LA SACRA BIBBIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 E Tobi disse:	1 And he said: Blessed be God who lives for ever, for his reign endures throughout all ages!
2 "Benedetto sia Dio che vive in eterno, il suo regno dura per tutti i secoli. Egli castiga e usa misericordia, fa scendere fino all'abisso più profondo della terra e fa risalire dalla grande perdizione, non c'è nulla che sfugga alla sua mano.	2 For he both punishes and pardons; he sends people down to the depths of the underworld and drawsthem up from utter Destruction; no one can escape his hand.
3 Celebratelo, Israeliti, davanti alle nazioni, perché egli vi ha dispersi in mezzo ad esse,	3 Declare his praise before the nations, you who are the children of Israel! For if he has scattered youamong them,
4 e qui vi ha fatto vedere la sua grandezza. Esaltatelo davanti ad ogni vivente, perché egli è il nostro Signore, il nostro Dio, egli è il nostro Padre, il Dio per tutti i secoli.	4 there too he has shown you his greatness. Extol him before al the living; he is our Lord and he is ourGod; he is our Father, and he is God for ever and ever.
5 Vi castiga a causa delle vostre iniquità, ma avrà pietà di tutti voi in mezzo a tutte le nazioni, fra le quali siete stati dispersi.	5 Though he punishes you for your iniquities, he will take pity on you al ; he wil gather you from everynation wherever you have been scattered.
6 Quando vi sarete convertiti a lui, con tutto il vostro cuore e con tutta l'anima per essere sinceri con lui, allora egli si volgerà verso di voi e non vi nasconderà più il volto.	6 If you return to him with al your heart and al your soul, behaving honestly towards him, then he wilreturn to you and hide his face from you no longer. Consider how wel he has treated you; loudly give himthanks. Bless the Lord of justice and extol the King of the ages. I for my part sing his praise in the country of myexile; I make his power and greatness known to a nation that has sinned. Sinners, return to him; let your conductbe upright before him; perhaps he wil be gracious to you and take pity on you.
7 Ora considerate ciò che ha operato per voi e celebratelo a piena voce. Benedite il Signore della giustizia ed esaltate il Re dei secoli.	7 I for my part extol God and my soul rejoices in the King of heaven. Let his greatness
8 Io lo celebro nel mio paese di esilio e annuncio la sua potenza e grandezza a un popolo di peccatori. Convertitevi, o peccatori, e operate rettamente in sua presenza. Chissà che non torni ad amarvi e a farvi misericordia.	8 be on every tongue, his praises be sung in Jerusalem.
9 Esalto il mio Dio e celebro il Re del cielo ed esulto per la sua grandezza.	9 Jerusalem, Holy City, God has scourged you for what you have done but wil still take pity on thechildren of the upright.
10 Che tutti lo lodino e gli rendano grazie in Gerusalemme. Gerusalemme, città santa, Dio ti castigò a causa delle opere dei tuoi figli, ma avrà di nuovo pietà dei figli dei giusti.	10 Thank the Lord as he deserves and bless the King of the ages, that your Temple may be rebuilt withjoy within you; within you he may comfort every exile, and within you he may love al those who are distressed,for all generations to come.
11 Da' lode al Signore degnamente e benedici il Re dei secoli; il tuo tempio ti sia ricostruito con gioia,	11 A bright light wil shine over al the regions of the earth; many nations wil come from far away, fromal the ends of the earth, to dwel close to the holy name of the Lord God, with gifts in their hands for the King ofheaven. Within you, generation after generation wil proclaim their joy, and the name of her who is Elect wilendure through the generations to come.
12 così che si allietino in te tutti i deportati, e siano amati in te tutti gli sventurati per tutte le generazioni dei secoli.	12 Cursed be any who affront you, cursed be any who destroy you, who throw down your wal s, whorase your towers, who burn your houses! Eternally blessed be he who rebuilds you!
13 Una luce risplendente brillerà in tutte le regioni della terra. Nazioni numerose verranno a te da lontano, e gli abitanti di tutti i confini della terra verranno verso la dimora del tuo santo nome, portando in mano i doni per il Re del cielo. Generazioni senza fine esprimeranno in te l'esultanza e il nome della città eletta durerà per sempre.	13 Then you wil exult, and rejoice over the children of the upright, for they wil al have been gathered inand will bless the Lord of the ages.
14 Maledetti coloro che ti insultano, maledetti saranno quanti ti distruggono, demoliscono le tue mura, rovinano le tue torri e incendiano le tue abitazioni. Ma benedetti per sempre coloro che ti temono.	14 Blessed are those who love you, blessed those who rejoice over your peace, blessed those whohave mourned over al your punishment! For they wil soon rejoice within you, witness al your blessedness indays to come.
15 Sorgi, allora, ed esulta a causa dei figli dei giusti, perché tutti si raduneranno e benediranno il Signore dei secoli. Beati coloro che ti amano! Beati coloro che gioiscono per la tua prosperità!	15 My soul blesses the Lord, the great King
16 Beati tutti quelli che avranno fatto lutto per te a causa di tutte le tue prove, perché gioiranno per te, vedendo tutta la tua gioia per sempre. Anima mia, benedici il Signore, il gran Re,	16 because Jerusalem wil be built anew and his house for ever and ever. What bliss, if one of my familybe left to see your glory and praise the King of heaven! The gates of Jerusalem will be built of sapphire and ofemerald, and al your walls of precious stone, the towers of Jerusalem wil be built of gold and their battlementsof pure gold.
17 perché Gerusalemme sarà ricostruita e nella città il suo tempio durerà per sempre. Beato sarò io, se rimane qualcuno della mia discendenza per vedere la tua gloria e celebrare il Re del cielo. Le porte di Gerusalemme saranno ricostruite con zaffiro e smeraldo, e tutte le sue mura con pietre preziose. Le torri di Gerusalemme saranno costruite con oro e i suoi baluardi con oro finissimo. Le piazze di Gerusalemme saranno lastricate con turchese e pietre di Ofir.	17 The streets of Jerusalem wil be paved with ruby and with stones from Ophir; the gates of Jerusalemwil resound with songs of exultation; and al her houses wil say, 'Al eluia! Blessed be the God of Israel.' Withinyou they will bless the holy name for ever and ever.
18 Le porte di Gerusalemme risuoneranno di canti di giubilo e tutte le sue case acclameranno: "Alleluia, benedetto il Dio d'Israele". Coloro che sono da lui benedetti benediranno il suo santo nome nei secoli, per sempre".
