| 1 On dit d'ordinaire : Si un homme répudie sa femme, et que celle-ci, après l'avoir quitté, en épouse un autre, son mari la reprendra-t-il encore? Cette femme n'est-elle pas impure et souillée? Mais toi, tu as fait le mal avec de nombreux amants, et néanmoins reviens à Moi, dit le Seigneur, et Je te recevrai. | 1 They say, If a man put away his wife, and she go from him, and become another man's, shall he return unto her again? shall not that land be greatly polluted? but thou hast played the harlot with many lovers; yet return again to me, saith the LORD. |
| 2 Lève les yeux en haut, et vois où tu ne t'es point prostituée. Tu étais assise sur les chemins, les attendant comme un voleur, et tu as souillé le pays par tes fornications et par tes méchancetés. | 2 Lift up thine eyes unto the high places, and see where thou hast not been lien with. In the ways hast thou sat for them, as the Arabian in the wilderness; and thou hast polluted the land with thy whoredoms and with thy wickedness. |
| 3 C'est pour cela que les eaux des pluies ont été retenues, et que la pluie de l'arrière-saison a manqué. Tu as pris le front d'une femme débauchée, tu n'as pas voulu rougir. | 3 Therefore the showers have been withholden, and there hath been no latter rain; and thou hadst a whore's forehead, thou refusedst to be ashamed. |
| 4 Appelle-Moi donc au moins maintenant, dis-Moi : Vous êtes mon père, Vous êtes le guide de ma virginité; | 4 Wilt thou not from this time cry unto me, My father, thou art the guide of my youth? |
| 5 serez-Vous à jamais irrité, et Votre colère durera-t-elle toujours? Voilà comment tu as parlé, et tu as commis le mal autant que tu as pu. | 5 Will he reserve his anger for ever? will he keep it to the end? Behold, thou hast spoken and done evil things as thou couldest. |
| 6 Le Seigneur me dit, au temps du roi Josias : As-tu vu ce qu'a fait la rebelle Israël? Elle s'en est allée sur toute montagne élevée et sous tout arbre touffu, et là elle s'est prostituée. | 6 The LORD said also unto me in the days of Josiah the king, Hast thou seen that which backsliding Israel hath done? she is gone up upon every high mountain and under every green tree, and there hath played the harlot. |
| 7 Et après qu'elle eut fait tous ces crimes, J'ai dit : Reviens à Moi; et elle n'est pas revenue. | 7 And I said after she had done all these things, Turn thou unto me. But she returned not. And her treacherous sister Judah saw it. |
| 8 Et la perfide Juda, sa soeur, a vu que J'avais répudié la rebelle Israël, et que Je lui avais donné l'acte de divorce; or la perfide Juda, sa soeur, n'a pas eu de crainte, mais elle s'en est allée, et elle s'est prostituée, elle aussi; | 8 And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also. |
| 9 elle a souillé le pays par le débordement de sa prostitution, et elle a commis l'adultère avec la pierre et le bois. | 9 And it came to pass through the lightness of her whoredom, that she defiled the land, and committed adultery with stones and with stocks. |
| 10 Et après tout cela, la perfide Juda, sa soeur, n'est point revenue à Moi de tout son coeur, mais d'une manière mensongère, dit le Seigneur. | 10 And yet for all this her treacherous sister Judah hath not turned unto me with her whole heart, but feignedly, saith the LORD. |
| 11 Et le Seigneur me dit : La rebelle Israêl a paru juste, en comparaison de la perfide Juda. | 11 And the LORD said unto me, The backsliding Israel hath justified herself more than treacherous Judah. |
| 12 Va, et crie ces discours du côté de l'aquilon, et dis : Reviens, rebelle Israël, dit le Seigneur, et Je ne détournerai point de vous Mon visage; car Je suis saint, dit le Seigneur, et Ma colère ne dure pas éternellement. | 12 Go and proclaim these words toward the north, and say, Return, thou backsliding Israel, saith the LORD; and I will not cause mine anger to fall upon you: for I am merciful, saith the LORD, and I will not keep anger for ever. |
| 13 Cependant reconnais ton iniquité, car tu as péché envers le Seigneur ton Dieu, et tu as dirigé çà et là tes pas vers les étrangers sous tout arbre touffu, et tu n'as pas écoutê Ma voix, dit le Seigneur. | 13 Only acknowledge thine iniquity, that thou hast transgressed against the LORD thy God, and hast scattered thy ways to the strangers under every green tree, and ye have not obeyed my voice, saith the LORD. |
| 14 Convertissez-vous, enfants rebelles, dit le Seigneur, car Je suis votre époux, et Je vous prendrai, un d'une ville et deux d'une famille, et Je vous introduirai dans Sion. | 14 Turn, O backsliding children, saith the LORD; for I am married unto you: and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion: |
| 15 Et Je vous donnerai des pasteurs selon Mon coeur, qui vous paîtront avec science et doctrine. | 15 And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding. |
| 16 Et lorsque vous serez multipliés, et que vous vous serez accrus dans le pays, en ces jours-là, dit le Seigneur, on ne dira plus : L'arche de l'alliance du Seigneur; elle ne viendra plus à la pensée, on ne s'en souviendra plus, on ne la visitera plus, et on n'en fera point une autre. | 16 And it shall come to pass, when ye be multiplied and increased in the land, in those days, saith the LORD, they shall say no more, The ark of the covenant of the LORD: neither shall it come to mind: neither shall they remember it; neither shall they visit it; neither shall that be done any more. |
| 17 En ce temps-là on appellera Jérusalem le trône du Seigneur; toutes les nations se rassembleront à Jérusalem au nom du Seigneur, et elles ne suivront plus les égarements de leur coeur très mauvais. | 17 At that time they shall call Jerusalem the throne of the LORD; and all the nations shall be gathered unto it, to the name of the LORD, to Jerusalem: neither shall they walk any more after the imagination of their evil heart. |
| 18 En ces jours, la maison de Juda ira à la maison d'Israël, et elles viendront ensemble de la terre de l'aquilon à la terre que J'ai donnée à vos pères. | 18 In those days the house of Judah shall walk with the house of Israel, and they shall come together out of the land of the north to the land that I have given for an inheritance unto your fathers. |
| 19 Et Moi J'avais dit : Comment te mettrai-Je parmi Mes enfants, et te donnerai-Je une terre désirable, le magnifique héritage des armées des nations? Et J'ai dit : Tu M'appelleras ton père, et tu ne cesseras jamais de Me suivre. | 19 But I said, How shall I put thee among the children, and give thee a pleasant land, a goodly heritage of the hosts of nations? and I said, Thou shalt call me, My father; and shalt not turn away from me. |
| 20 Mais comme une femme qui dédaigne celui qui l'aime, ainsi la maison de Jacob Mm'a dédaigné, dit le Seigneur. | 20 Surely as a wife treacherously departeth from her husband, so have ye dealt treacherously with me, O house of Israel, saith the LORD. |
| 21 Une voix a été entendue dans les chemins, les pleurs et les hurlements des enfants d'Israël, parce qu'ils ont rendu leur voie criminelle, et qu'ils ont oublié le Seigneur leur Dieu. | 21 A voice was heard upon the high places, weeping and supplications of the children of Israel: for they have perverted their way, and they have forgotten the LORD their God. |
| 22 Convertissez-vous, enfants rebelles, et Je guérirai vos infidélités. Voici que nous revenons à Vous; car Vous êtes le Seigneur notre Dieu. | 22 Return, ye backsliding children, and I will heal your backslidings. Behold, we come unto thee; for thou art the LORD our God. |
| 23 En vérité les collines et la multitude des montagnes n'étaient que mensonge; le salut d'Israël est vraiment dans le Seigneur notre Dieu. | 23 Truly in vain is salvation hoped for from the hills, and from the multitude of mountains: truly in the LORD our God is the salvation of Israel. |
| 24 Dès notre jeunesse les idoles ont dévoré le fruit des travaux de nos pères, leurs troupeaux de brebis et de boeufs, leurs fils et leurs filles. | 24 For shame hath devoured the labour of our fathers from our youth; their flocks and their herds, their sons and their daughters. |
| 25 Nous dormirons dans notre confusion, et notre honte nous couvrira, parce que nous avons péché contre le Seigneur notre Dieu, nous et nos pères, depuis notre jeunesse jusqu'à ce jour, et que nous n'avons point entendu la voix du Seigneur notre Dieu. | 25 We lie down in our shame, and our confusion covereth us: for we have sinned against the LORD our God, we and our fathers, from our youth even unto this day, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD our God. |
