NEW JERUSALEM	Biblia Matos Soares
1 From James, servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ. Greetings to the twelve tribes of theDispersion.	1 Tiago, servo de Deus e do Senhor Jesus Cristo, às doze tribos da Dispersão, saúde.
2 My brothers, consider it a great joy when trials of many kinds come upon you,	2 Meus irmãos, tende por um motivo da maior alegria toda a espécie de tribulações que vos afligem,
3 for you wel know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance, and	3 sabendo que a prova da vossa fé produz a constância.
4 perseverance must complete its work so that you wil become ful y developed, complete, not deficient inany way.	4 Mas a constância faz obras perfeitas, a fim de que sejais perfeitos, completos, não faltando em coisa alguma.
5 Any of you who lacks wisdom must ask God, who gives to al generously and without scolding; it wil begiven.	5 Se algum de vós necessita de sabedoria, peça-a a Deus, que a todos dá liberalmente e não lança em rosto, e ser-lhe-á concedida.
6 But the prayer must be made with faith, and no trace of doubt, because a person who has doubts is likethe waves thrown up in the sea by the buffeting of the wind.	6 Mas peça-a com fé, sem nada hesitar, porque aquele que hesita é semelhante à onda do mar, agitada e levada de uma parte para a outra pelo vento.
7 That sort of person, in two minds,	7 Não pense, pois, tal homem que receberá do Senhor alguma coisa.
8 inconsistent in every activity, must not expect to receive anything from the Lord.	8 O homem de espírito duplo é inconstante em todos os seus caminhos.
9 It is right that the brother in humble circumstances should glory in being lifted up,	9 O irmão que é de condição baixa, glorie-se da sua exaltação (ao cristianismo);
10 and the rich in being brought low. For the rich wil last no longer than the wild flower;	10 pelo contrário o rico (glorie-se, não da sua riqueza, mas) da sua humilhação (diante de Deus), porque ele passará como a flor da erva.
11 the scorching sun comes up, and the grass withers, its flower falls, its beauty is lost. It is the samewith the rich: in the middle of a busy life, the rich wil wither.	11 O sol rompeu ardente: secou a erva e a flor cai, perde a gala do seu aspecto. Assim também murchará o rico nos seus caminhos.
12 Blessed is anyone who perseveres when trials come. Such a person is of proven worth and will winthe prize of life, the crown that the Lord has promised to those who love him.	12 Bem-aventurado o homem que sofre (com paciência) a provação, porque, depois que tiver sido provado, receberá a coroa da vida, que Deus prometeu aos que o amam.
13 Never, when you are being put to the test, say, 'God is tempting me'; God cannot be tempted by evil,and he does not put anybody to the test .	13 Ninguém, quando é tentado, diga que é tentado por Deus, porque Deus não é tentador de coisas más; não tenta ninguém.
14 Everyone is put to the test by being attracted and seduced by that person's own wrong desire.	14 Cada um é tentado pela sua própria concupiscência, que o atrai e alicia;
15 Then the desire conceives and gives birth to sin, and when sin reaches ful growth, it gives birth todeath.	15 depois a concupiscência, quando conceber, dá à luz o pecado; o pecado, quando tiver sido consumado, gera a morte.
16 Make no mistake about this, my dear brothers:	16 Não queirais, pois, enganar-vos, irmãos meus muito amados.
17 al that is good, al that is perfect, is given us from above; it comes down from the Father of al light;with him there is no such thing as alteration, no shadow caused by change.	17 Toda a dádiva excelente, todo o dom perfeito vem do alto e desce do Pai das luzes, no qual não há mudança, nem sombra de vicissitude.
18 By his own choice he gave birth to us by the message of the truth so that we should be a sort of first-fruits of all his creation.	18 Por sua vontade nos gerou pela palavra da verdade, a fim de que sejamos como que as primícias das suas criaturas.
19 Remember this, my dear brothers: everyone should be quick to listen but slow to speak and slow tohuman anger;	19 Sabei isto, meus dilectíssimos irmãos: todo o homem seja pronto para ouvir, porém tardo para falar e tardo para se irar,
20 God's saving justice is never served by human anger;	20 porque a ira do homem não cumpre a justiça de Deus.
21 so do away with al impurities and remnants of evil. Humbly welcome the Word which has beenplanted in you and can save your souls.	21 Pelo que, renunciando a toda a impureza e abundância de malícia, recebei com mansidão a palavra enxertada em vós, a qual pode salvar as vossas almas.
22 But you must do what the Word tel s you and not just listen to it and deceive yourselves.	22 Sede, pois, realizadores da palavra, e não ouvintes sòmente, enganando-vos a vós mesmos.
23 Anyone who listens to the Word and takes no action is like someone who looks at his own features ina mirror and,	23 Porque, se alguém é ouvinte da palavra e não realizador, será comparado a um homem que contempla num espelho o seu rosto nativo;
24 once he has seen what he looks like, goes off and immediately forgets it.	24 apenas se contemplou, e, tendo-se retirado, logo esqueceu como era.
25 But anyone who looks steadily at the perfect law of freedom and keeps to it -- not listening andforgetting, but putting it into practice -- will be blessed in every undertaking.	25 Mas quem fixar a sua vista na (doutrina do Evangelho que é a) lei perfeita da liberdade e perseverar nela, não sendo ouvinte esquecediço, mas executor da obra, esse será bem-aventurado no que fizer.
26 Nobody who fails to keep a tight rein on the tongue can claim to be religious; this is mere self-deception; that person's religion is worthless.	26 Se alguém, pois, julga que é religioso, não refreando a sua língua, mas seduzindo o seu coração, a sua religião é vã.
27 Pure, unspoilt religion, in the eyes of God our Father, is this: coming to the help of orphans andwidows in their hardships, and keeping oneself uncontaminated by the world.	27 A religião pura e sem mácula aos olhos de Deus e nosso Pai é esta: visitar os órfãos e as viúvas, nas suas tribulações, e conservar-se (cada um) puro de toda a mancha deste mundo.
