1 Lo carico del mare deserto. Sì come la turbazione del tempo viene per lo vento affricano, del deserto viene, di terra orribile.	1 The burden of the desert of the sea. Just as the whirlwinds approach from Africa, it approaches from the desert, from a terrible land.
2 Una visione dura è annunciata a me: quello che non crede vive senza fede, e chi è depopulatore guasta. Sali a Elam (cioè a quella terra), e assedia Mede: io hoe fatto cessare tutto lo suo pianto.	2 A difficult vision has been announced to me: he who is unbelieving, he acts unfaithfully, and he who is a plunderer, he devastates. Ascend, O Elam! Lay siege, O Media! I have caused all its mourning to cease.
3 Però li miei lombi sono pieni di dolore; l'angoscia possiede me, sì come l'angoscia del [la] parturiente; io mi spaventai quando udio, e sono turbato quando vidi.	3 Because of this, my lower back has been filled with pain, and anguish has possessed me, like the anguish of a woman in labor. I fell down when I heard it. I was disturbed when I saw it.
4 Lo mio cuore venne meno, e le tenebre mi feciono stupefatto; la Babilonia, mia amanza, si è posta a me in miracolo.	4 My heart withered. The darkness stupefied me. Babylon, my beloved, has become a wonder to me.
5 Poni la mensa, e contempla (e ragguarda); voi, mangianti e bibenti, levatevi suso; principi, pigliate lo scudo.	5 Prepare the table. Contemplate, from a place of observation, those who eat and drink. Rise up, you leaders! Take up the shield!
6 E questo disse Iddio a me: va e poni lo ragguardatore; e chiunque vede, di' che l'annunzii.	6 For the Lord has said this to me: “Go and station a watchman. And let him announce whatever he will see.”
7 E vide uno carro di due cavalieri (a cavallo); l'uno era suso uno asino, l'altro in su uno cammello; e contemplò diligentemente con molto ragguardamento.	7 And he saw a chariot with two horsemen, and a rider on an donkey, and a rider on a camel. And he considered them diligently, with an intense gaze.
8 E lo leone gridò: io sto sopra la guardia del Signore continuamente per lo dì; e sopra la mia guardia io sto tutte le notti.	8 And a lion cried out: “I am on the watchtower of the Lord, standing continually by day. And I am at my station, standing throughout the night.
9 Ed ecco questo viene, come uno uomo che sta in su uno carro, e rispose e disse: cadde cadde Babilonia, e tutti li intagli de' suoi iddiï sono spezzati in terra.	9 Behold, a certain man approaches, a man riding on a two-horse chariot.” And he responded, and he said: “Fallen, fallen is Babylon! And all its graven gods have been crushed into the earth!
10 La mia tritura, e la mia figliuola del mio altare, io annunciarò a voi tutte le cose che io udi' dal Signore delli esèrciti.	10 O my threshed grain! O sons of my threshing floor! What I have heard from the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, I have announced to you.”
11 Lo carico di Duma grida a me delle contrade di Seir: o guardia, che venne di notte? o guardia, perchè di notte?	11 The burden of Dumah, cried out to me from Seir: “Watchman, how goes the night? Watchman, how goes the night?”
12 E la guardia disse: egli è venuto lo mattutino e la notte; se voi addomandate, addomandate; convertitevi, e venite.	12 The watchman said: “Morning approaches with the night. If you are seeking: seek, and convert, and approach.”
13 Lo carico in Arabia. Voi dormirete la sera nel bosco, nelle vie di Dedanim.	13 The burden in Arabia. In the forest you shall sleep, in the evening on the paths of Dedanim.
14 E vegnenti voi contro allo sizient?, dateli acqua, voi i quali abitate alla terra di austro; venite incontro al fuggente col pane.	14 You who inhabit the land of the south: upon meeting the thirsty, bring water; meet the fugitive with bread.
15 Loro fuggirono dalla faccia delli coltelli, dalla faccia del coltello soprastante, dalla. faccia dell' arco disteso, dalla faccia della grave battaglia.	15 For they are fleeing before the face of swords, before the face of a sword hanging over them, before the face of a bent bow, before the face of a grievous battle.
16 Però che questo dice lo Signore a me: ancora in uno anno, quasi come nell' anno di colui che aspetta la mercede, sarà tolta ogni gloria di Cedar (cioè di quella terra).	16 For the Lord said this to me: “After one more year, just like one year for a hired hand, all the glory of Kedar will be taken away.
17 E lo rimanente de' saettatori forti de' figliuoli di Cedar sarà minuito; però che lo Signore Iddio d'Israel hae parlato.	17 And the remainder of the multitude of strong archers from the sons of Kedar will be few, for the Lord, the God of Israel, has spoken it.”
