3 Quem ama a sabedoria alegra seu pai; o que freqüenta as prostitutas dissipa sua fortuna. | 3 The lover of Wisdom makes his father glad, but the patron of prostitutes fritters his wealth away. |
4 É pela justiça que um rei firma seu país, mas aquele que o sobrecarrega com muitos impostos, o arruína. | 4 A king gives a country stability by justice, an extortioner brings it to ruin. |
5 O homem que adula seu próximo estende redes aos seus pés. | 5 Whoever flatters his companion spreads a net for his feet. |
6 No delito do ímpio há um ardil, mas o justo corre alegremente. | 6 In the sin of the wicked lies a snare, but the upright exults and rejoices. |
7 O justo conhece a causa dos pobres; o ímpio a ignora. | 7 The upright understands the cause of the weak, the wicked has not the wit to understand it. |
8 Os escarnecedores ateiam fogo na cidade, mas os sábios acalmam o furor. | 8 Scoffers set a city in ferment, but the wise moderate anger. |
9 Discute um sábio com um tolo? Que ele se zangue ou que ele se ria, não terá paz. | 9 Let someone wise argue with a fool, anger and good humour alike wil be wasted. |
10 Os homens sanguinários odeiam o íntegro, mas os homens retos tomam cuidado com sua vida. | 10 The bloodthirsty hate the honest, but the upright seek them out. |
11 O insensato desafoga toda sua ira, mas o sábio a domina e a recalca. | 11 The fool blurts out every angry feeling, but the wise subdues and restrains them. |

13 O pobre e o opressor se encontram: é o Senhor que ilumina os olhos de cada um. | 13 Poor and oppressor are found together, Yahweh gives light to the eyes of both. |
14 Um rei que julga com eqüidade os humildes terá seu trono firmado para sempre. | 14 The king who judges the weak with equity sees his throne set firm for ever. |
15 Vara e correção dão a sabedoria; menino abandonado à sua vontade se torna a vergonha da mãe. | 15 The stick and the reprimand bestow wisdom, a young man left to himself brings shame on his mother. |
16 Quando se multiplicam os ímpios, multiplica-se o crime, mas os justos contemplarão sua queda. | 16 When the wicked are on the increase, sin multiplies, but the upright wil witness their downfal . |
17 Corrige teu filho e ele te dará repouso e será as delícias de tua vida. | 17 Correct your child, and he wil give you peace of mind; he will delight your soul. |
18 Por falta de visão, o povo vive sem freios; ditoso o que observa a instrução! | 18 Where there is no vision the people get out of hand; happy are they who keep the law. |
19 Não é com palavras que se corrige um escravo, porque ele compreende, mas não se atém a elas. | 19 Not by words is a slave corrected: even if he understands, he will take no notice. |
20 Viste um homem precipitado no falar: há mais esperança num tolo do que nele. | 20 You see someone too ready of speech? There is more to be hoped for from a fool! |

25 O temor dos homens prepara um laço, mas quem confia no Senhor permanece seguro. | 25 To be afraid of human beings is a snare, whoever trusts in Yahweh is secure. |
26 Muitos buscam o favor dum príncipe, mas é do Senhor que cada homem alcança justiça | 26 Many people seek a ruler's favour, but the rights of each come from Yahweh. |
27 O homem iníquo é abominado pelos justos; o ímpio abomina aquele que anda pelo caminho certo. | 27 Abhorrent to the upright is the sinful, abhorrent to the wicked is one whose way is straight. |
