| 1 Guai alla terra, nel cimbalo dell' ale, la qual è di là dal fiume di Etiopia, | 1 Ah, land of whirring wings which is beyond the rivers of Ethiopia; |
| 2 lo quale mette nel mare quelli che sono mandati per nuncii, in vasi di (carta di bambagina, cioè con lettere sigillate poste in bussole di carte, ovver in navi fatte di uno legno chiamato) papiro (lo quale cresce in quelli luoghi molto grande) sopra l'acque. Andate voi, angeli veloci, alla gente scacciata e lacerata; al popolo terribile, dopo il quale non è altro; alla gente aspettante e conculcata, della quale li fiumi rubarono la terra sua (al monte del nome di Dio, monte di Sion). | 2 which sends ambassadors by the Nile, in vessels of papyrus upon the waters! Go, you swift messengers, to a nation, tall and smooth, to a people feared near and far, a nation mighty and conquering, whose land the rivers divide. |
| 3 Tutti voi abitatori della terra, i quali state nella terra, quando sarà levato lo segno nelli monti, vederete; e udirete lo suono della tromba. | 3 All you inhabitants of the world, you who dwell on the earth, when a signal is raised on the mountains, look! When a trumpet is blown, hear! |
| 4 Però che questo dice il Signore a me: io starò cheto, e considererò nello luogo mio, come è chiara la luce meridiana, e come la nuvola della rugiada nel dì della ricolta. | 4 For thus the LORD said to me: "I will quietly look from my dwelling like clear heat in sunshine, like a cloud of dew in the heat of harvest." |
| 5 E fiorì tutto inanzi alla ricolta, e germinerà immatura perfezione, e li suoi ramicelli saranno tagliati inanzi alle falci; e quelli che saranno lasciati, saranno tagliati e isbattuti. | 5 For before the harvest, when the blossom is over, and the flower becomes a ripening grape, he will cut off the shoots with pruning hooks, and the spreading branches he will hew away. |
| 6 E [saranno] lasciati insieme alli uccelli dei monti e alle bestie della terra; tutta la està saranno sopra lui li uccelli, e tutto il verno le bestie della terra. | 6 They shall all of them be left to the birds of prey of the mountains and to the beasts of the earth. | 7 In quello tempo sarà recato lo dono allo Signore delli eserciti dal popolo cacciato e lacerato, dal popolo terribile, dopo lo quale non fu altro, dalla gente aspettante, aspettante e conculcata, la cui terra li fiumi l'hanno distrutta, al luogo del nome del Signore delli eserciti, nel monte di Sion. | 7 At that time gifts will be brought to the LORD of hosts from a people tall and smooth, from a people feared near and far, a nation mighty and conquering, whose land the rivers divide, to Mount Zion, the place of the name of the LORD of hosts. |
