| 1 Or il arriva que Salomon ayant achevé de bâtir la maison du Seigneur, le palais du roi, et tout ce qu'il avait souhaité et voulu faire, | 1 When Solomon had finished building the Temple of Yahweh, the royal palace and everything else whichSolomon had wanted to do, |
| 2 Le Seigneur lui apparut une seconde fois, comme Il lui avait apparu à Gabaon. | 2 Yahweh appeared to Solomon a second time, as he had appeared to him at Gibeon. |
| 3 Et le Seigneur lui dit : J'ai exaucé votre prière et la supplication que vous M'avez adressée. J'ai sanctifié cette maison que vous avez bâtie, pour y mettre Mon nom à jamais; et Mes yeux et Mon coeur y seront toujours. | 3 Yahweh said to him, 'I have heard your prayer and the entreaty which you have before me. I consecratethis temple which you have built: I place my name there for ever; my eyes and my heart wil be there always. |
| 4 Et vous, si vous marchez devant Moi comme a marché votre père, dans la simplicité du coeur et la droiture, si vous faites tout ce que Je vous ai commandé, et si vous gardez Mes lois et Mes commandements, | 4 For your part, if you walk before me in innocence of heart and in honesty, like your father David, if youdo everything that I command and keep my laws and my ordinances, |
| 5 J'établirai à jamais votre trône et votre règne sur Israël, selon que Je l'ai promis à David votre père, en disant : Il y aura toujours de votre race quelque héritier assis sur le trône d'Israël. | 5 I shal make your royal throne secure over Israel for ever, as I promised your father David when I said,"You wil never lack for a man on the throne of Israel." |
| 6 Mais si vous vous détournez de Moi, vous et Vos enfants, si vous cessez de Me suivre et de garder Mes préceptes et les cérémonies que Je vous ai prescrites, et que vous alliez servir et adorer les dieux étrangers, | 6 But if you turn away from me, either you or your descendants, and instead of keeping mycommandments and laws which I have laid down for you, you go and serve other gods and worship them, |
| 7 J'enlèverai Israël de la surface de la terre que Je leur ai donnée, Je rejetterai loin de Moi ce temple que J'ai consacré à Mon nom, et Israël deviendra le proverbe et la fable de tous les peuples, | 7 then I shal banish Israel from the country which I have given them, and shall disown this Temple which Ihave consecrated for my name, and Israel will be a proverb and a byword among al peoples. |
| 8 et cette maison sera un exemple, et quiconque passera devant elle sera dans la stupeur, et sifflera, et dira : Pourquoi le Seigneur a-t-Il ainsi traité cette terre et cette maison? | 8 As for this once-exalted Temple, everyone who passes by wil be appal ed, and they wil whistle and say,"Why has Yahweh treated this country and this Temple like this?" |
| 9 Et on répondra : Parce qu'ils ont abandonné le Seigneur leur Dieu, qui avait tiré leurs pères de l'Egypte, et qu'ils ont suivi des dieux étrangers, auxquels ils ont rendu l'adoration et le culte; c'est pour cela que le Seigneur a amené sur eux tous ces maux. | 9 And the answer wil be, "Because they deserted Yahweh their God who brought their ancestors out ofEgypt, and they adopted other gods and worshipped and served them; that is why Yahweh has brought al thesedisasters on them." ' |
| 10 Vingt ans s'étant passés, pendant lesquels Salomon bâtit les deux maisons, c'est-à-dire la maison du Seigneur et la maison du roi, | 10 At the end of the twenty years that it took Solomon to erect the two buildings, the Temple of Yahwehand the royal palace |
| 11 Hiram, roi de Tyr, lui fournissant tous les bois de cèdre et de sapin, et l'or selon le besoin qu'il en avait, Salomon donna à Hiram vingt villes dans le pays de Galilée. | 11 (Hiram king of Tyre had provided Solomon with al the cedar wood, juniper wood and gold that hewanted), King Solomon gave Hiram twenty towns in the territory of Galilee. |
| 12 Et Hiram vint de Tyr pour voir ces villes que Salomon lui avait données, mais elles ne lui plurent pas; | 12 But when Hiram came from Tyre to view the towns that Solomon had given him, he was not pleasedwith them. |
| 13 et il dit : Sont-ce là, mon frère, les villes que vous m'avez données? Et il appela cette contrée la Terre de Chabul, comme elle s'appelle encore aujourd'hui. | 13 He said, 'What kind of towns are these you have given me, brother?' And to this day they are known as'cabul-land'. |
| 14 Hiram envoya aussi au roi Salomon cent vingt talents d'or. | 14 Hiram sent the king one hundred and twenty talents of gold. |
