| 1 Le Seigneur parla encore à Moïse sur la montagne du Sinaï, et Il lui dit: | 1 And the LORD spake unto Moses in mount Sinai, saying, |
| 2 Parlez aux enfants d'Israël, et dites-leur: Quand vous serez entrés dans la terre que Je vous donnerai, observez le sabbat en l'honneur du Seigneur. | 2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye come into the land which I give you, then shall the land keep a sabbath unto the LORD. |
| 3 Vous sèmerez votre champ six ans de suite, et vous taillerez aussi votre vigne et vous en recueillerez les fruits durant six ans; | 3 Six years thou shalt sow thy field, and six years thou shalt prune thy vineyard, and gather in the fruit thereof; |
| 4 Mais la septième année, ce sera le sabbat de la terre, en l'honneur du repos du Seigneur; vous ne sèmerez point votre champ, et vous ne taillerez point votre vigne. | 4 But in the seventh year shall be a sabbath of rest unto the land, a sabbath for the LORD: thou shalt neither sow thy field, nor prune thy vineyard. |
| 5 Vous ne moissonnerez point de ce que la terre aura produit d'elle-même; vous ne recueillerez point les raisins de la vigne, dont vous avez contume d'offrir des prémices, vous ne les recueillerez point sous forme de vendange; car c'est l'année du repos de la terre. | 5 That which groweth of its own accord of thy harvest thou shalt not reap, neither gather the grapes of thy vine undressed: for it is a year of rest unto the land. |
| 6 Mais tout ce qui naîtra alors de soi-même servira à vous nourrir, vous, votre esclave et votre servante, votre mercenaire et l'étranger qui demeure parmi vous; | 6 And the sabbath of the land shall be meat for you; for thee, and for thy servant, and for thy maid, and for thy hired servant, and for thy stranger that sojourneth with thee, |
| 7 Et cela servira encore à nourrir vos bêtes de service et vos troupeaux. | 7 And for thy cattle, and for the beast that are in thy land, shall all the increase thereof be meat. |
| 8 Vous compterez aussi sept semaines d'années, c'est-à-dire sept fois sept, qui font en tout quarante-neuf ans; | 8 And thou shalt number seven sabbaths of years unto thee, seven times seven years; and the space of the seven sabbaths of years shall be unto thee forty and nine years. |
| 9 Et au dixième jour du septième mois, qui est le temps de la fête des Expiations, vous ferez sonner de la trompette dans tout votre pays. | 9 Then shalt thou cause the trumpet of the jubile to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month, in the day of atonement shall ye make the trumpet sound throughout all your land. |
| 10 Vous sanctifierez la cinquantième année, et vous publierez la liberté pour tous les habitants du pays, parce que c'est le jubilé. Tout homme rentrera dans le bien qu'il possédait, et chacun retournera à sa famille d'origine, | 10 And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubile unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family. |
| 11 Parce que c'est le jubilé la cinquantième année. Vous ne sèmerez point et vous ne moissonnerez point ce que la terre aura produit d'elle-même, et vous ne recueillerez point aussi les fruits de vos vignes, pour en offrir les prémices, | 11 A jubile shall that fiftieth year be unto you: ye shall not sow, neither reap that which groweth of itself in it, nor gather the grapes in it of thy vine undressed. |
| 12 Afin de sanctifier le jubilé; mais vous mangerez les premières choses que vous trouverez. | 12 For it is the jubile; it shall be holy unto you: ye shall eat the increase thereof out of the field. |
| 13 En l'année du jubilé tous rentreront dans les biens qu'ils avaient possédés. | 13 In the year of this jubile ye shall return every man unto his possession. |
| 14 Quand vous vendrez quelque chose à un de vos concitoyens, ou que vous achèterez de lui quelque chose, n'attristez point votre frère; mais achetez de lui à proportion des années qui seront écoulées depuis le jubilé. | 14 And if thou sell ought unto thy neighbour, or buyest ought of thy neighbour's hand, ye shall not oppress one another: |
| 15 Et il vous vendra à proportion de ce qui reste de temps pour en recueillir le revenu. | 15 According to the number of years after the jubile thou shalt buy of thy neighbour, and according unto the number of years of the fruits he shall sell unto thee: |
| 16 Plus il restera d'années d'un jubilé jusqu'à l'autre, plus le prix de la chose augmentera; et moins il restera de temps, moins s'achètera ce qu'on achète; car celui qui vend vous vend le temps des récoltes. | 16 According to the multitude of years thou shalt increase the price thereof, and according to the fewness of years thou shalt diminish the price of it: for according to the number of the years of the fruits doth he sell unto thee. |
| 17 N'affligez point ceux qui vous sont unis par une même tribu; mais que chacun craigne son Dieu, parce que Je suis le Seigneur votre Dieu. | 17 Ye shall not therefore oppress one another; but thou shalt fear thy God: for I am the LORD your God. |
| 18 Exécutez Mes préceptes, gardez Mes ordonnances, et accomplissez-les, afin que vous puissiez habiter sur la terre sans aucune crainte, | 18 Wherefore ye shall do my statutes, and keep my judgments, and do them; and ye shall dwell in the land in safety. |
| 19 Et que la terre vous produise ses fruits, dont vous puissiez manger et vous rassasier, sans appréhender la violence de qui que ce soit. | 19 And the land shall yield her fruit, and he shall eat your fill, and dwell therein in safety. |
| 20 Que si vous dites: Que mangerons-nous la septième année, si nous n'avons point semé, et si nous n'avons point recueilli de fruit de nos terres? | 20 And if ye shall say, What shall we eat the seventh year? behold, we shall not sow, nor gather in our increase: |
| 21 Je répandrai Ma bénédiction sur vous en la sixième année, et elle portera autant de fruit que trois autres. | 21 Then I will command my blessing upon you in the sixth year, and it shall bring forth fruit for three years. |
| 22 Vous sèmerez à la huitième année, et vous mangerez vos anciens fruits jusqu'à la neuvième année; vous vivrez des anciens jusqu'à ce qu'il en soit venu de nouveaux. | 22 And ye shall sow the eighth year, and eat yet of old fruit until the ninth year; until her fruits come in ye shall eat of the old store. |
| 23 La terre ne se vendra donc point à perpétuité, parce qu'elle est à Moi, et que vous y êtes comme des étrangers à qui Je la loue. | 23 The land shall not be sold for ever: for the land is mine; for ye are strangers and sojourners with me. |
| 24 C'est pourquoi tous les biens-fonds que vous posséderez se vendront toujours sous condition de rachat. | 24 And in all the land of your possession ye shall grant a redemption for the land. |
| 25 Si votre frère, étant devenu pauvre, vend le petit héritage qu'il possédait, le plus proche parent pourra, s'il le veut, racheter ce que celui-là aura vendu. | 25 If thy brother be waxen poor, and hath sold away some of his possession, and if any of his kin come to redeem it, then shall he redeem that which his brother sold. |
| 26 Que s'il n'a point de proches parents, et qu'il puisse trouver de quoi racheter lui-même son bien, | 26 And if the man have none to redeem it, and himself be able to redeem it; |
| 27 On comptera les récoltes depuis le temps de la vente qu'il a faite; afin que, rendant le surplus à l'acquéreur, il rentre ainsi dans son bien. | 27 Then let him count the years of the sale thereof, and restore the overplus unto the man to whom he sold it; that he may return unto his possession. |
| 28 Que s'il ne peut point trouver de quoi rendre le prix de son bien, celui qui l'aura acheté en demeurera en possession jusqu'à l'année du jubilé. Car, cette année-là, tout bien vendu retourne à son propriétaire qui l'avait possédé d'abord. | 28 But if he be not able to restore it to him, then that which is sold shall remain in the hand of him that hath bought it until the year of jubile: and in the jubile it shall go out, and he shall return unto his possession. |
| 29 Celui qui aura vendu une maison dans l'enceinte des murs d'une ville aura le pouvoir de la racheter pendant un an. | 29 And if a man sell a dwelling house in a walled city, then he may redeem it within a whole year after it is sold; within a full year may he redeem it. |
| 30 S'il ne la rachète point, et s'il a laissé passer l'année, celui qui l'a achetée la possédera, lui et ses enfants, pour toujours, sans qu'elle puisse être rachetée, même au jubilé. | 30 And if it be not redeemed within the space of a full year, then the house that is in the walled city shall be established for ever to him that bought it throughout his generations: it shall not go out in the jubile. |
| 31 Que si cette maison est dans un village qui n'a point de murailles, elle sera vendu d'après les mêmes règles que les terres; et si elle n'a point été rachetée auparavant, elle retournera au propriétaire en l'année du jubilé. | 31 But the houses of the villages which have no wall round about them shall be counted as the fields of the country: they may be redeemed, and they shall go out in the jubile. |
| 32 Les maisons des Lévites qui sont dans les villes peuvent toujours être rachetées. | 32 Notwithstanding the cities of the Levites, and the houses of the cities of their possession, may the Levites redeem at any time. |
| 33 Si elles n'ont point été rachetées, elles retourneront aux propriétaires l'année du jubilé; parce que les maisons que les Lévites ont dans les villes sont l'héritage qu'ils possèdent parmi les enfants d'Israël. | 33 And if a man purchase of the Levites, then the house that was sold, and the city of his possession, shall go out in the year of jubile: for the houses of the cities of the Levites are their possession among the children of Israel. |
| 34 Mais leurs champs situés auprès des villes ne seront point vendus, parce que c'est un bien qu'ils possèdent pour toujours. | 34 But the field of the suburbs of their cities may not be sold; for it is their perpetual possession. |
| 35 Si votre frère est devenu pauvre, et que sa main se soit affaiblie, et si vous l'avez reçu comme un étranger qui est venu d'ailleurs, et qu'il ait vécu avec vous, | 35 And if thy brother be waxen poor, and fallen in decay with thee; then thou shalt relieve him: yea, though he be a stranger, or a sojourner; that he may live with thee. |
| 36 N'exigez de lui aucun intérêt, et ne tirez point de lui plus que vous ne lui avez donné. Craignez votre Dieu, afin que votre frère puisse vivre chez vous. | 36 Take thou no usury of him, or increase: but fear thy God; that thy brother may live with thee. |
| 37 Vous ne lui donnerez point votre argent à usure, et vous n'exigerez point de lui plus de grains que vous ne lui en aurez donné. | 37 Thou shalt not give him thy money upon usury, nor lend him thy victuals for increase. |
| 38 Je suis le Seigneur votre Dieu, qui vous ai fait sortir de l'Egypte, pour vous donner la terre de Chanaan, et pour étre votre Dieu. | 38 I am the LORD your God, which brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, to give you the land of Canaan, and to be your God. |
| 39 Si la pauvreté réduit votre frère à se vendre à vous, vous ne l'opprimerez point en le traitant comme les esclaves; | 39 And if thy brother that dwelleth by thee be waxen poor, and be sold unto thee; thou shalt not compel him to serve as a bondservant: |
| 40 Mais vous le traiterez comme un mercenaire et comme un fermier; il travaillera chez vous jusqu'à l'année du jubilé; | 40 But as an hired servant, and as a sojourner, he shall be with thee, and shall serve thee unto the year of jubile: |
| 41 Et il sortira ensuite avec ses enfants, et retournera à la famille et à l'héritage de ses pères. | 41 And then shall he depart from thee, both he and his children with him, and shall return unto his own family, and unto the possession of his fathers shall he return. |
| 42 Car ils sont Mes esclaves; c'est Moi qui les ai tirés de l'Egypte. Ainsi, qu'on ne les vende point comme les autres esclaves. | 42 For they are my servants, which I brought forth out of the land of Egypt: they shall not be sold as bondmen. |
| 43 N'accablez donc point votre frère par votre puissance; mais craignez votre Dieu. | 43 Thou shalt not rule over him with rigour; but shalt fear thy God. |
| 44 Ayez des esclaves et des servantes pris parmi les nations qui sont autour de vous. | 44 Both thy bondmen, and thy bondmaids, which thou shalt have, shall be of the heathen that are round about you; of them shall ye buy bondmen and bondmaids. |
| 45 Vous aurez aussi pour esclaves les étrangers qui sont venus parmi vous, ou ceux qui sont nés d'eux dans votre pays. | 45 Moreover of the children of the strangers that do sojourn among you, of them shall ye buy, and of their families that are with you, which they begat in your land: and they shall be your possession. |
| 46 Vous les laisserez à vos descendants par un droit héréditaire, et vous en serez les maîtres pour toujours; mais n'opprimez point par votre puissance les enfants d'Israël, qui sont vos frères. | 46 And ye shall take them as an inheritance for your children after you, to inherit them for a possession; they shall be your bondmen for ever: but over your brethren the children of Israel, ye shall not rule one over another with rigour. |
| 47 Si un étranger qui est venu d'ailleurs s'enrichit chez vous par son travail, et qu'un de vos frères, étant devenu pauvre, se vende à lui ou à quelqu'un de sa famille, | 47 And if a sojourner or stranger wax rich by thee, and thy brother that dwelleth by him wax poor, and sell himself unto the stranger or sojourner by thee, or to the stock of the stranger's family: |
| 48 Il pourra être racheté après qu'il aura été vendu. Celui de ses parents qui voudra le racheter, le pourra faire: | 48 After that he is sold he may be redeemed again; one of his brethren may redeem him: |
| 49 Son oncle, ou le fils de son oncle, et celui qui lui est uni par le sang ou par alliance. Que s'il peut lui-même se racheter, il le fera, | 49 Either his uncle, or his uncle's son, may redeem him, or any that is nigh of kin unto him of his family may redeem him; or if he be able, he may redeem himself. |
| 50 En supputant le nombre des années qui resteront depuis le temps où il aura été vendu, jusqu'à l'année du jubilé, et en rabattant à son maître, sur le prix qu'il avait donné en l'achetant, ce qui lui peut être dû à lui-même pour le temps qu'il l'a servi, en comptant ses journées comme celles d'un mercenaire. | 50 And he shall reckon with him that bought him from the year that he was sold to him unto the year of jubile: and the price of his sale shall be according unto the number of years, according to the time of an hired servant shall it be with him. |
| 51 S'il reste encore plusieurs années jusqu'au jubilé, il payera aussi plus d'aargent; | 51 If there be yet many years behind, according unto them he shall give again the price of his redemption out of the money that he was bought for. |
| 52 S'il en reste peu, il comptera avec son maître selon le nombre des années qui resteront, et il lui rendra l'argent à proportion du nombre des années, | 52 And if there remain but few years unto the year of jubile, then he shall count with him, and according unto his years shall he give him again the price of his redemption. |
| 53 En rabattant sur le prix ce qui lui sera dû à lui-même pour le temps qu'il l'aura servi. Que son maître ne le traite point avec dureté et avec violence devant vos yeux. | 53 And as a yearly hired servant shall he be with him: and the other shall not rule with rigour over him in thy sight. |
| 54 Que s'il ne peut être racheté en cette manière, il sortira libre l'année du jubilé avec ses enfants. | 54 And if he be not redeemed in these years, then he shall go out in the year of jubile, both he, and his children with him. |
| 55 Car les enfants d'Israël sont Mes esclaves, eux que J'ai fait sortir de l'Egypte. | 55 For unto me the children of Israel are servants; they are my servants whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God. |
