Proverbs 3

NEW JERUSALEM	Biblija Hrvatski
1 My child, do not forget my teaching, let your heart keep my principles,	1 Sine moj, ne zaboravljaj moje pouke, i tvoje srce neka čuva moje zapovijedi,
2 since they will increase your length of days, your years of life and your wel -being.	2 jer će ti produljiti dane i životne godine i podariti spokojstvo.
3 Let faithful love and constancy never leave you: tie them round your neck, write them on the tablet ofyour heart.	3 Neka te ne ostavljaju dobrota i vjernost, objesi ih sebi oko vrata, upiši ih na ploču srca svoga.
4 Thus you will find favour and success in the sight of God and of people.	4 Tako ćeš steći ugled i uspjeti pred Božjim i ljudskim očima.
5 Trust wholeheartedly in Yahweh, put no faith in your own perception;	5 Uzdaj se u Jahvu svim srcem i ne oslanjaj se na vlastiti razbor.
6 acknowledge him in every course you take, and he wil see that your paths are smooth.	6 Misli na nj na svim svojim putovima i on će ispraviti tvoje staze.
7 Do not congratulate yourself on your own wisdom, fear Yahweh and turn your back on evil:	7 Ne umišljaj da si mudar: boj se Jahve i kloni se zla.
8 health-giving, this, to your body, relief to your bones.	8 To će biti lijek tvome tijelu i okrepa tvojim kostima.
9 Honour Yahweh with what goods you have and with the first-fruits of al your produce;	9 Časti Jahvu svojim blagom i prvinama svega svojeg prirasta.
10 then your barns will be fil ed with corn, your vats overflowing with new wine.	10 I tvoje će žitnice biti prepune i tvoje će se kace prelijevati novim vinom.
11 My child, do not scorn correction from Yahweh, do not resent his reproof;	11 Sine moj, ne odbacuj Jahvine opomene i nemoj da ti omrzne njegov ukor.
12 for Yahweh reproves those he loves, as a father the child whom he loves.	12 Jer koga Jahve ljubi onoga i kori, kao otac sina koga voli.
13 Blessed are those who have discovered wisdom, those who have acquired understanding!	13 Radosti mudraca Blago čovjeku koji je stekao mudrost i čovjeku koji je zadobio razboritost.
14 Gaining her is more rewarding than silver, her yield is more valuable than gold.	14 Jer bolje je steći nju nego steći srebro, i veći je dobitak ona i od zlata.
15 She is beyond the price of pearls, nothing you could covet is her equal.	15 Skupocjenija je od bisera, i što je god tvojih dragocjenosti, s njome se porediti ne mogu;
16 In her right hand is length of days; in her left hand, riches and honour.	16 dug joj je život u desnoj ruci, a u lijevoj bogatstvo i čast.
17 Her ways are filled with delight, her paths al lead to contentment.	17 Njezini su putovi putovi miline i sve su njene staze pune spokoja.
18 She is a tree of life for those who hold her fast, those who cling to her live happy lives.	18 Životno je drvo onima koji se nje drže i sretan je onaj tko je zadrži.
19 In wisdom, Yahweh laid the earth's foundations, in understanding he spread out the heavens.	19 Jahve je mudrošću utemeljio zemlju i umom utvrdio nebesa;
20 Through his knowledge the depths were cleft open, and the clouds distil the dew.	20 njegovim su se znanjem otvorili bezdani i oblaci osuli rosom.
21 My child, hold to sound advice and prudence, never let them out of sight;	21 Sine moj, ne gubi to iz očiju, sačuvaj razbor i oprez.
22 they wil give life to your soul and beauty to your neck.	22 I bit će život tvojoj duši i ures vratu tvome.
23 You wil go on your way in safety, your feet wil not stumble.	23 Bez straha ćeš tada kročiti svojim putem i noga ti se neće spoticati.
24 When you go to bed, you wil not be afraid; once in bed, your sleep will be sweet.	24 Kad legneš, nećeš se plašiti, i kad zaspiš, slatko ćeš snivati.
25 Have no fear either of sudden terror or of attack mounted by wicked men,	25 Ne boj se nenadane strahote ni nagle propasti kad stigne bezbožnike.
26 since Yahweh will be your guarantor, he wil keep your steps from the snare.	26 Jer će ti Jahve biti uzdanje i čuvat će nogu tvoju od zamke.
27 Refuse no kindness to those who have a right to it, if it is in your power to perform it.	27 Ne uskrati dobročinstva potrebitim kad god to možeš učiniti.
28 Do not say to your neighbour, 'Go away! Come another time! I will give it you tomorrow,' if you can do itnow.	28 Ne reci svome bližnjemu: »Idi i dođi opet, sutra ću ti dati«, kad možeš već sada.
29 Do not plot harm against your neighbour who is living unsuspecting beside you.	29 Ne kuj zla svome bližnjemu dok on bez straha kod tebe boravi.
30 Do not pick a groundless quarrel with anyone who has done you no harm.	30 Ne pravdaj se ni s kim bez razloga ako ti nije učinio nikakva zla.
31 Do not envy the man of violence, never model your conduct on his;	31 Nemoj zavidjeti nasilniku niti slijediti njegove pute,
32 for the wilful wrong-doer is abhorrent to Yahweh, who confides only in the honest.	32 jer su Jahvi mrski pokvarenjaci, a prisan je s pravednima.
33 Yahweh's curse lies on the house of the wicked, but he blesses the home of the upright.	33 Jahvino je prokletstvo na domu bezbožnika, a blagoslov u stanu pravednika.
34 He mocks those who mock, but accords his favour to the humble.	34 S podsmjevačima on se podsmijeva, a poniznima dariva milost.
35 Glory is the portion of the wise, all that fools inherit is contempt.	35 Mudri će baštiniti čast, a bezumnici snositi sramotu.
