1 Timothy 2

1 And so I beg you, first of all, to make supplications, prayers, petitions, and thanksgivings for all men,	1 Adunque prego siano fatte, prima di tutte l'altre cose, preghiere e orazioni e dimandamenti e referimento di grazie per tutti li uomini,
2 for kings, and for all who are in high places, so that we may lead a quiet and tranquil life in all piety and chastity.	2 e per tutti i re, e per tutti coloro che son ordinati in alcuna altezza di signorìa, acciò che noi abbiamo vita quieta e tranquilla, con ogni pietà e castità.
3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,	3 E questo è buono e piacevole davanti a Dio nostro Salvatore.
4 who wants all men to be saved and to arrive at an acknowledgment of the truth.	4 Il quale vuole che tutti gli uomini sieno salvi, e che vengano a conoscimento della verità.
5 For there is one God, and one mediator of God and of men, the man Christ Jesus,	5 Chè Dio è uno, e uno tramezzatore tra Dio e li uomini, cioè l'uomo Iesù Cristo;
6 who gave himself as a redemption for all, as a testimony in its proper time.	6 il quale diede sè medesimo per ricomperare noi e tutti gli altri; il testimonio del quale è (confermato) ne' suoi tempi.
7 Of this testimony, I have been appointed a preacher and an Apostle, (I speak the truth, I do not lie) as a teacher of the Gentiles, in faith and in truth.	7 Nel qual testimonio io son posto predicatore e apostolo; verità dico a voi, e non mento (in Iesù Cristo); io son ammaestratore delle genti in fede e in verità.
8 Therefore, I want men to pray in every place, lifting up pure hands, without anger or dissension.	8 Adunque voglio che gli uomini debbano orare in ogni luogo, levando le mani pure (al cielo), senza ira e senza discordia.
9 Similarly also, women should be dressed fittingly, adorning themselves with compunction and restraint, and not with plaited hair, nor gold, nor pearls, nor costly attire,	9 Simigliantemente le femine, con abito ornato, e con vergogna e con temperanza ornandosi, non con capelli torti (ornate) nè con corone, ovver con margarite e con preziose vestimenta,
10 but in a manner proper for women who are professing piety by means of good works.	10 ma con quelle cose che si convengono alle femine (oneste), dimostrando pietà per buone opere.
11 Let a woman learn in silence with all subjection.	11 La femina imprenda con silenzio, con ogni soggezione.
12 For I do not permit a woman to teach, nor to be in authority over a man, but to be in silence.	12 E non permetto che la femina (insegni e) ammaestri li uomini, nè che li signorizzi; anzi si posi in silenzio.
13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve.	13 Imperò che Adam in prima fu formato, e poi fu fatta Eva.
14 And Adam was not seduced, but the woman, having been seduced, was in transgression.	14 Adam non fu (ingannato nè) sedotto (dal serpente); ma la femina fu sedotta, e fu nel prevaricamento (del comandamento di Dio).
15 Yet she will be saved by bearing children, if she has continued in faith and love, and in sanctification accompanied by self-restraint.	15 Ma ella sarà salva per generazione delli figliuoli, se ella permanerà in fede e amore, e in santificazione con temperanza.
