Isaiah 24

NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 See how Yahweh lays the earth waste, makes it a desert, buckles its surface, scatters its inhabitants,	1 Voici que Yahvé dévaste la terre et la ravage, il en bouleverse la face et en disperse les habitants.
2 priest and people alike, master and slave, mistress and maid, seller and buyer, lender and borrower,creditor and debtor.	2 Il en sera du prêtre comme du peuple, du maître comme de l'esclave, de la maîtresse comme de laservante, du vendeur comme de l'acheteur, du prêteur comme de l'emprunteur, du débiteur comme du créancier.
3 Ravaged, ravaged the earth wil be, despoiled, despoiled, for Yahweh has uttered this word.	3 Dévastée, dévastée sera la terre, elle sera pillée, pillée, car Yahvé a prononcé cette parole.

6 That is why the curse has consumed the earth and its inhabitants pay the penalty, that is why theinhabitants of the earth have been burnt up and few people are left.	6 C'est pourquoi la malédiction a dévoré la terre, et ses habitants en subissent la peine; c'est pourquoiles habitants de la terre ont été consumés, il ne reste que peu d'hommes.
7 The new wine is mourning, the vine is withering away, the once merry-hearted are sighing.	7 Le vin nouveau est en deuil, la vigne s'étiole, ils gémissent, ceux qui avaient le coeur en fête.
8 The cheerful sound of tambourines is silent, the sound of revel ing is over, the cheerful sound of theharp is silent.	8 Le son allègre des tambourins s'est tu, les fêtes bruyantes ont pris fin, le son allègre du kinnor s'est tu.
9 No more wil they sing over their wine, liquor wil taste bitter to the drinker.	9 On ne boit plus de vin en chantant, la boisson est amère à ceux qui la boivent.
10 The city of nothingness is in ruins, every house is shut, no one can enter.	10 Elle est en ruines, la cité du néant, toute maison est fermée, on ne peut entrer.
11 People shout in the streets to try to get wine; al joy has vanished, happiness has been banished fromthe country.	11 On crie dans les rues pour avoir du vin, toute joie a disparu: l'allégresse du pays a été bannie.
12 Nothing but rubble in the city, the gate has col apsed in ruins.	12 Dans la ville, ce n'est que décombres, la porte s'est effondrée en ruines.
13 For at the heart of earth's life, among the peoples, it is as at the beating of the olive trees, as at thegleaning of the grapes when the grape harvest is over.	13 Car il en est au milieu de la terre, parmi les peuples, comme au gaulage de l'olivier, comme pour lesgrappillons quand est finie la vendange.
14 They raise their voices, shouting for joy, in Yahweh's honour they shout from the west.	14 Mais ceux-ci élèvent la voix, ils crient de joie, en l'honneur de Yahvé ils clament depuis l'occident.
15 'Yes, in the east, give glory to Yahweh, in the islands of the sea, to the name of Yahweh, God ofIsrael!'	15 "Oui, à l'orient, glorifiez Yahvé, dans les îles de la mer, le nom de Yahvé, le Dieu d'Israël."
16 We have heard psalms from the remotest parts of earth, 'Glory to the Upright One!' But I thought,'What an ordeal, what an ordeal! What misery for me!' The traitors have betrayed, the traitors have acted mosttreacherously.	16 Des confins de la terre nous avons entendu desIsaïe Psaumes, "gloire au Juste." Mais j'ai dit: "Quelle épreuve pour moi! quelle épreuve pour moi! malheur àmoi!" Les traîtres ont trahi, les traîtres ont tramé la trahison!
17 Fear, the pit and the snare for you, inhabitants of the city!	17 Frayeur, fosse, filet pour toi, habitant de la terre.
18 And whoever flees from the cry of fear wil fal into the pit, and whoever climbs out of the pit will becaught in the snare. Yes, the sluice-gates above are open, the foundations of the earth are quaking.	18 Et celui qui fuira devant le cri de frayeur tombera dans la fosse, et celui qui remontera de la fossesera pris dans le filet. Oui, les vannes d'en haut se sont ouvertes, les fondements de la terre ont tremblé.
19 A cracking, the earth cracks open, a jolting, the earth gives a jolt, a lurching, the earth lurchesbackwards and forwards.	19 Un brisement, la terre s'est brisée, un sursaut, la terre a sursauté, un vacillement, la terre a vacillé.

21 When that day comes, Yahweh wil punish the armies of the sky above and on earth the kings of theearth;	21 Et il arrivera, en ce jour-là, que Yahvé visitera l'armée d'en haut, en haut, et les rois de la terre, sur laterre.
