| 1 Yahvé dit à Moïse: | 1 And the LORD said to Moses, |
| 2 “Voici ce que tu diras à Aaron, à ses fils et à tous les Israélites. Écoutez ce que Yahvé a ordonné: | 2 "Say to Aaron and his sons, and to all the people of Israel, This is the thing which the LORD has commanded. |
| 3 Tout homme du peuple d’Israël qui égorge un bœuf, une brebis ou une chèvre, soit dans le camp, soit en dehors du camp, | 3 If any man of the house of Israel kills an ox or a lamb or a goat in the camp, or kills it outside the camp, |
| 4 sans le conduire à l’entrée de la Tente du Rendez-Vous pour l’offrir à Yahvé devant la demeure de Yahvé, sera coupable de ce sang. Cet homme sera retranché du milieu de son peuple car il a répandu le sang. | 4 and does not bring it to the door of the tent of meeting, to offer it as a gift to the LORD before the tabernacle of the LORD, bloodguilt shall be imputed to that man; he has shed blood; and that man shall be cut off from among his people. |
| 5 Les Israélites n’offriront pas de sacrifices dans la campagne mais ils les amèneront à Yahvé à l’entrée de la Tente du Rendez-Vous, au prêtre. Et c’est là qu’ils les offriront en sacrifice de communion à Yahvé. | 5 This is to the end that the people of Israel may bring their sacrifices which they slay in the open field, that they may bring them to the LORD, to the priest at the door of the tent of meeting, and slay them as sacrifices of peace offerings to the LORD; |
| 6 Le prêtre versera le sang sur l’autel de Yahvé, devant la Tente du Rendez-Vous, et il fera fumer la graisse en odeur agréable à Yahvé. | 6 and the priest shall sprinkle the blood on the altar of the LORD at the door of the tent of meeting, and burn the fat for a pleasing odor to the LORD. |
| 7 Ainsi ils n’offriront plus de sacrifices aux idoles à tête de bouc avec lesquelles ils se prostituaient. Ceci est un ordre pour eux de génération en génération. | 7 So they shall no more slay their sacrifices for satyrs, after whom they play the harlot. This shall be a statute for ever to them throughout their generations. |
| 8 Tu leur diras encore: tout homme du peuple d’Israël, comme tout étranger habitant au milieu de vous qui offrira un holocauste ou un sacrifice | 8 "And you shall say to them, Any man of the house of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn among them, who offers a burnt offering or sacrifice, |
| 9 sans le conduire à l’entrée de la Tente du Rendez-Vous pour le présenter à Yahvé, sera retranché de sa famille. | 9 and does not bring it to the door of the tent of meeting, to sacrifice it to the LORD; that man shall be cut off from his people. |
| 10 Pour ce qui est de manger du sang, il n’y aura pas de différence entre les gens du peuple d’Israël et les étrangers habitant au milieu de vous: je retrancherai du milieu de son peuple celui qui aura mangé le sang. | 10 "If any man of the house of Israel or of the strangers that sojourn among them eats any blood, I will set my face against that person who eats blood, and will cut him off from among his people. |
| 11 Car l’âme de tout être vivant est dans le sang et moi je vous l’ai donné pour que vous le portiez sur l’autel pour le rite de l’expiation; c’est le sang qui paye la dette de l’âme, de la personne. | 11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood; and I have given it for you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement, by reason of the life. |
| 12 C’est pour cela que j’ai dit aux Israélites: personne parmi vous ne mangera de sang et aucun étranger habitant au milieu de vous ne mangera de sang. | 12 Therefore I have said to the people of Israel, No person among you shall eat blood, neither shall any stranger who sojourns among you eat blood. |
| 13 Tout homme du peuple d’Israël, comme tout étranger habitant au milieu de vous, qui aura chassé du gibier, bête ou oiseau qui se mangent, devra en verser le sang et le recouvrir de terre. | 13 Any man also of the people of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn among them, who takes in hunting any beast or bird that may be eaten shall pour out its blood and cover it with dust. |
| 14 En effet, l’âme de tout être vivant est son sang, c’est pourquoi j’ai dit aux Israélites: vous ne mangerez du sang d’aucun être vivant, car l’âme de tout être vivant est son sang. Ceux qui en mangeront seront retranchés. | 14 "For the life of every creature is the blood of it; therefore I have said to the people of Israel, You shall not eat the blood of any creature, for the life of every creature is its blood; whoever eats it shall be cut off. |
| 15 Si quelqu’un né dans le pays, si un étranger vivant au milieu de vous, a mangé d’une bête morte ou d’une bête déchirée, il lavera ses vêtements et se baignera dans l’eau; il sera impur jusqu’au soir, et alors il sera pur. | 15 And every person that eats what dies of itself or what is torn by beasts, whether he is a native or a sojourner, shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the evening; then he shall be clean. |
| 16 Mais s’il ne lave pas ses vêtements et ne se baigne pas dans l’eau, il portera sa faute.” | 16 But if he does not wash them or bathe his flesh, he shall bear his iniquity." |
