1 Or le nombre des fils d'Israël qui servaient le roi par brigades, et qu'on relevait tous les mois de l'année, était de vingt-quatre mille hommes à chaque fois : chaque brigade ayant ses chefs de familles, ses tribuns, ses centurions et ses préfets.	1 Now the children of Israel according to their number, the heads of families, captains of thousands and of hundreds, and officers, that served the king according to their companies, who came in and went out every month in the year, under every chief were four and twenty thousand.
2 La première troupe, pour le premier mois, était commandée par Jesboam, fils de Zabdiel, qui avait sous lui vingt-quatre mille hommes.	2 Over the first company the first month Jesboam, the son of Zabdiel was chief, and under him were four and twenty thousand.
3 Il était de la maison de Pharès, et le premier de tous les chefs de l'armée, au premier mois.	3 Of the sons of Phares, the chief of all the captains in the host in the first month.
4 Dudia l'Ahohite commandait les troupes du second mois, et il avait sous lui Macelloth, qui commandait une partie de cette armée de vingt-quatre mille hommes.	4 The company of the second month was under Dudia, an Ahohite, and after him was another named Macelloth, who commanded a part of the army of four and twenty thousand.

6 C'est ce même Banaïas qui était très vaillant parmi les trente, et sur les trente. Son fils Amizabad commandait sous lui sa brigade.	6 This is that Banaias the most valiant among the thirty, and above the thirty. And Amizabad his son commanded his company.
7 Le quatrième chef, pour les troupes du quatrième mois, était Asahel, frère de Joab; et Zabadias, son fils, commandait après lui. Sa brigade était de vingt-quatre mille hommes.	7 The fourth, for the fourth month, was Asahel the brother of Joab, and Zabadias his son after him: and in his company were four and twenty thousand.
8 Le cinquième chef, pour le cinquième mois, était Samaoth de Jézer; et son armée était de vingt-quatre mille hommes.	8 The fifth captain for the fifth month, was Samaoth a Jezerite: and his company were four and twenty thousand.
9 Le sixième, pour le sixième mois, était Hira, fils d'Accès, de la ville de Thécua; et sa brigade était de vingt-quatre mille hommes.	9 The sixth, for the sixth month, was Hira the son of Acces a Thecuite: and in his company were four and twenty thousand.
10 Le septième pour le septième mois, était Hellès le Phallonite, de la tribu d'Ephraïm; son armée était de vingt-quatre mille hommes.	10 The seventh, for the seventh month, was Helles a Phallonite of the sons of Ephraim: and in his company were four and twenty thousand.
11 Le huitième, pour le huitième mois, était Sobochaï le Husathite, de la race de Zarahi; sa brigade était de vingt-quatre mille hommes.	11 The eighth, for the eighth month, was Sobochai a Husathite of the race of Zarahi: and in his company were four and twenty thousand.
12 Le neuvième, pour le neuvième mois, était Abiézer d'Anathoth, des fils de Jémini; sa brigade était de vingt-quatre mille hommes.	12 The ninth, for the ninth month, was Abiezer an Anathothite of the sons of Jemini, and in His company were four and twenty thousand.
13 Le dixième, pour le dixième mois, était Maraï de Nétophath, qui descendait de Zarahi; sa brigade était de vingt-quatre mille hommes.	13 The tenth, for the tenth month, was Marai, who was a Netophathite of the race of Zarai: and in his company were four and twenty thousand.
14 Le onzième, pour le onzième mois, était Banaïas de Pharathon, de la tribu d'Ephraïm; se brigade était de vingt-quatre mille hommes.	14 The eleventh, for the eleventh month, was Banaias, a Pharathonite of the sons of Ephraim: and in his company were four and twenty thousand.
15 Le douzième, pour le douzième mois, était Holdaï de Nétophath, qui descendait de Gothoniel; et sa brigade était de vingt-quatre mille hommes.	15 The twelfth, for the twelfth month, was Holdai a Netophathite, of the race of Gothoniel: and in his company were four and twenty thousand.
16 Or voici les chefs des tribus d'Israël. Dans la tribu de Ruben, Eliézer, fils de Zéchri. Dans celle de Siméon, Saphatias, fils de Maacha.	16 Now the chiefs over the tribes of Israel were these: over the Rubenites, Eliezer the son of Zechri was ruler: over the Simeonites, Saphatias the son of Maacha :
17 Dans celle de Lévi, Hasabias, fils de Camuel. Dans la branche d'Aaron, Sadoc.	17 Over the Levites, Hasabias the son of Camuel: over the Aaronites, Sadoc:
18 Dans la tribu de Juda, Eliu, frère de David. Dans celle d'Issachar, Amri, fils de Michel.	18 Over Juda, Eliu the brother of David: over Issachar, Amri the son of Michael:
19 Dans celle de Zabulon, Jesmaïas, fils d'Abdias. Dans celle de Nephthali, Jérimoth, fils d'Ozriel.	19 Over the Zabulonites, Jesmaias the son of Adias : over the Nephtalites, Jerimoth the son of Ozriel:
20 Dans celle d'Ephraïm, Osée, fils d'Ozaziu. Dans la demi-tribu de Manassé, Joël, fils de Phadaïa;	20 Over the sons of Ephraim, Osee the: son of Ozaziu: over the half tribe of Manasses, Joel the son of Phadaia:
21 et dans l'autre moitié de la tribu de Manassé en Galaad, Jaddo, fils de Zacharie. Dans la tribu de Benjamin, Jasiel, fils d'Abner.	21 And over the half tribe of Manasses: in Galaad, Jaddo the son of Zacharias: and over Benjamin, Jasiel the son of Abner.
22 Dans celle de Dan, Ezrihel, fils de Jéroham. Tels étaient les chefs des fils d'Israël.	22 And over Dan, Ezrihel the son of Jeroham: these were the princes of the children of Israel.
23 Or David ne voulut point compter ceux qui étaient au-dessous de vingt ans, parce que le Seigneur avait dit qu'Il multiplierait Israël comme les étoiles du firmament.	23 But David would not number them from twenty years old and under: because the Lord had said that he would multiply Israel like the stars of heaven.
24 Joab, fils de Sarvia, avait commencé de faire le dénombrement. Mais il ne l'acheva pas, parce que cette entreprise avait attiré la colère de Dieu sur Israël; et c'est pour cela que le nombre de ceux qu'on avait déjà comptés n'est pas écrit dans les fastes du roi David.	24 Joab the son of Sarvia began to number, but he finished not: because upon this there fell wrath upon Israel: and therefore the number of them that were numbered, was not registered in the chronicles of king David.
25 L'intendant des trésors du roi était Azmoth, fils d'Adiel; celui des trésors qui étaient dans les villes, les villages et les châteaux forts, était Jonathan, fils d'Ozias.	25 And over the king's treasures was Azmoth the son of Adiel: and over those stores which were in the cities, and is the villages, and in the castles, was Jonathan the son of Ozias.
26 Ezri, fils de Chélub, dirigeait le travail de la campagne et les laboureurs qui cultivaient la terre;	26 And over the tillage, and the husbandmen, who tilled the ground, was Ezri the son of Chelub:
27 Séméias le Romathite, ceux qui travaillaient aux vignes. Zabdias l'Aphonite était préposé aux caves et aux celliers;	27 And over the dressers of the vineyards, was Semeias a Romathite: and over the wine cellars, Zabdias an Aphonite.
28 Balanan de Géder, aux oliviers et aux figuiers de la campagne; et Joas aux magasins d'huile.	28 And over the oliveyards and the fig groves, which were in the plains, was Balanam a Gederite: and over the oil cellars, Joas.
29 Les troupeaux que l'on faisait paître à Saron étaient sous la charge de Sétraï le Saronite; et les boeufs qu'on nourrissait dans les vallées, sous celle de Saphat, fils d'Adli.	29 And over the herds that fed in Saron, was Setrai a Saronite: and over the. oxen in the valleys, Saphat the son of Adli:
30 Ubil l'Ismaélite avait la charge des chameaux; Jadias de Méronath, celle des ânes,	30 And over the camels, Ubil an Ishmahelite: and over the asses, Jadias a Meronathite:
31 et Jaziz l'Agaréen, celle des brebis. Tous ceux-là avaient l'intendance sur les biens du roi David.	31 And over the sheep Jazia an Agarene. All these were the rulers of the substance of king David.
32 Jonathan, oncle de David, homme sage et savant, était un de ses conseillers; lui et Jahiel, fils d'Hachamon, étaient près des enfants du roi.	32 And Jonathan David's uncle, a counsellor, a wise and learned man: he and Jahiel the son of Hachamoni were with the king's sons.
33 Achitophel était aussi du conseil du roi, et Chusaï l'Arachite était l'ami du roi.	33 And Achitophel was the king's counsellor, and Chusai the Arachite, the king's friend.
34 Joïada, fils de Banaïas, et Abiathar furent conseillers après Achitophel. Joab était le généralissime de l'armée du roi.	34 And after Achitophel was Joiada the son of Banaias, and Abiathar. And the general of the king's army was Joab.
