| 2 “Consulte Yahvé pour nous à propos de la guerre que nous fait Nabukodonozor, roi de Babylone. Peut-être Yahvé fera-t-il encore pour nous un de ses miracles pour l’éloigner de nous.” | 2 "Inquire of the LORD for us, for Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon is making war against us; perhaps the LORD will deal with us according to all his wonderful deeds, and will make him withdraw from us." |
| 3 Jérémie leur répondit: “Voici ce que vous direz à Sédécias: | 3 Then Jeremiah said to them: |
| 4 Ainsi parle Yahvé: Je ramènerai en arrière les armes de guerre avec lesquelles vous combattez les Kaldéens qui assiègent vos remparts, et elles resteront empilées au milieu de cette ville. | 4 "Thus you shall say to Zedekiah, 'Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel: Behold, I will turn back the weapons of war which are in your hands and with which you are fighting against the king of Babylon and against the Chaldeans who are besieging you outside the walls; and I will bring them together into the midst of this city. |
| 5 Moi-même je combattrai contre vous, de toute la puissance de ma main et de mon bras, avec la violence de ma colère et de ma fureur. | 5 I myself will fight against you with outstretched hand and strong arm, in anger, and in fury, and in great wrath. |
| 6 Je frapperai dans cette ville les hommes et les bêtes; ils mourront d’une terrible peste. | 6 And I will smite the inhabitants of this city, both man and beast; they shall die of a great pestilence. |
| 7 “Après cela - parole de Yahvé - je livrerai Sédécias, roi de Juda, à Nabukodonozor, roi de Babylone, avec ses serviteurs, le peuple et tous ceux qui dans cette ville auront échappé à la peste, à l’épée et à la famine. Je les livrerai aux mains de leurs ennemis qui en veulent à leur vie. Lui sera pour eux sans égards, sans pitié, sans pardon: il les passera au fil de l’épée.” | 7 Afterward, says the LORD, I will give Zedekiah king of Judah, and his servants, and the people in this city who survive the pestilence, sword, and famine, into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon and into the hand of their enemies, into the hand of those who seek their lives. He shall smite them with the edge of the sword; he shall not pity them, or spare them, or have compassion.' |

| 9 Celui qui restera dans cette ville périra par l’épée, la famine et la peste; celui qui en sortira pour se rendre aux Kaldéens qui vous assiègent, vivra; il aura au moins sauvé sa vie. | 9 He who stays in this city shall die by the sword, by famine, and by pestilence; but he who goes out and surrenders to the Chaldeans who are besieging you shall live and shall have his life as a prize of war. |
| 10 Car je me suis penché sur cette ville pour son malheur et non pour son bonheur - parole de Yahvé. | 13 Je viens te visiter, toi qui domines la vallée comme un rocher dans la plaine - parole de Yahvé. Vous dites: “Qui fera une descente chez nous, qui entrera dans nos repaires?” | 13 "Behold, I am against you, O inhabitant of the valley, O rock of the plain, says the LORD; you who say, 'Who shall come down against us, or who shall enter our habitations?' |
| 14 Je viens vous réclamer des comptes - parole de Yahvé. Je mettrai le feu à la forêt, et il dévorera tout ce qui est autour. | 14 I will punish you according to the fruit of your doings, says the LORD; I will kindle a fire in her forest, and it shall devour all that is round about her." |
