| 1 Ecco le genti che il Signore lasciò allo scopo d'istruire per mezzo di esse Israele e tutti quelli che non avevan conosciute le guerre dei Cananei, | 1 Now these are the nations which the LORD left, to test Israel by them, that is, all in Israel who had no experience of any war in Canaan; |
| 2 perchè poi i loro figli imparassero a combattere coi nemici e fossero abituati alla guerra: | 2 it was only that the generations of the people of Israel might know war, that he might teach war to such at least as had not known it before. |

| 22 con tanta forza che la guardia, penetrata dietro alla lama nella ferita, rimase coperta dalla spropositata pinguedine. | 30 Cosi in quel giorno Moab fu umiliato sotto la mano d'Israele e il paese ebbe riposo per ottant'anni. | 30 So Moab was subdued that day under the hand of Israel. And the land had rest for eighty years. |
| 31 Dopo Aod ci fu Samgar, figlio di Anat, il quale uccise seicento Filistei con un vomere: anche lui difese Israele. | 31 After him was Shamgar the son of Anath, who killed six hundred of the Philistines with an oxgoad; and he too delivered Israel. |
