1 Une fois apaisé le tumulte, Paul fit appeler les disciples pour les encourager. Il leur fit ses adieux et partit pour la Macédoine.	1 After the uproar ceased, Paul sent for the disciples and having exhorted them took leave of them and departed for Macedonia.
2 Il parcourut cette région, multipliant ses entretiens avec les disciples, et parvint en Grèce.	2 When he had gone through these parts and had given them much encouragement, he came to Greece.
3 Il y resta trois mois, après quoi il pensa rentrer en Syrie par le bateau. Mais l’Esprit lui fit savoir que les Juifs préparaient quelque chose contre lui, aussi décida-t-il de rentrer par la Macédoine.	3 There he spent three months, and when a plot was made against him by the Jews as he was about to set sail for Syria, he determined to return through Macedonia.
4 Puis vint le moment de quitter la province d’Asie; plusieurs l’accompagnaient: Sopatros fils de Pyrros, de Bérée; Aristarque et Secondus, deux Thessaloniciens; Gaïus de Derbé, avec Timothée; Tychique et Trophime qui étaient venus d’Asie avec lui.	4 Sopater of Beroea, the son of Pyrrhus, accompanied him; and of the Thessalonians, Aristarchus and Secundus; and Gaius of Derbe, and Timothy; and the Asians, Tychicus and Trophimus.
5 Ils partirent en avant: ils devaient nous attendre à Troas.	5 These went on and were waiting for us at Troas,
6 Et puis nous sommes partis de Philippes par le bateau après les jours de la Pâque, et nous les avons rejoints à Troas au bout de cinq jours. Nous y sommes restés sept jours.	6 but we sailed away from Philippi after the days of Unleavened Bread, and in five days we came to them at Troas, where we stayed for seven days.
7 Le lendemain du sabbat, nous nous sommes réunis pour la fraction du pain et Paul a commencé à converser avec eux. Comme il devait partir le lendemain, il a continué de parler jusque vers minuit.	7 On the first day of the week, when we were gathered together to break bread, Paul talked with them, intending to depart on the morrow; and he prolonged his speech until midnight.
8 Il y avait pas mal de lampes qui brûlaient à l’étage, là où nous étions réunis.	8 There were many lights in the upper chamber where we were gathered.
9 Un jeune qui s’appelait Eutykos s’est assis sur la fenêtre, et comme Paul n’en finissait pas de parler, il n’a pas résisté au sommeil. Il s’est si bien endormi qu’il est tombé du second étage et on l’a ramassé mort.	9 And a young man named Eutychus was sitting in the window. He sank into a deep sleep as Paul talked still longer; and being overcome by sleep, he fell down from the third story and was taken up dead.
10 Alors Paul est descendu, il s’est penché sur lui et l’a pris dans ses bras; ensuite il a dit: "Ne vous affolez pas, son âme est en lui.”	10 But Paul went down and bent over him, and embracing him said, "Do not be alarmed, for his life is in him."
11 Paul est remonté, il a fait la fraction du pain et il a mangé. Et puis il a recommencé à parler longuement jusqu’au point du jour, après quoi il est parti.	11 And when Paul had gone up and had broken bread and eaten, he conversed with them a long while, until daybreak, and so departed.
12 De fait on a ramené le garçon vivant, ce qui a bien réconforté tout le monde.	12 And they took the lad away alive, and were not a little comforted.
13 Nous sommes partis en bateau pour Assos; nous devions y arriver avant Paul, car il avait décidé de faire le voyage à pied, et c’est là que nous devions le reprendre.	13 But going ahead to the ship, we set sail for Assos, intending to take Paul aboard there; for so he had arranged, intending himself to go by land.
14 Il nous a bien retrouvés à Assos, nous l’avons emmené et sommes partis pour Mitylène.	14 And when he met us at Assos, we took him on board and came to Mitylene.
15 Nous en sommes repartis à la voile et le lendemain nous passions face à l’île de Chios; le lendemain nous avons touché Samos et le jour suivant nous sommes arrivés à Milet.	15 And sailing from there we came the following day opposite Chios; the next day we touched at Samos; and the day after that we came to Miletus.
16 Paul avait décidé de ne pas faire escale à Éphèse et de ne pas s’attarder en Asie, car il faisait tout pour être à Jérusalem pour la fête de la Pentecôte.	16 For Paul had decided to sail past Ephesus, so that he might not have to spend time in Asia; for he was hastening to be at Jerusalem, if possible, on the day of Pentecost.
17 C’est donc de Milet que Paul a envoyé un courrier à Éphèse pour convoquer les Anciens de l’Église.	17 And from Miletus he sent to Ephesus and called to him the elders of the church.
18 Lorsqu’ils sont arrivés, il leur a dit: "Vous avez été témoins de ma façon d’agir tout le temps que j’ai passé avec vous, depuis le premier jour où j’ai débarqué en Asie.	18 And when they came to him, he said to them: "You yourselves know how I lived among you all the time from the first day that I set foot in Asia,
19 J’ai servi le Seigneur sans me faire valoir, au milieu des larmes et des épreuves que m’ont attirées les complots des Juifs.	19 serving the Lord with all humility and with tears and with trials which befell me through the plots of the Jews;
20 Vous savez que je n’ai reculé devant rien lorsque quelque chose pouvait vous être utile. J’ai prêché et enseigné en public et dans les maisons,	20 how I did not shrink from declaring to you anything that was profitable, and teaching you in public and from house to house,
21 insistant auprès des Juifs comme des Grecs sur la conversion à Dieu et la foi en Jésus notre Seigneur.	21 testifying both to Jews and to Greeks of repentance to God and of faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.
22 “Maintenant je pars à Jérusalem, enchaîné par l’Esprit. Je ne sais pas ce qui m’arrivera là-bas,	22 And now, behold, I am going to Jerusalem, bound in the Spirit, not knowing what shall befall me there;
23 bien que dans chaque ville l’Esprit Saint me réaffirme que la prison et les épreuves m’attendent.	23 except that the Holy Spirit testifies to me in every city that imprisonment and afflictions await me.
24 Mais ma vie ne compte pas pour moi si je peux courir jusqu’au bout et mener à bien la mission que le Seigneur Jésus m’a confiée: annoncer la Bonne Nouvelle de la grâce de Dieu.	24 But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may accomplish my course and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.
25 “Et maintenant je sais que vous ne reverrez plus mon visage, vous tous parmi lesquels je suis venu prêcher le Royaume.	25 And now, behold, I know that all you among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom will see my face no more.
26 C’est pourquoi aujourd’hui je veux dire bien haut que je ne suis pas responsable de ce qui peut vous arriver,	26 Therefore I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all of you,
27 puisque je n’ai rien négligé pour vous annoncer toute la volonté de Dieu.	27 for I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole counsel of God.
28 Mais veillez sur vous-mêmes et sur tout le troupeau à la tête duquel l’Esprit Saint vous a placés: vous êtes gardiens pour prendre soin de cette Église du Seigneur qu’il s’est acquise par son propre sang.	28 Take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of the LORD which he obtained with the blood of his own.
29 “Je sais qu’après mon départ des loups rapaces viendront chez vous et mettront à mal le troupeau.	29 I know that after my departure fierce wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock;
30 Certains d’entre vous se mettront à enseigner une doctrine falsifiée, dans le seul but de détacher les disciples pour qu’ils les suivent.	30 and from among your own selves will arise men speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after them.
31 Restez donc en éveil. Rappelez-vous que durant trois ans, de jour et de nuit, je n’ai pas cessé de reprendre chacun de vous dans les larmes.	31 Therefore be alert, remembering that for three years I did not cease night or day to admonish every one with tears.
32 “Maintenant je vous confie à Dieu et à la parole porteuse de sa grâce: elle est capable de construire vos personnes et de vous assurer l’héritage, avec tous ceux qui ont été sanctifiés.	32 And now I commend you to God and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified.
33 “Je n’ai attendu de personne argent, or ou vêtements.	33 I coveted no one's silver or gold or apparel.
34 Voyez mes mains: vous savez qu’elles m’ont assuré le nécessaire pour moi et pour ceux qui étaient avec moi.	34 You yourselves know that these hands ministered to my necessities, and to those who were with me.
35 Je vous ai ainsi montré clairement comment vous donner du mal pour aider ceux qui sont en difficulté; rappelez-vous les paroles du Seigneur Jésus, qui a dit: ‘C’est une chance de donner, plus que de recevoir’. ”	35 In all things I have shown you that by so toiling one must help the weak, remembering the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'"
36 Lorsque Paul a eu terminé, il s’est mis à genoux avec tous pour prier.	36 And when he had spoken thus, he knelt down and prayed with them all.
37 Tous pleuraient et se jetaient à son cou pour l’embrasser;	37 And they all wept and embraced Paul and kissed him,
38 ils étaient très peinés de ce qu’il avait dit, qu’ils ne le reverraient pas. Ensuite ils l’ont conduit au bateau.	38 sorrowing most of all because of the word he had spoken, that they should see his face no more. And they brought him to the ship.
