1 5:3 J’ai vu l’insensé bien enraciné, et tout d’un coup sa demeure s’est écroulée.	1 Make your appeal then. Wil you find an answer? To which of the holy ones wil you turn?
2 5:4 Ses enfants ne trouvaient plus qui les aide, qui les défende en haut lieu face aux attaques.	2 Resentment kil s the senseless, and anger brings death to the fool.
3 5:5 Des affamés pillaient leur récolte et l’emportaient dans leurs cachettes; d’autres avaient soif de leurs biens.	3 I have seen the senseless taking root, when a curse fel suddenly on his house.
4 5:6 Non, le désordre ne sort pas de la terre, le malheur ne germe pas du sol.	4 His children are deprived of prop and stay, ruined at the gate, and no one to defend them;
5 5:7 Mais si l’homme est né pour mal faire, c’est alors que les flammes s’élèvent.	5 their harvest goes to feed the hungry, God snatches it from their mouths, and covetous people thirst fortheir possessions.
6 5:2 L’insensé est victime de ses délires, c’est leur propre violence qui tue les têtes folles.	6 No, misery does not grow out of the soil, nor sorrow spring from the ground.
7 5:1 Tu voudrais appeler? Mais qui te répondra? Vers lequel des Saints te tourneras-tu?	7 It is people who breed trouble for themselves as surely as eagles fly to the height.
8 À ta place, j’irais droit à Dieu: c’est à lui que j’exposerais ma cause,	8 If I were you, I should appeal to God and lay my case before him.
9 car ses œuvres dépassent ce qu’on peut comprendre, il fait des miracles sans nombre.	9 His works are great, past al reckoning, marvels beyond al counting.
10 Il déverse la pluie sur la terre pour irriguer la surface des champs.	10 He sends down rain to the earth, pours down water on the fields.
11 Il élève ceux qui étaient bas, et rend la joie aux affligés.	11 If his wil is to raise up the downcast, or exalt the afflicted to the heights of prosperity,
12 Il déjoue les manœuvres des astucieux, et quoi qu’ils fassent, ils ne peuvent s’en remettre.	12 he frustrates the plans of the artful so that they cannot succeed in their intrigues.
13 Il prend au piège les sages dans leur astuce, et réduit à rien les projets des intrigants.	13 He traps the crafty in the snare of their own trickery, throws the plans of the cunning into disarray.
14 En plein jour les ténèbres les assaillent, ils tâtonnent à midi comme dans la nuit.	14 In daylight they come up against darkness, and grope their way as if noon were night.
15 Mais Dieu sauve de leur gueule les opprimés, il arrache le faible à la main du violent.	15 He rescues the bankrupt from their jaws, and the needy from the grasp of the mighty.
16 Le pauvre alors reprend espoir: l’injustice? On lui a fermé la bouche.	16 Hope springs afresh for the weak, and wickedness must shut its mouth.
17 Heureux l’homme que Dieu corrige! ne méprise pas la leçon du Tout-Puissant.	17 Blessed are those whom God corrects! Do not then scorn the lesson of Shaddai!
18 Après avoir blessé il soigne la plaie, après avoir meurtri, ses mains guérissent.	18 For he who wounds is he who soothes the sore, and the hand that hurts is the hand that heals.
19 Par six fois il te sauve de la détresse, une septième encore? le mal ne t’atteint pas.	19 Six times he wil deliver you from sorrow, and the seventh time, evil wil not touch you.
20 Que vienne la famine, il t’arrache à la mort; au combat, il te préservera de l’épée.	20 In time of famine, he wil save you from death, and in wartime from the stroke of the sword.
21 Tu échapperas aux coups de la langue, tu n’auras pas à craindre l’assaut du pillard.	21 You will be safe from the lash of the tongue, unafraid at the approach of the despoiler.
22 Les agressions, la pénurie, tu en riras, les bêtes féroces, tu n’en auras pas peur.	22 You will laugh at drought and frost, and have no fear of the beasts of the earth.
23 Plus de pierres dans tes champs: la terre te servira, les bêtes nuisibles feront la paix avec toi.	23 You will have a pact with the stones of the field, and live in amity with wild beasts.
24 Tu sauras que tout prospère en ta tente, visitant tes terres, tu n’y verras nul dommage.	24 You will know that your tent is secure, and your sheepfold unharmed when you inspect it.
25 Sous tes yeux ta race se multipliera, tes rejetons pousseront comme l’herbe des champs.	25 You will see your descendants multiply, your offspring grow like the grass in the fields.
26 Tu iras à la tombe quand tu seras mûr, comme une gerbe qu’on ramasse en son temps.	26 At a ripe age you wil go to the grave, like a wheatsheaf stacked in due season.
27 Tout cela, nous l’avons observé: c’est vrai! nous en sommes témoins, sache-le toi aussi.	27 Al this we have observed and it is so! Heed it, you wil be the wiser for it!
