| 2 Il fit ce qui est juste au regard de Yahvé tout comme l’avait fait son père Ozias, et lui n’entra pas dans la Maison de Yahvé; le peuple cependant continuait de faire le mal. | 2 And he did what was right in the eyes of the LORD according to all that his father Uzziah had done--only he did not invade the temple of the LORD. But the people still followed corrupt practices. |
| 3 Il construisit la Porte Haute de la Maison de Yahvé et fit de nombreuses réparations au mur de l’Ophel. | 3 He built the upper gate of the house of the LORD, and did much building on the wall of Ophel. |
| 4 Il construisit des villes dans la montagne de Juda, des forteresses et des tours dans les régions boisées. | 4 Moreover he built cities in the hill country of Judah, and forts and towers on the wooded hills. |
| 5 Il fit la guerre au roi des Ammonites et l’emporta sur lui. Les Ammonites lui donnèrent cette année-là 100 talents d’argent, 10 000 mesures de blé et 10 000 d’orge; les Ammonites lui en remirent encore autant la seconde et la troisième année. | 5 He fought with the king of the Ammonites and prevailed against them. And the Ammonites gave him that year a hundred talents of silver, and ten thousand cors of wheat and ten thousand of barley. The Ammonites paid him the same amount in the second and the third years. |
| 6 Yotam devint puissant car il prenait ses décisions sous le regard de Yahvé son Dieu. | 6 So Jotham became mighty, because he ordered his ways before the LORD his God. |
