1 While these things were going on, it happened that two eunuchs, the cupbearer of the king of Egypt, and the miller of grain, offended their lord.	1 Después de estas cosas sucedió que el escanciador y el panadero del rey de Egipto ofendieron a su señor, el rey de Egipto.
2 And Pharaoh, being angry with them, (now the one was in charge of the cupbearers, the other of the millers of grain)	2 Faraón se enojó contra sus dos eunucos, contra el jefe de los escanciadores y el jefe de los panaderos,
3 sent them to the prison of the leader of the military, in which Joseph also was a prisoner.	3 y les puso bajo la custodia en casa del jefe de los guardias, en prisión, en el lugar donde estaba detenido José.
4 But the keeper of the prison delivered them to Joseph, who ministered to them also. Some little time passed by, while they were held in custody.	4 El jefe de los guardias encargó de ellos a José, para que les sirviese. Así pasaban los días en presidio.
5 And they both saw a similar dream on one night, whose interpretations should be related to one another.	5 Aconteció que ambos soñaron sendos sueños en una misma noche, cada cual con su sentido propio: el escanciador y el panadero del rey de Egipto que estaban detenidos en la prisión.
6 And when Joseph had entered to them in the morning, and had seen them sad,	6 José vino a ellos por la mañana, y los encontró preocupados.
7 he consulted them, saying, “Why is your expression sadder today than usual?”	7 Preguntó, pues, a los eunucos de Faraón, que estaban con él en presidio en casa de su señor: «¿Por qué tenéis hoy mala cara?»
8 They responded, “We have seen a dream, and there is no one to interpret it for us.” And Joseph said to them, “Doesn’t interpretation belong to God? Recount for me what you have seen.”	8 «Hemos soñado un sueño - le dijeron - y no hay quien lo interprete.» José les dijo: «¿No son de Dios los sentidos ocultos? Vamos, contádmelo a mí.»
9 The chief cupbearer explained his dream first. “I saw before me a vine,	9 El jefe de los escanciadores contó su sueño a José y le dijo: «Voy con mi sueño. Resulta que yo tenía delante una cepa,
10 on which were three shoots, which grew little by little into buds, and, after the flowers, it matured into grapes.	10 y en la cepa tres sarmientos, que nada más echar yemas, florecían enseguida y maduraban las uvas en sus racimos.
11 And the cup of Pharaoh was in my hand. Therefore, I took the grapes, and I pressed them into the cup that I held, and I handed the cup to Pharaoh.”	11 Yo tenía en la mano la copa de Faraón, y tomando aquellas uvas, las exprimía en la copa de Faraón, y ponía la copa en la mano de Faraón.»
12 Joseph responded: “This is the interpretation of the dream. The three shoots are the next three days,	12 José dijo: «Esta es la interpretación: los tres sarmientos, son tres días.
13 after which Pharaoh will remember your service, and he will restore you to your former position. And you will give him the cup according to your office, as you were accustomed to do before.	13 Dentro de tres días levantará Faraón tu cabeza: te devolverá a tu cargo, y pondrás la copa de Faraón en su mano, lo mismo que antes, cuando eras su escanciador.
14 Only remember me, when it will be well with you, and do me this mercy, to suggest to Pharaoh to lead me out of this prison.	14 A ver si te acuerdas de mí cuando te vaya bien, y me haces el favor de hablar de mí a Faraón para que me saque de esta casa.
15 For I have been stolen from the land of the Hebrews, and here, innocently, I was cast into the pit.”	15 Pues fui raptado del país de los hebreos, y por lo demás, tampoco aquí hice nada para que me metieran en el pozo.»
16 The chief miller of grain, seeing that he had wisely unraveled the dream, said: “I also saw a dream: that I had three baskets of meal above my head,	16 Vio el jefe panaderos que era buena la interpretación y dijo a José: «Voy con mi sueño: Había tres cestas de pan candeal sobre mi cabeza.
17 and in one basket, which was the highest, I carried all foods that are made by the art of baking, and the birds ate from it.”	17 En la cesta de arriba había de todo lo que come Faraón de panadería, pero los pájaros se lo comían de la cesta, de encima de mi cabeza.»
18 Joseph responded: “This is the interpretation of the dream. The three baskets are the next three days,	18 Respondió José: «Esta es su interpretación. Las tres cestas, son tres días.
19 after which Pharaoh will carry away your head, and also suspend you from a cross, and the birds will tear your flesh.”	19 A vuelta de tres días levantará Faraón tu cabeza y te colgará en un madero, y las aves se comerán la carne que te cubre.»
20 The third day thereafter was the birthday of Pharaoh. And making a great feast for his servants, he remembered, during the banquet, the chief cupbearer and the chief miller of grain.	20 Al tercer día, que era el natalicio de Faraón, dio éste un banquete para todos sus servidores, y levantó la cabeza del jefe de escanciadores y la del jefe de panaderos en presencia de sus siervos.
21 And he restored the one to his place, to present him the cup;	21 Al jefe de escanciadores le restituyó en su oficio, y volvió a poner la copa en manos de Faraón.
22 the other he hanged on a gallows, and thus the truth of the interpreter of dreams was proven.	22 En cuanto al jefe de panaderos, le colgó: tal y como les había interpretado José.
23 And although he advanced with so much prosperity, the chief cupbearer forgot his interpreter of dreams.	23 Pero el jefe de escanciadores no se acordó de José, sino que le echó en olvido.
