1 Queste sono le generazioni di Aronne e di Mosè, nel giorno in cui il Signore parlò a Mosè sul monte Sinai.	1 The following were the descendants of Aaron and Moses at the time that the LORD spoke to Moses on Mount Sinai.
2 Ecco i nomi dei figli d'Aronne: Nadab, suo primogenito, Abiu, Eleazar e Itamar.	2 The sons of Aaron were Nadab his first-born, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.
3 Questi sono i nomi dei sacerdoti figli di Aronnè che furono unti ed ebbero le mani ripiene e consacrate per esercitare il sacerdozio;	3 These are the names of the sons of Aaron, the anointed priests who were ordained to exercise the priesthood.
4 Ma Nadab e Abiu morirono senza figli nel deserto del Sinai, mentre offrivano del fuoco profano nel cospetto del Signore, e quindi esercitarono il sacerdozio, alla presenza di Aronne loro padre, Eleazar e Itamar.	4 But when Nadab and Abihu offered profane fire before the LORD in the desert of Sinai, they met death in the presence of the LORD, and left no sons. Thereafter only Eleazar and Ithamar performed the priestly functions under the direction of their father Aaron.
5 E il Signore parlò a Mosè, dicendo:	5 Now the LORD said to Moses:
6 Fa' avvicinare la tribù di Levi e falla comparire dinanzi al sacerdote Aronne, affinchè lo servano, e veglino,	6 "Summon the tribe of Levi and present them to Aaron the priest, as his assistants.
7 osservino tutto ciò che riguarda il culto del popolo dinanzi al Tabernacolo della testimonianza,	7 They shall discharge his obligations and those of the whole community before the meeting tent by serving at the Dwelling.
8 custodiscano gli arredi del Tabernacolo e ne facciano il servizio.	8 They shall have custody of all the furnishings of the meeting tent and discharge the duties of the Israelites in the service of the Dwelling.
9 Donerai i leviti	9 You shall give the Levites to Aaron and his sons; they have been set aside from among the Israelites as dedicated to me.
10 ad Aronne e ai suoi figli, ai quali sono stati dati dai figli d'Israele, costituirai nelle funzioni del sacerdozio Aronne e i suoi figli: l'estraneo che si accosti per esercitare il ministero sarà messo a morte ».	10 But only Aaron and his descendants shall you appoint to have charge of the priestly functions. Any layman who comes near shall be put to death."
11 Il Signore parlò a Mosè, dicendo:	11 The LORD said to Moses,
12 « Ho preso i leviti dai figli d'Israele in luogo di ogni primogenito che apre il seno materno tra i figli d'Israele; e i leviti saranno miei,	12 "It is I who have chosen the Levites from the Israelites in place of every first-born that opens the womb among the Israelites. The Levites, therefore, are mine,
13 perchè ogni primogenito è mio. Dacché percossi i primogeniti nella terra d'Egitto, io mi consacrai tutti i primi nati in Israele, dall'uomo all'animale: sono miei: io sono il Signore ».	13 because every first-born is mine. When I slew all the first-born in the land of Egypt, I made all the first-born in Israel sacred to me, both of man and of beast. They belong to me; I am the LORD."
14 Il Signore parlò a Mosè nel deserto del Sinai, dicendo:	14 The LORD said to Moses in the desert of Sinai,
15 « Fa' il censimento dei figli di Levi, tutti i maschi da un mese in su, secondo le case dei loro padri e le loro famiglie ».	15 "Take a census of the Levites by ancestral houses and clans, registering every male of a month or more."
16 Mosè ne fece il censimento, come il Signore aveva comandato.	16 Moses, therefore, took their census in accordance with the command the LORD had given him.
17 Ecco i figli di Levi trovati secondo il loro nome: Gerson, Caat, Merari.	17 The sons of Levi were named Gershon, Kohath and Merari.
18 Figli di Gerson: Lebni e Semei;	18 The descendants of Gershon, by clans, were named Libni and Shimei.
19 Figli di Caat: Amram e Iesaar, Ebron e Oziel;	19 The descendants of Kohath, by clans, were Amram, Izhar, Hebron and Uzziel.
20 Figli di Merari: Moholi e Musi.	20 The descendants of Merari, by clans, were Mahli and Mushi. These were the clans of the Levites by ancestral houses.
21 Da Gerson usciron le due famiglie dei Lebniti e dei Semeiti,	21 To Gershon belonged the clan of the Libnites and the clan of the Shimeites; these were the clans of the Gershonites.
22 la popolazione delle quali, contata da un mese in su, fu di sette mila cinquecento.	22 When all their males of a month or more were registered, they numbered seven thousand five hundred.
23 Questi si accamperanno dietro il Tabernacolo, a occidente,	23 The clans of the Gershonites camped behind the Dwelling, to the west.
24 sotto il principe Elifaz, figlio di Lael	24 The prince of their ancestral house was Eliasaph, son of Lael.
25 e, nel Tabernacolo dell'alleanza, avran la cura	25 At the meeting tent they had charge of whatever pertained to the Dwelling, the tent and its covering, the curtain at the entrance of the meeting tent,
26 del Tabernacolo stesso, della sua copertura, del velo che si tira davanti alla porta del Tabernacolo dell'alleanza, delle cortine dell'atrio, della tenda che si sospende all'ingresso dell'atrio del Tabernacolo, di tutto quel che serve al ministero dell'altare, delle corde del Tabernacolo e di tutti i suoi utensili.	26 the hangings of the court, the curtain at the entrance of the court enclosing both the Dwelling and the altar, and the ropes.
27 La discendenza di Caat avrà le famiglie degli Amramiti, dei Gesaariti, degli Ebroniti e degli Ozieliti. Queste son le famiglie dei Caatiti numerate secondo i loro nomi,	27 To Kohath belonged the clans of the Amramites, the Izharites, the Hebronites, and the Uzzielites; these were the clans of the Kohathites.
28 i maschi da un mese in su sono otto mila seicento: essi avran cura del santuario	28 When all their males of a month or more were registered, they numbered eight thousand three hundred. They had charge of the sanctuary.
29 e si accamperanno dalla parte del mezzodì,	29 The clans of the Kohathites camped at the south side of the Dwelling.
30 il loro principe sarà Elisafan, figlio di Oziel;	30 The prince of their ancestral house was Elizaphan, son of Uzziel.
31 avran cura dell'arca, della tavola, del candelabro, degli altari, dei vasi del santuario che servono al ministero, del velo e di tutti gli altri oggetti di questa specie.	31 They had charge of whatever pertained to the ark, the table, the lampstand, the altars, the utensils with which the ministry of the sanctuary was exercised, and the veil.
32 Il principe dei principi dei leviti, Eleazaro figlio del sacerdote Aronne, sopraintenderà a quelli che han la custodia del santuario.	32 The chief prince of the Levites, however, was Eleazar, son of Aaron the priest; he was supervisor over those who had charge of the sanctuary.
33 Da Merari discendono le famiglie dei Moholiti e dei Musiti, numerati secondo i loro nomi:	33 To Merari belonged the clans of the Mahlites and the Mushites; these were the clans of Merari.
34 « Tutti i maschi da un mese in su sono sei mila duecento:	34 When all their males of a month or more were registered, they numbered six thousand two hundred.
35 il loro principe è Suriel figlio di Abihaiel; si accamperanno a settentrione	35 The prince of the ancestral house of the clans of Merari was Zuriel, son of Abihail. They camped at the north side of the Dwelling.
36 e saranno affidate a loro le assi del Tabernacolo, le sbarre, le colonne colle loro basi, e tutto ciò che appartiene a tal servizio,	36 The Merarites were charged with the care of whatever pertained to the boards of the Dwelling, its bars, columns, pedestals, and all its fittings,
37 le colonne dell'atrio d'intorno con le loro basi, i pioli e le funi.	37 as well as the columns of the surrounding court with their pedestals, pegs and ropes.
38 Mosè e Aronne con i suoi figli si accamperanno dinanzi al Tabernacolo dell'alleanza, ad oriente, e custodiranno il santuario in mezzo ai figli d'Israele: qualunque estraneo vi si accosti sarà messo a morte ».	38 East of the Dwelling, that is, in front of the meeting tent, toward the sunrise, were camped Moses and Aaron and the latter's sons. They discharged the obligations of the sanctuary for the Israelites. Any layman who came near was to be put to death.
39 Tutti i leviti che Mosè ed Aronne, per comando di Dio, numerarono secondo le loro famiglie, contando i maschi da un mese in su, furono ventiduemila.	39 The total number of male Levites a month old or more whom Moses had registered by clans in keeping with the LORD'S command, was twenty-two thousand.
40 E il Signore disse a Mosè: « Conta i primogeniti maschi dei figli d'Israele da un mese in su e fanne la somma,	40 The LORD then said to Moses, "Take a census of all the first-born males of the Israelites a month old or more, and compute their total number.
41 e prendi per me i leviti in luogo di tutti i primogeniti dei figli d'Israele, così pure i loro bestiami invece di tutti i primogeniti dei bestiami dei figli d'Israele. Io sono il Signore ».	41 Then assign the Levites to me, the LORD, in place of all the first-born of the Israelites, as well as their cattle in place of all the first-born among the cattle of the Israelites."
42 Mosè fece il censimento dei primogeniti dei figli d'Israele, come il Signore aveva ordinato,	42 So Moses took a census of all the first-born of the Israelites, as the LORD had commanded him.
43 e i maschi da un mese in su, numerati secondo i loro nomi, furono ventiduemila duecentosettantatrè.	43 When all the first-born males of a month or more were registered, they numbered twenty-two thousand two hundred and seventy-three.
44 Il Signore parlò a Mosè, dicendo:	44 The LORD said to Moses:
45 « Prendi i leviti in luogo dei primogeniti dei figli d'Israele, così pure i bestiami dei leviti in luogo del loro bestiamee i leviti saranno miei: Io sono il Signore.	45 "Take the Levites in place of all the first-born of the Israelites, and the Levites' cattle in place of their cattle, that the Levites may belong to me. I am the LORD.
46 Per il riscatto dei duecentosettantatrè primogeniti dei figli d'Israele che sopravanzano il numero dei leviti,	46 As ransom for the two hundred and seventy-three first-born of the Israelites who outnumber the Levites,
47 prenderai cinque sicli per testa,secondo la misura del santuario. Il siclo contiene ventioboli.	47 you shall take five shekels for each individual, according to the standard of the sanctuary shekel, twenty gerahs to the shekel.
48 Darai tal danaro ad Aronne ed ai suoi figli come prezzo dei primogeniti che sono di più ».	48 Give this silver to Aaron and his sons as ransom for the extra number."
49 E Mose, preso il danaro per quelli che eran di più dei leviti che riscattavano	49 So Moses took the silver as ransom from those who were left when the rest had been redeemed by the Levites.
50 i primogeniti dei figli d'Israele, mille trecentosessantacinque sicli secondo la misura del santuario,	50 From the first-born of the Israelites he received in silver one thousand three hundred and sixty-five shekels according to the sanctuary standard.
51 lo diede ad Aronne e ai suoi figli secondo l'ordine che il Signore gli aveva dato.	51 He then gave this ransom silver to Aaron and his sons, as the LORD had commanded him.
