1 Questa è la parte toccata in sorte alla tribù di Manasse, primogenito di Giuseppe: a Machir, primogenito di Manasse e padre di Galaad, che fu uomo guerriero e possedè il paese di Galaad e dì Basan;	1 Now as for the lot that fell to the tribe of Manasseh as the first-born of Joseph: since his eldest son, Machir, the father of Gilead, was a warrior, who had already obtained Gilead and Bashan,
2 al resto dei figli di Manasse, secondo le loro famiglie, ai figli di Abiezer, ai figli di Elee, ai figli di Esriel, ai figli di Sechem, ai figli di Efer, ai figli di Semida: questi sono i figli maschi di Manasse, figlio di Giuseppe, divisi se condo le loro parentele.	2 the allotment was now made to the other descendants of Manasseh, the clans of Abiezer, Helek, Asriel, Shechem, Hepher and Shemida, the other male children of Manasseh, son of Joseph.

4 Or esse si presentarono dinanzi al sacerdote Eleazaro, a Giosuè figlio di Nun e ai principi, e dissero: « Il Signore ordinò per mezzo di Mosè che ci fosse dato un possesso in mezzo ai nostri fratelli ». E secondo il comando del Signore fu dato loro un possesso in mezzo ai fratelli del padre loro.	4 These presented themselves to Eleazar the priest, to Joshua, son of Nun, and to the princes, saying, "The LORD commanded Moses to give us a heritage among our kinsmen." So in obedience to the command of the LORD a heritage was given to each of them among their father's kinsmen.
5 A Manasse, oltre la terra di Galaad e di Basan al di là del Giordano, toccarono dieci parti;	5 Thus ten shares fell to Manasseh apart from the land of Gilead and Bashan beyond the Jordan,
6 perchè le figlie di Manasse ebbero eredità in mezzo ai di lui figli. La terra di Galaad toccò in sorte agli altri figli di Manasse.	6 since these female descendants of Manasseh received each a portion among his sons. The land of Gilead fell to the rest of the Manassehites.
7 E il confine di Manasse fu da Aser fino a Macmetat, che guarda Sichem; si e stende a destra presso gli abitanti del fonte di Tafua;	7 Manasseh bordered on Asher. From Michmethath near Shechem, another boundary ran southward to include the natives of En-Tappuah,
8 il territorio di Tafua era toccato in sorte a Manasse, ma, essendone ai confini, appartiene ai figli d'Efraim.	8 because the district of Tappuah belonged to Manasseh, although Tappuah itself was an Ephraimite city on the border of Manasseh.
9 Poi il confine scende alla valle del canneto, a mezzogiorno del torrente delle città di Efraim, che sono in mezzo alle città di Manasse: il confine di Manasse dalla parte settentrionale del torrente e va a finire al mare;	9 This same boundary continued down to the Wadi Kanah. The cities that belonged to Ephraim from among the cities in Manasseh were those to the south of that wadi; thus the territory of Manasseh ran north of the wadi and ended at the sea.
10 cosicchè il territorio di Efraim è a Sud, quello di Manasse a Nord, e l'uno e l'altro son chiusi dal mare e si con giungono a settentrione colla tribù di Aser, a levante colla tribù d'Issacar.	10 The land on the south belonged to Ephraim and that on the north to Manasseh; with the sea as their common boundary, they reached Asher on the north and Issachar on the east.
11 E Manasse ebbe per eredità in Issacar e in Aser, Betsan coi suoi villaggi, Ieblam coi suoi villaggi, gli abitanti di Dor coi loro borghi, gli abitanti di Endor coi loro borghi, gli abitanti di Tenac coi loro borghi, gli abitanti di Mageddo coi loro borghi, e la terza (parte della città di Nofet.	11 Moreover, in Issachar and in Asher Manasseh was awarded Beth-shean and its towns, Ibleam and its towns, Dor and its towns and the natives there, Endor and its towns and natives, Taanach and its towns and natives, and Megiddo and its towns and natives (the third is Naphath-dor).

14 E i figli di Giuseppe, parlando a Giosuè; dessero: « Perchè mi hai dato il possesso di una sola eredità e di una sola parte, mentre io formo sì grande moltitudine, avendomi il Signore benedetto »	14 The descendants of Joseph said to Joshua, "Why have you given us only one lot and one share as our heritage? Our people are too many, because of the extent to which the LORD has blessed us."
15 Giosuè disse loro: « Se tu sei un gran popolo, sali al bosco e tagliati dello spazio nella terra dei Ferezei e dei Rafaim, se il territorio del monte di Efraim è troppo stretto per te ».	15 Joshua answered them, "If you are too many, go up to the forest and clear out a place for yourselves there in the land of the Perizzites and Rephaim, since the mountain regions of Ephraim are so narrow."
16 I figli di Giuseppe gli risposero: « Noi non potremo salire fino alle montagne, per chè i Cananei che abitano nella pianura, dov'è Betsan coi suoi villaggi e Iezrael, che tiene il mezzo della valle, hanno carri di ferro ».	16 For the Josephites said, "Our mountain regions are not enough for us; on the other hand, the Canaanites living in the valley region all have iron chariots, in particular those in Beth-shean and its towns, and those in the valley of Jezreel."
17 E Giosuè disse alla casa di Giuseppe, Efraim e Manasse: « Essendo tu un popolo numeroso e molto forte, non avrai una sola parte,	17 Joshua therefore said to Ephraim and Manasseh, the house of Joseph, "You are a numerous people and very strong. You shall have not merely one share,
18 se salirai al monte e lì taglierai e farai dello spazio libero per abitarvi, tu potrai allargarti quando avrai sterminato il Cananeo, che dici aver carri di ferro ed esser fortissimo ».	18 for the mountain region which is now forest shall be yours when you clear it. Its adjacent land shall also be yours if, despite their strength and iron chariots, you drive out the Canaanites."
