je couvrirai le soleil d'une nuée, et la lune ne donnera plus sa lumière. | 7 When I extinguish you I shal cover the skies and darken the stars. I shall cover the sun with cloudsand the moon wil not give its light. |
| 8 Je ferai pleurer sur toi tous les luminaires du ciel, et Je répandrai les ténèbres sur ton pays, dit le Seigneur Dieu, lorsque tes blessés tomberont au milieu du pays, dit le Seigneur Dieu. | 8 I shal dim every luminary in heaven because of you and cover your country in darkness -declares theLord Yahweh. |
| 9 Je ferai frémir le coeur de peuples nombreux, lorsque J'aurai annoncé ta ruine parmi les nations, dans des pays que tu ne connais pas. | 9 "I shall grieve the heart of many peoples when I bring about your destruction among the nations, incountries unknown to you. |
| 10 Je frapperai de stupeur des peuples nombreux à cause de toi; leurs rois seront saisis d'effroi et d'horreur à cause de toi, lorsque Mon épée aura commencé de voler devant leur face, et soudain ils trembleront chacun pour sa vie, au jour de ta ruine. | 10 I shal stun many peoples with shock at your fate; their kings wil tremble with horror at your fate,when I brandish my sword before their eyes. The day you fal , each wil tremble in terror for his life. |
| 11 Car ainsi paarle le Seigneur Dieu: L'épée du roi de Babylone viendra sur toi. | 11 For the Lord Yahweh says this: The sword of the king of Babylon wil overtake you. |
| 12 Je renverserai ta multitude par les épées des forts; toutes ces nations sont invincibles; elles détruiront l'orgueil de l'Egypte, et sa multitude sera dissipée. | 12 I shal make your throngs of subjects fall at the swords of my warriors. They are the most barbarousof nations. They wil annihilate the pride of Egypt, and al its throngs will be destroyed. |
| 13 Je ferai périr tout son bétail, qui était auprès des grandes eaux; le pied de l'homme ne les troublera plus désormais, et le sabot des bêtes ne les troublera plus. | 13 I shal also destroy al its cattle beside the plentiful waters. No human foot wil churn them, no animalfoot wil churn them up again; |
| 14 Je rendrai alors leurs eaux très pures, et Je ferai couler leurs fleuves comme l'huile, dit le Seigneur Dieu, | 14 then I shal let their waters settle and make their rivers glide like oil -- declares the Lord Yahweh. |
| 15 lorsque J'aurai désolé le pays d'Egypte, lorsque tout le pays sera dépouillé de ce qui le remplissait, et que J'aurai frappé tous ses habitants; et ils sauront que Je suis le Seigneur. | 15 "When I reduce Egypt to a ruin and the country is stripped of its contents, when I strike all those wholive there, they wil know that I am Yahweh. |
| 16 C'est une lamentation, et on la prononcera; les filles des nations la prononceront; on la prononcera sur l'Egypte et sur toute sa multitude, dit le Seigneur Dieu. | 16 "Such is the lament which the daughters of the nations wil raise. They wil raise it over Egypt and allits throng. This is the lament they will raise -- declares the Lord Yahweh." ' |

| 18 Fils de l'homme, chante un chant lugubre sur la multitude de l'Egypte; précipite-la, elle et les filles des nations puissantes, au plus profond de la terre, avec ceux qui descendent dans la fosse. | 18 'Son of man, lament over the throng of Egypt, for down she must go with the daughters of majesticnations to the depths of the underworld with those who sink into oblivion. |
| 19 Qui surpasses-tu en beauté? Descends, et dors avec les incirconcis. | 19 'Whom do you surpass in beauty? Down with you, make your bed with the uncircumcised, |
| 20 Ils tomberont au milieu de ceux qui ont été tués par l'épée; l'épée a été tirée; ils ont entraîné l'Egypte et tous ses peuples. | 20 with those who have been slaughtered by the sword. (The sword has been given, it has been drawn.)She and al her throngs have fallen. |
| 21 Les plus puissants d'entre les forts lui parleront du milieu du séjour des morts, eux qui sont descendus avec ses auxiliaires, et qui, tués par l'épée, sont morts incirconcis. | 21 From the depths of Sheol, the mightiest heroes, her al ies, wil say to her, "They have come down,they have lain down, uncircumcised, slaughtered by the sword." |
| 22 Là est Assur avec toute sa multitude; ses sépulcres sont autour de lui; ils ont tous été tués, ils sont tombés par l'épée. | 22 'Assyria is there and al her hordes, with their graves al round her; all of them slaughtered, fal en bythe sword; |
| 23 Leurs sépulcres sont au plus profond de l'abîme, et toute sa multitude est autour de son sépulcre; ils ont tous été tués, ils sont tombés par l'épée, eux qui autrefois avaient répandu l'effroi dans la terre des vivants. | 23 their graves have been made in the deepest part of the abyss, and her hordes, with their graves alround her; all of them slaughtered, kil ed by the sword, who once spread terror through the world of the living. |
| 24 Là est Elam, et toute sa multitude est autour de son sépulcre; ils ont tous été tués, ils sont tombés par l'épée, ils sont descendus incirconcis au plus profond de la terre, eux qui avaient répandu l'effroi dans la terre des vivants, et ils ont porté leur ignominie avec ceux qui descendent dans la fosse. | 24 'Elam is there and al her throng round her grave, al of them slaughtered, fallen by the sword; theyhave gone down uncircumcised to the depths of the underworld, who once spread terror throughout the world ofthe living. They have borne their shame with those who sink into oblivion. |
| 25 On a placé sa couche parmi ceux qui ont été tués, au milieu de tous ses peuples; son sépulcre est autour de lui; ce sont tous des incirconcis, et ils sont morts par l'épée; car ils avaient répandu l'effroi dans la terre des vivants; et ils ont porté leur ignominie avec ceux qui descendent dans la fosse; ils ont été placés au milieu des morts. | 25 Among the slaughtered, they have put a bed for her, among her throng with their tombs round her, alof them uncircumcised, slaughtered by the sword for having spread terror throughout the world of the living.They have borne their shame with those who sink into oblivion. They have been put among the slaughtered. |
| 26 Là sont Mosoch et Thubal, et toute leur multitude; leurs sépulcres sont autour d'eux; ce sont tous des incirconcis, et ils ont été tués et sont tombés par l'épée, car ils avaient répandu l'effroi dans la terre des vivants. | 26 'Meshech, Tubal are there and al her throng, with their graves round her, al of them uncircumcised,slaughtered by the sword for having spread terror through the world of the living. |
| 27 Ils ne dormiront point avec les héros qui sont tombés et qui étaient incirconcis, qui sont descendus dans le séjour des morts avec leurs armes, et ont mis leurs épées sous leurs têtes; leurs iniquités ont pénétré jusque dans leurs os, parce qu'ils étaient devenus l'effroi des héros dans la terre des vivants. | 27 They do not lie with the heroes who fell long ago, those who went down to Sheol ful y armed, whohad their swords laid under their heads and their shields put under their bones, since the heroes inspired theworld of the living with terror. |
| 28 Toi aussi, tu seras donc broyé au milieu des incirconcis, et tu dormiras avec ceux qui ont été tués par l'épée. | 28 But you wil be broken with the uncircumcised and lie with those slaughtered by the sword. |
| 29 Là est l'Idumée, avec ses rois et tous ses chefs, qui ont été mis, ainsi que leur armée, parmi ceux qui ont été tués par l'épée, et qui ont dormi avec les incirconcis, avec ceux qui descendent dans la fosse. | 29 'Edom is there, her kings and al her princes who, despite their valour, have been laid with thoseslaughtered by the sword. They lie with the uncircumcised, with those who sink into oblivion. |
| 30 Là sont tous les princes de l'aquilon, et tous les chasseurs, qui ont été conduits avec ceux qui avaient été tués; ils sont tremblants et confus malgré leur vaillance, ils dorment incirconcis avec ceux qui ont été tués par l'épée, et ils ont porté leur confusion avec ceux qui descendent dans la fosse. | 30 'Al the princes of the north and al the Sidonians are there, who have gone down with theslaughtered, because of the terror which their power inspired. Ashamed, uncircumcised, they lie among thoseslaughtered by the sword and bear their shame with those who sink into oblivion. |
| 31 Le pharaon les a vus, et il s'est consolé au sujet de sa multitude qui a été tuée par l'épée; le pharaon et toute son armée, dit le Seigneur Dieu. | 31 'Pharaoh wil see them and take comfort at the sight of al this throng slaughtered by the sword --Pharaoh and al his throng -- declares the Lord Yahweh. |
| 32 Car J'ai répandu l'effroi dans la terre des vivants, et le pharaon, ainsi que toute sa multitude, a dormi au milieu des incirconcis, avec ceux qui ont été tués par l'épée, dit le Seigneur Dieu. | 32 For having spread terror through the world of the living, he wil be laid with the uncircumcised, withthose slaughtered by the sword, Pharaoh and al his throng -- declares the Lord Yahweh.' |
