| 3 Celui qui mange ne doit pas mépriser l’autre, et celui qui ne mange pas ne doit pas le critiquer: le Seigneur l’a accepté comme il est. | 3 Let not him who eats despise him who abstains, and let not him who abstains pass judgment on him who eats; for God has welcomed him. |

| 13 Cessons de nous examiner mutuellement. Examinons plutôt comment ne pas donner à nos frères des occasions de chute ou de scandale. | 13 Then let us no more pass judgment on one another, but rather decide never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of a brother. |

Do not let what you eat cause the ruin of one for whom Christ died. |

| 17 Vous savez que le Royaume de Dieu n’est pas une affaire d’aliments et de boissons, mais de vie droite, de paix et de joie dans l’Esprit Saint. | 17 For the kingdom of God is not food and drink but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit; |
| 18 Si vous servez le Christ de cette façon-là, vous serez agréables à Dieu et les gens vous apprécieront. | 18 he who thus serves Christ is acceptable to God and approved by men. |
| 19 Travaillez donc pour la paix et pour ce qui nous aide à grandir ensemble. | 19 Let us then pursue what makes for peace and for mutual upbuilding. |
| 20 Ne défaisons pas le travail de Dieu pour une affaire de nourriture, car même si tout aliment est pur, il devient impur pour celui qui agit contre sa conscience. | 20 Do not, for the sake of food, destroy the work of God. Everything is indeed clean, but it is wrong for any one to make others fall by what he eats; |

| 22 Garde ta conviction pour toi-même devant Dieu: heureux celui qui use de tout d’accord avec sa conscience! | 22 The faith that you have, keep between yourself and God; happy is he who has no reason to judge himself for what he approves. |
| 23 Mais si quelqu’un mange quand sa conscience proteste, sa propre conviction le condamne; tout ce qu’on fait contre sa conviction est péché. | 23 But he who has doubts is condemned, if he eats, because he does not act from faith; for whatever does not proceed from faith is sin. |
