Yahweh spoke to Moses and Aaron and said to them,1 Jahve reče Mojsiju i Aronu:
'Speak to the Israelites and say: "Of al animals living on land these are the creatures you may eat:2 »Ovako kažite Izraelcima: ‘Ovo su životinje koje između svih četveronožaca na zemlji možete jesti:
"You may eat any animal that has a cloven hoof, divided into two parts, and that is a ruminant.3 svaku koja ima papke, ali papke razdvojene, i koja preživa možete jesti.
The fol owing, which either chew the cud or have a cloven hoof, are the ones that you may not eat: youwil regard the camel as unclean, because though it is ruminant, it does not have a cloven hoof;4 Ali ove, iako preživaju ili papke imaju, ne smijete jesti: devu, jer iako preživa, razdvojena papka nema – za vas je nečista;
you wil regard the coney as unclean, because though it is ruminant, it does not have a cloven hoof;5 svisca, jer iako preživa, razdvojena papka nema – za vas je nečist;
you wil regard the hare as unclean, because though it is ruminant, it does not have a cloven hoof;6 arnebeta, iako preživa, razdvojena papka nema – za vas je nečist.
you wil regard the pig as unclean, because though it has a cloven hoof, divided into two parts, it is nota ruminant.7 A svinja, iako ima papak, i to papak razdvojen, ne preživa – za vas je nečista.
You will not eat the meat of these or touch their dead bodies; you wil regard them as unclean.8 Njihova mesa nemojte jesti niti se njihove strvine doticati – za vas su one nečiste.’
"Of al that lives in water, these you may eat: "Anything that has fins and scales, and lives in the water, whether in sea or river, you may eat.9 ‘Od svih vodenih životinja ove možete jesti: sve što živi u vodi, bilo u morima, bilo u rijekama, a ima peraje i ljuske možete jesti.
But anything in sea or river that does not have fins and scales, of al the smal water-creatures and althe living things found there, you wil regard as detestable.10 A što u morima i rijekama nema peraja i ljusaka – sve životinjice u vodi, sva živa vodena bića – neka su vam odvratna
You wil regard them as detestable; you must not eat their meat and you wil regard their carcases asdetestable.11 i odvratna neka vam ostanu! Mesa od njih nemojte jesti, a njihove strvine držite za odvratnost.
Anything that lives in water, but not having fins and scales, you wil regard as detestable.12 Sve, dakle, što je u vodi a nema peraja i ljusaka neka je za vas odvratno.’
"Of the birds these are the ones that you wil regard as detestable; they may not be eaten, they aredetestable for eating: "The tawny vulture, the griffon, the osprey,13 ‘Od ptica neka su vam ove odvratne i neka se ne jedu – odvratnost su: orao, orao strvinar i jastreb,
the kite, the various kinds of buzzard,14 tetrijeb i sokol bilo koje vrste;
all kinds of raven,15 gavran svih vrsta;
the ostrich, the screech owl, the seagul , the various kinds of hawk,16 noj, kobac i galeb; lastavica svake vrste;
horned owl, night owl, cormorant, barn owl,17 sova, gnjurac, ušara,
ibis, pelican, white vulture,18 labud, pelikan, droplja;
stork, the various kinds of heron, the hoopoe and the bat.19 roda, čaplja svake vrste; pupavac i šišmiš.’
"Al winged insects moving on four feet you wil regard as detestable for eating.20 ‘Svi krilati kukci što hodaju četveronoške neka su vam odvratni!
Of al these winged insects you may eat only the fol owing: those with the sort of legs above their feetwhich enable them to leap over the ground.21 Od svih tih krilatih kukaca što hodaju četveronoške možete jesti samo one koji imaju na svojim nožicama listove za skakutanje po zemlji.
These are the ones you may eat: the various kinds of migratory locust, the various kinds of solhamlocust, hargol locust and hagab locust.22 Od njih možete jesti: svaku vrstu skakavaca, cvrčaka i zrikavaca.
But al other winged insects on four feet you wil regard as detestable for eating.23 A svi drugi krilati kukci na četiri nožice neka su vam odvratni!
"By the fol owing you wil be made unclean. Anyone who touches the carcase of one wil be uncleanuntil evening.24 I od njih ćete se onečistiti: tko se god dotakne njihove crkotine, neka je nečist do večeri;
Anyone who picks up their carcases must wash his clothing and wil be unclean until evening.25 tko god ponese crkotinu bilo koje od njih, neka opere svoju odjeću i nečistim se smatra do večeri;
Animals that have hoofs, but not cloven, and that are not ruminant, you wil regard as unclean;anyone who touches them will be unclean.26 i životinje s nerazdvojenim papkom što ne preživaju za vas su nečiste, i tko ih se dotakne, neka je nečist!
Those four-footed animals which walk on the flat of their paws you wil regard as unclean; anyonewho touches their carcases wil be unclean until evening,27 Onda, četveronožne životinje koje hodaju na četiri šape za vas su nečiste. Tko se dotakne njihova strva, neka je nečist do večeri.
and anyone who picks up their carcases must wash his clothing and wil be unclean until evening.You will regard them as unclean.28 A onaj koji ponese njihov strv, neka opere svoju odjeću i bude nečist do večeri. Za vas su one nečiste.’
"Of the smal creatures which crawl along the ground, these are the ones which you wil regard asunclean: the mole, the rat, the various kinds of lizard:29 ‘Od životinja što po zemlji gmižu neka su za vas ove nečiste: krtica, miš i svaka vrsta guštera;
gecko, koah, letaah, chameleon and tinshamet.30 zidni macaklin, kameleon, daždevnjak, zelembać i tinšamet.
"Of al the smal creatures, these are the animals which you must regard as disgusting. Anyone whotouches them when they are dead will be unclean until evening.31 Te su životinje od svih što gmižu za vas nečiste. Tko ih se mrtvih dotakne neka je nečist do večeri.
"Any object on which one of these creatures fal s when it is dead becomes unclean: wooden utensil,clothing, skin, sacking, any utensil whatever. It must be immersed in water and wil remain unclean until evening:then it wil be clean.32 A na što koja od njih mrtva padne, neka je onečišćeno: bio to kakav drveni predmet ili odjeća, koža ili vreća. Svaki takav predmet koji se upotrebljava neka se zamoči u vodu i ostane nečist do večeri. Onda će postati čist.
If the creature fal s into an earthenware vessel, the vessel must be broken; whatever the vesselcontains is unclean.33 Upadne li što od njih u kakvu zemljanu posudu, razbijte je; sve je u njoj onečišćeno.
Any edible food wil be unclean if the water touches it; any drinkable liquid will be unclean, no matterwhat its container.34 A bilo kakva hrana što se jede, ako na nju kapne voda iz te posude, bit će onečišćena. Svaka tekućina što se pije u svakoj takvoj posudi neka se smatra nečistom.
Anything on which the carcase of such a creature may fal wil be unclean: be it oven or stove, it mustbe destroyed; for they are unclean and you wil regard them as unclean35 A sve na što padne bilo što od njihove crkotine neka je nečisto; bude li to peć ili ognjište, neka se sruše: onečišćeni su za vas i neka nečisti budu.
(although springs, wel s and stretches of water wil remain clean); anyone who touches one of theircarcases wil be unclean.36 A vrelo ili čatrnja koja drži vodu neka se smatraju čistima. Ali tko dirne strvinu životinje neka je nečist.
If one of their carcases fal s on any kind of seed, the seed will remain clean;37 Ako što od njihova strva padne na žitno sjemenje što će se sijati, ono ostaje čisto;
but if the seed has been moistened and one of their carcases fal s on it, you wil regard it as unclean.38 ali ako se sjemenje nakvasi vodom, a onda na nj padne što od njihove crkotine, neka je za vas nečisto.
"If one of the animals that you use as food dies, anyone who touches the carcase wil be unclean untilevening;39 Ako ugine koja životinja što vam služi za hranu, onaj koji dotakne njezinu strvinu neka je nečist do večeri;
anyone who eats any of the carcase must wash his clothing and will remain unclean until evening;anyone who picks up the carcase must wash his clothing and wil remain unclean until evening.40 a koji pojede od njezine strvine neka opere svoju odjeću i bude nečist do večeri; koji ponese njezinu strvinu neka opere svoju odjeću i bude nečist do večeri.
"Any creature that swarms on the ground is detestable for eating; it must not be eaten.41 Svaka životinja što po tlu gmiže odvratna je. Neka se ne jede!
Anything that moves on its bel y, anything that moves on four legs or more -- in short all the creaturesthat swarm on the ground -- you will not eat, since they are detestable.42 Ništa što puže na trbuhu, ništa što god ide na četiri noge ili na više nogu – nikakve puzavce što po tlu gmižu nemojte jesti jer su odvratni!
Do not make yourselves detestable with al these swarming creatures; do not defile yourselves withthem, do not be defiled by them.43 Nemojte sami sebe poganiti svim tim puzavcima što gmižu; ne prljajte se njima, da i vi zbog njih ne postanete nečisti.
For it is I, Yahweh, who am your God. You have been sanctified and have become holy because I amholy: do not defile yourselves with all these creatures that swarm on the ground.44 Ta ja – Jahve – Bog sam vaš! Posvećujte se, dakle, da sveti budete, jer svet sam ja! Nijednim se puzavcem što po tlu gmiže ne prljajte!
Yes, it is I, Yahweh, who brought you out of Egypt to be your God: you must therefore be holybecause I am holy." '45 Jest, ja sam Jahve; izveo sam vas iz zemlje egipatske da vam budem Bog. Budite, dakle, sveti jer sam svet ja!’«
Such is the law concerning animals, birds, al living creatures that move in water and al creaturesthat swarm on the ground.46 To je odredba koja se odnosi na ptice i sva živa bića što se u vodi kreću i na sve stvorove koji po zemlji gmižu.
Its purpose is to distinguish the clean from the unclean, the creatures that may be eaten from thosethat may not be eaten.47 Svrha joj je da se razlikuje nečisto od čistoga; životinja koja se može jesti od životinje koja se ne smije jesti.
