1 Unto the end. A Canticle Psalm of David himself.	1 - Al corifeo. Salmo-cantico di David
2 May God rise up, and may his enemies be scattered, and may those who hate him flee from before his face.	2 Sorga Iddio e sian dispersi i suoi nemici, e fuggan, quei che l'odiano, davanti alla sua faccia.
3 Just as smoke vanishes, so may they vanish. Just as wax flows away before the face of fire, so may sinners pass away before the face of God.	3 Come si dilegua il fumo, si dileguino: come si scioglie la cera davanti al fuoco, così periscan gli empi in faccia a Dio.
4 And so, let the just feast, and let them exult in the sight of God and be delighted in gladness.	4 E i giusti tripudino ed esultino al cospetto di Dio, e gioiscan per l'allegrezza.
5 Sing to God, sing a psalm to his name. Make a path for him, who ascends over the west. The Lord is his name. Exult in his sight; they will be stirred up before his face,	5 Cantate a Dio, inneggiate al suo nome, spianate la via a colui che s'avanza per i deserti: il suo nome è il Signore, esultate al suo cospetto. Si sbigottiranno [gli empi] alla presenza di lui.
6 the father of orphans and the judge of widows. God is in his holy place.	6 Padre degli orfani e giudice delle vedove, dio sta nella sua santa dimora,
7 It is God who makes men dwell in a house under one custom. He leads out those who are strongly bound, and similarly, those who exasperate, who dwell in sepulchers.	7 Iddio, che dà ai solitari una casa, che libera i prigionieri con fortezza: soltanto i ribelli restan nella steppa!
8 O God, when you departed in the sight of your people, when you passed through the desert,	8 O Dio, quando uscisti alla testa del tuo popolo, quando traversasti il deserto,
9 the earth was moved, for the heavens rained down before the face of the God of Sinai, before the face of the God of Israel.	9 la terra si scosse e i cieli gocciolarono, di fronte al Dio del Sinai, di fronte al Dio d'Israele.
10 You will set aside for your inheritance, O God, a willing rain. And though it was weak, truly, you have made it perfect.	10 Una spontanea pioggia tu largisti al tuo retaggio, e stanco ch'e' fu, tu lo ristorasti.
11 Your animals will dwell in it. O God, in your sweetness, you have provided for the poor.	11 I tuoi animali si fermarono in mezzo ad esso: tu provvedesti al povero, o Dio, nella tua bontà.
12 The Lord will give the word to evangelizers, along with great virtue.	12 Il Signore fa parlare i messaggeri per la sua molta prodezza:
13 The King of virtue is beloved among the beloved. And the beauty of the house will divide spoils.	13 i re degli eserciti fuggono, fuggono, e la venusta [signora] della casa spartisce le spoglie.
14 If you take your rest in the midst of the clergy, you will be like a dove whose wings are covered with fine silver and edged with pale gold.	14 Oh! riposate entro i sortiti confini; le ali della colomba sono argentate, e l'estremità del dorso ha il pallore dell'oro!
15 When heaven discerns kings to be over her, they will be whitened with the snows of Zalmon.	15 Mentre il celeste [nume] disperdeva i re su quella [terra], biancheggiavan di neve le pendici sul Selmon.
16 The mountain of God is a fat mountain, a dense mountain, a thick mountain.	16 Monte di Dio, monte ferace, monte opimo, monte ferace!
17 So then, why are you distrustful of dense mountains? The mountain on which God is well pleased to dwell, even there, the Lord will dwell until the end.	17 Perchè guardate i monti opimi?[È Sion] il monte in cui s'è compiaciuto Iddio di abitare: e invero ci abiterà per sempre.
18 The chariot of God is ten thousand fold: thousands rejoice. The Lord is with them in Sinai, in the holy place.	18 I carri di Dio son diecine di migliaia, [v'è] migliaia di giubilanti: il Signore viene dal Sinai nel santuario.
19 You have ascended on high; you have taken captivity captive. You have accepted gifts among men. For even those who do not believe dwell with the Lord God.	19 Tu ascendi in alto [sul Sion], trascini dietro prigionieri, ricevi doni tra gli uomini; sì, anche [tra] i ribelli, perchè ci abiti il Signore Iddio in eterno.
20 Blessed is the Lord, day after day. The God of our salvation will make our journey prosper for us.	20 Benedetto il Signore Iddio ogni giorno! Prospere rende a noi le vie Iddio della nostra salvezza.
21 Our God is the God who will bring about our salvation, and our Lord is the Lord who has brought an end to death.	21 Il nostro Dio è un Dio che salva, e in mano del Signore Iddio è lo scampo da morte.
22 So then, truly, God will break the heads of his enemies, the hairy skull of those who wander around in their offenses.	22 Ma Dio schiaccerà il capo de' suoi nemici, il cocuzzolo capelluto di quei che camminano ne' loro delitti.
23 The Lord said: I will turn them away from Bashan, I will turn them into the depths of the sea,	23 Ha detto il Signore: «Da Basan [li] ricondurrò, [li] ricondurrò dal fondo del mare!
24 so that your feet may be soaked in the blood of your enemies, so that the tongue of your dogs may be soaked with the same.	24 affinchè si tuffi, [o Israele], il tuo piede nel sangue, e la lingua de' tuoi cani n'[abbia] la sua parte succhiandolo da' nemici».
25 O God, they have seen your arrival, the arrival of my God, of my king who is in a holy place.	25 Vedono la tua avanzata, o Dio, l'avanzata del mio Dio, del mio re nel santuario.
26 The leaders went ahead, united with the singers of psalms, in the midst of girls playing on timbrels.	26 Precedono i cantori uniti ai sonatori di cetra, in mezzo a fanciulle sonatrici di cembali.
27 In the churches, bless the Lord God from the fountains of Israel.	27 Nelle adunanze benedite Iddio, [benedite] il Signore, [voi scaturiti] dalla fonte d'Israele!
28 In that place, Benjamin is a youth in ecstasy of mind. The leaders of Judah are their governors: the leaders of Zebulun, the leaders of Naphtali.	28 [Ecco] là Beniamino, il giovane, in rapimento di spirito, i principi di Giuda, i loro capi, i principi di Zabulon, i principi di Neftali.
29 Command by your virtue, O God. Confirm in this place, O God, what you have wrought in us.	29 Comanda, o Dio, alla tua possanza, rafferma, o Dio, ciò che hai fatto per noi.
30 Before your temple in Jerusalem, kings will offer gifts to you.	30 Dal tuo tempio in Gerusalemmet'offriran doni i re.
31 Rebuke the wild beasts of the reeds, a congregation of bulls with the cows of the people, for they seek to exclude those who have been tested like silver. Scatter the nations that are pleased by wars.	31 Minaccia la bestia de' canneti, la torma de' tori tra le vacche de' popoli: che si prostrin con pezzi d'argento! Disperdi le nazioni che voglion le guerre.
32 Ambassadors will come out of Egypt. Ethiopia will offer in advance her hands to God.	32 Verranno [allora] ambasciatori dall'Egitto, l'Etiopia stenderà le sue mani a Dio.
33 Sing to God, O kingdoms of the earth. Sing psalms to the Lord. Sing psalms to God.	33 Regni della terra, cantate a Dio, inneggiate al Signore, inneggiate a colui
34 He ascends, up to the heaven of the heavens, toward the east. Behold, he will utter his voice, the voice of virtue.	34 che se ne viene a cavallo dal sommo cielo verso oriente! Ecco egli dà alla sua voce suono potente.
35 Give glory to God beyond Israel. His magnificence and his virtue is in the clouds.	35 Date gloria a Dio! Sopra Israele è la sua magnificenza, e la sua potenza nelle nubi.
36 God is wonderful in his saints. The God of Israel himself will give virtue and strength to his people. Blessed is God.	36 Mirabile è Dio nel suo santuario: iddio d'Israele, è lui che dà valore e forza al suo popolo. Benedetto sia Iddio!
