1 The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave to him, to show his servants what must happen soon. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John,	1 Rivelazione di Gesù Cristo, che Dio gli diede per mostrare ai suoi servi ciò che deve avvenire presto, e che significò inviandone l’annunzio mediante il suo angelo al suo servo Giovanni,
2 who gives witness to the word of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ by reporting what he saw.	2 il quale testimoniò la parola di Dio e la testimonianza di Gesù Cristo, quanto cioè vide.
3 Blessed is the one who reads aloud and blessed are those who listen to this prophetic message and heed what is written in it, for the appointed time is near.	3 Beato colui che legge e coloro che ascoltano le parole della profezia e osservano le cose scritte in essa! Il tempo infatti è vicino.
4 John, to the seven churches in Asia: grace to you and peace from him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven spirits before his throne,	4 Giovanni alle sette Chiese che sono nell’Asia. Grazia a voi e pace da parte di colui che è e che era e che viene, e da parte dei sette spiriti che sono dinanzi al trono di lui,
5 and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead and ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood,	5 e da parte di Gesù Cristo, il testimone fedele, il primogenito dei morti e il capo dei re della terra. A colui che ci ama e che ci ha prosciolti dai peccati nostri nel suo sangue,
6 who has made us into a kingdom, priests for his God and Father, to him be glory and power forever (and ever). Amen.	6 e ha fatto di noi un regno, dei sacerdoti per Iddio suo Padre, a lui la gloria e il dominio nei secoli dei secoli. Amen.
7 Behold, he is coming amid the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him. All the peoples of the earth will lament him. Yes. Amen.	7 Ecco, viene con le nubi, e lo vedrà ogni occhio e quanti lo hanno trafitto, e gemeranno su di lui tutte le tribù della terra; sì, amen.
8 "I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God, "the one who is and who was and who is to come, the almighty."	8 Sono io l’alfa e l’Omega, dice il Signore Dio, colui che è e che era e che viene, il dominatore universale.
9 I, John, your brother, who share with you the distress, the kingdom, and the endurance we have in Jesus, found myself on the island called Patmos because I proclaimed God's word and gave testimony to Jesus.	9 Io Giovanni, fratello vostro e vostro compartecipe nella tribolazione e nel regno e nella perseveranza in Gesù, mi trovai nell’isola chiamata Patmos a causa della parola di Dio e della testimonianza di Gesù.
10 I was caught up in spirit on the Lord's day and heard behind me a voice as loud as a trumpet,	10 Mi trovai rapito in spirito, nel giorno del Signore, e udii una voce potente, come di tromba, che gridava dietro di me:
11 which said, "Write on a scroll what you see and send it to the seven churches: to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea."	11 «Ciò che vedi, scrivilo in un libro, e manda il libro alle sette Chiese: a Efeso, a Smirne, a Pergamo, a Tiatira, a Sardi, a Filadelfia, a Laodicea».
12 Then I turned to see whose voice it was that spoke to me, and when I turned, I saw seven gold lampstands	12 Mi voltai per vedere la voce che parlava con me; e, voltatomi, vidi sette lampade d’oro,
13 and in the midst of the lampstands one like a son of man, wearing an ankle-length robe, with a gold sash around his chest.	13 e in mezzo alle lampade vidi uno simile a figlio d’uomo, vestito di un abito talare e cinto all’altezza del petto con una cintura d’oro.
14 The hair of his head was as white as white wool or as snow, and his eyes were like a fiery flame.	14 La sua testa e i capelli, bianchi come lana bianca, come neve; e i suoi occhi come fiamma di fuoco,
15 His feet were like polished brass refined in a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of rushing water.	15 e le sue gambe somiglianti a bronzo prezioso fuso, come se ardessero in una fornace, e la sua voce come fragore di molte acque;
16 In his right hand he held seven stars. A sharp two-edged sword came out of his mouth, and his face shone like the sun at its brightest.	16 e nella sua mano destra aveva sette stelle, e dalla sua bocca usciva una spada appuntita a doppio taglio; e il suo aspetto era come il sole quando risplende appieno.
17 When I caught sight of him, I fell down at his feet as though dead. He touched me with his right hand and said, "Do not be afraid. I am the first and the last,	17 Quando lo vidi, caddi come morto ai suol piedi. Pose allora la sua destra su di me dicendo: «Non temere. Sono io il primo e l'ultimo,
18 the one who lives. Once I was dead, but now I am alive forever and ever. I hold the keys to death and the netherworld.	18 e il vivente, e fui morto, ed eccomi vivente per i secoli dei secoli; ed ho le chiavi della morte e dell’ade.
19 Write down, therefore, what you have seen, and what is happening, and what will happen afterwards.	19 Scrivi dunque le cose che avrai veduto, quelle che sono e quale che stanno per accadere dopo queste.
20 This is the secret meaning of the seven stars you saw in my right hand, and of the seven gold lampstands: the seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches.	20 Il mistero delle sette stelle che hai viste sulla mia destra assieme alle sette lampade d'oro, è: le sette stelle sono gli angeli delle sette Chiese, le sette lampade sono le sette Chiese.
