1 Saul discussed his intention of killing David with his son Jonathan and with all his servants. But Saul's son Jonathan, who was very fond of David,	1 Saul falou a Jónatas, seu filho, e a todos os seus servos, para que matassem Davide, mas Jónatas, filho de Saul, amava extremosamente Davide.
2 told him: "My father Saul is trying to kill you. Therefore, please be on your guard tomorrow morning; get out of sight and remain in hiding.	2 Jónatas avisou Davide, dizendo: Saul, meu pai, procura matar-te, por isso rogo-te que te guardes amanhã de manhã, te retires a um lugar oculto, onde te escondas.
3 I, however, will go out and stand beside my father in the countryside where you are, and will speak to him about you. If I learn anything, I will let you know."	3 Eu sairei e conservar-me-ei junto de meu pai no campo onde tu estiveres, falarei de ti a meu pai e te avisarei de tudo o que souber.
4 Jonathan then spoke well of David to his father Saul, saying to him: "Let not your majesty sin against his servant David, for he has committed no offense against you, but has helped you very much by his deeds.	4 Jónatas, pois, falou em favor de Davide a Saul, seu pai, e disse-lhe: Não peques, ó rei, contra Davide, teu servo, porque ele não pecou contra ti, e os seus serviços foram-te muito úteis.
5 When he took his life in his hands and slew the Philistine, and the LORD brought about a great victory for all Israel through him, you were glad to see it. Why, then, should you become guilty of shedding innocent blood by killing David without cause?"	5 Expôs a sua vida ao perigo, matou o Filisteu , e o Senhor salvou (por meio dele) todo o Israel por um modo maravilhoso; tu o viste e te alegraste. Por que queres, pois, pecar contra sangue inocente, matando Davide, que não tem culpa?
6 Saul heeded Jonathan's plea and swore, "As the LORD lives, he shall not be killed."	6 Saul, tendo ouvido isto, aplacado com as razões de Jónatas, jurou: Viva o Senhor, que ele não morrerá.
7 So Jonathan summoned David and repeated the whole conversation to him. Jonathan then brought David to Saul, and David served him as before.	7 Jónatas chamou, pois, Davide, e contou-lhe todas estas coisas; a seguir, levou-o à presença de Saul, e (Davide) ficou vivendo junto dele, como antes.
8 When war broke out again, David went out to fight against the Philistines and inflicted a great defeat upon them, putting them to flight.	8 Quando recomeçou a guerra, Davide, saindo, com­bateu contra os Filisteus, fazendo neles grande destroço e obrigando-os a fugir diante dele
9 Then an evil spirit from the LORD came upon Saul as he was sitting in his house with spear in hand and David was playing the harp nearby.	9 E o espírito maligno, mandado pelo Senhor, apoderou-se de Saul. Estava este sentado em sua casa, com um a lança na mão, e David e tocava harpa.
10 Saul tried to nail David to the wall with the spear, but David eluded Saul, so that the spear struck only the wall, and David got away safe.	10 Saul tentou atravessar Davide com a lança contra a parede, mas Davide desviou-se, e a lança, sem o ofender, foi cravar se na parede. Davide fugiu e salvou-se aquela noite.
11 The same night, Saul sent messengers to David's house to guard it, that he might kill him in the morning. David's wife Michal informed him, "Unless you save yourself tonight, tomorrow you will be killed."	11 Mandou, pois, Saul os seus guardas a casa de Davide para lho terem seguro e para ser morto pela manhã. Porém Davide foi avisado por Micol, sua mulher, que lhe disse: Se te não puseres a salvo esta noite, amanhã morrerás.
12 Then Michal let David down through a window, and he made his escape in safety.	12 Ela fê-lo descer por uma janela, e ele fugiu e salvou-se.
13 Michal took the household idol and laid it in the bed, putting a net of goat's hair at its head and covering it with a spread.	13 Em seguida Micol tomou uma estátua, deitou-a em cima da cama, pôs-lhe ao redor da cabeça uma pele de cabra com o pêlo, e cobriu-a com a roupa.
14 When Saul sent messengers to arrest David, she said, "He is sick."	14 Saul mandou guardas para prenderem Davide, mas foi-lhes respondido que estava doente.
15 Saul, however, sent the messengers back to see David and commanded them, "Bring him up to me in the bed, that I may kill him."	15 Saul mandou segunda vez mensageiros com ordens de ver Davide, dizendo-lhes: Trazei-mo no seu mesmo leito, para ser morto.
16 But when the messengers entered, they found the household idol in the bed, with the net of goat's hair at its head.	16 Tendo chegado os mensageiros, encontraram em cima da cama a estátua que tinha em roda da cabeça uma pele de cabra.
17 Saul therefore asked Michal: "Why did you play this trick on me? You have helped my enemy to get away!" Michal answered Saul: "He threatened me, 'Let me go or I will kill you.'"	17 Saul disse a Micol: Por que me enganaste assim e deixaste fugir o meu inimigo? Micol respondeu a Saul: Porque ele me disse: Deixa-me ir, senão matar-te-ei.
18 Thus David got safely away; he went to Samuel in Ramah, informing him of all that Saul had done to him. Then he and Samuel went to stay in the sheds.	18 Davide, pois, fugiu e pôs-se a salvo. Foi ter com Samuel a Rama e contou-lhe tudo o que Saul lhe tinha feito. Depois retiraram-se, ele e Samuel, e habitaram em Naiot.
19 When Saul was told that David was in the sheds near Ramah,	19 Noticiaram a Saul: Davide está em Naiot de Rama.
20 he sent messengers to arrest David. But when they saw the band of prophets, presided over by Samuel, in a prophetic frenzy, they too fell into the prophetic state.	20 Saul mandou guardas para prenderem Davide, mas tendo eles visto um grupo de profetas que profetizavam , com Samuel à frente, o Espírito do Senhor apoderou-se também deles, e começaram também a profetizar.
21 Informed of this, Saul sent other messengers, who also fell into the prophetic state. For the third time Saul sent messengers, but they too fell into the prophetic state.	21 Tendo isto sido contado a Saul, mandou outros mensageiros, mas estes também profetizaram. De novo mandou Saul terceiros mensageiros, mas também estes profetizaram. Então Saul, cheio de cólera,
22 Saul then went to Ramah himself. Arriving at the cistern of the threshing floor on the bare hilltop, he inquired, "Where are Samuel and David?", and was told, "At the sheds near Ramah."	22 foi ele próprio a Rama, chegou até à grande cisterna, que há em Soco, e perguntou: Em que lugar estão Samuel e Davide? Foi-lhe respondido: Estão em Naiot de Rama.
23 As he set out from the hilltop toward the sheds, the spirit of God came upon him also, and he continued on in a prophetic condition until he reached the spot. At the sheds near Ramah	23 Partiu para Naiot de Rama, mas apoderou-se também dele o Espírlto do Senhor, e ia andando, e profetizando (por todo o caminho) até que chegou a Naiot de Rama.
24 he, too, stripped himself of his garments and he, too, remained in the prophetic state in the presence of Samuel; all that day and night he lay naked. That is why they say, "Is Saul also among the prophets?"	24 (Chegando lá ) despojou-se também ele das suas vestes, e profetizou com os outros diante de Samuel, e esteve nú, por terra, aquele dia e aquela noite. Daqui tomou origem o provérbio: Também Saul entre os profetas?
