Psalmi 5

1 Magistro chori. Ad tibias. Psalmus. David.	1 [For the choirmaster For flutes Psalm Of David] Give ear to my words, Yahweh, spare a thought for mysighing.
2 Verba mea auribus percipe, Domine; intellege gemitum meum.	2 Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God! To you I pray,
3 Intende voci clamoris mei, rex meus et Deus meus.	3 Yahweh. At daybreak you hear my voice; at daybreak I lay my case before you and fix my eyes on you.
4 Quoniam ad te orabo, Domine, mane exaudies vocem meam; mane astabo tibi et exspectabo.	4 You are not a God who takes pleasure in evil, no sinner can be your guest.
5 Quoniam non Deus volens iniquitatem tu es; neque habitabit iuxta te malignus,	5 Boasters cannot stand their ground under your gaze. You hate evil-doers,
6 neque permanebunt iniusti ante oculos tuos.	6 liars you destroy; the violent and deceitful Yahweh detests.
7 Odisti omnes, qui operantur iniquitatem, perdes omnes, qui loquuntur mendacium; virum sanguinum et dolosum abominabitur Dominus.	7 But, so great is your faithful love, I may come into your house, and before your holy temple bow down inreverence of you.
8 Ego autem in multitudine misericordiae tuae introibo in domum tuam; adorabo ad templum sanctum tuum in timore tuo.	8 In your saving justice, Yahweh, lead me, because of those who lie in wait for me; make your way plainbefore me.
9 Domine, deduc me in iustitia tua propter inimicos meos, dirige in conspectu meo viam tuam.	9 Not a word from their lips can be trusted, through and through they are destruction, their throats arewide -- open graves, their tongues seductive.
10 Quoniam non est in ore eorum veritas, cor eorum fovea; sepulcrum patens est guttur eorum, molliunt linguas suas.	10 Lay the guilt on them, God, make their intrigues their own downfal ; for their countless offences, thrustthem from you, since they have rebel ed against you.
11 Iudica illos, Deus; decidant a cogitationibus suis; secundum multitudinem impietatum eorum expelle eos, quoniam irritaverunt te, Domine.	11 But joy for al who take refuge in you, endless songs of gladness! You shelter them, they rejoice inyou, those who love your name.
12 Et omnes, qui sperant in te, laetentur, in aeternum exsultent. Obumbrabis eis, et gloriabuntur in te, qui diligunt nomen tuum;	12 It is you who bless the upright, Yahweh, you surround them with favour as with a shield.
13 quoniam tu benedices iusto, Domine, quasi scuto, bona voluntate coronabis eum.
