1 Concerning Moab, thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Woe to Nebo, it is laid waste; Kiriathaim is disgraced and captured, Disgraced and overthrown is the stronghold:	1 Riguardo a Moab, così dice il Signore degli eserciti, Dio di Israele: "Guai a Nebo perché è saccheggiata, vergognosamente è presa Kiriatàim: è svergognata la roccaforte e spaventata.
2 Moab's glory is no more. Evil they plan against Heshbon: "Come, let us put an end to her as a people." You, too, Madmen, shall be reduced to silence; behind you stalks the sword.	2 Non c'è più la gloria di Moab: in Chesbòn han programmato contro di essa sventura: venite e distruggiamola, che non sia più nazione. Anche tu, Madmèn, tacerai, dietro te cammina la spada.
3 Listen! a cry from Horonaim of ruin and great destruction!	3 Voce di grida da Coronàim, devastazione e rovina grande!
4 Moab is crushed, their outcry is heard in Zoar.	4 Spezzata è Moab: fan sentire il grido i suoi piccoli.
5 The ascent of Luhith they climb weeping; On the descent to Horonaim the cry of destruction is heard.	5 Sì, la salita di Luchìt nel pianto si ascende e nella discesa di Coronàim grida di rovina si odono!
6 "Flee, save your lives, to survive like the wild ass in the desert!"	6 Fuggite, scampate la vostra vita e siate come asino selvatico nel deserto.
7 Because you trusted in your works and your treasures, you also shall be captured. Chemosh shall go into exile, his priests and princes with him.	7 Sì, perché hai posto la tua fiducia nelle tue opere e nei tuoi tesori, anche tu sarai presa e andrà Camos in esilio, insieme ai suoi sacerdoti e ai suoi prìncipi.

10 (Cursed be he who does the LORD'S work remissly, cursed he who holds back his sword from blood.)	10 Maledetto chi esegue l'opera del Signore fiaccamente e maledetto chi trattiene la sua spada dal sangue!
11 Moab has been tranquil from his youth, has rested upon his lees; He was not poured from one flask to another, he went not into exile. 19 Stand by the wayside, watch closely, you that dwell in Aroer; Ask the man who flees, the woman who tries to escape: say to them, "What has happened?"	19 Lungo la strada fermati e osserva, abitante di Aroer: interroga fuggiasco o scampato, chiedi: cosa è successo?

26 Because he boasted against the LORD, make Moab drunk so that he retches and vomits, and he too becomes a laughingstock.	26 Ubriacatelo, perché si è fatto grande contro il Signore; si avvoltoli Moab nel suo vomito e divenga motivo di derisione anch'esso.
27 Is Israel a laughingstock to you? Was she caught among thieves, that you shake your head whenever you speak of her?	27 Forse che Israele non è stato per te una risata? E' stato trovato, forse, tra i ladri, che in ogni tua parola contro di lui scrolli la tua testa?
28 Leave the cities, dwell in the crags, you that dwell in Moab. Be like a dove that nests out of reach on the edge of a chasm.	28 Abbandonate le città e dimorate tra le rocce, o abitanti di Moab, e siate come colomba che nidifica tra le pareti del precipizio.
29 We have heard of the pride of Moab, pride beyond bounds: His loftiness, his pride, his scorn, his insolence of heart.	29 Abbiamo udito la superbia di Moab, è superbo assai! la sua alterigia, la sua superbia e il suo orgoglio e l'arroganza del suo cuore.
30 I know, says the LORD, his arrogance; liar in boast, liar in deed.	30 Io conosco, oracolo del Signore, la sua rabbia: non ha consistenza; i suoi discorsi: impossibile che si realizzino.
31 And so I wail over Moab, over all Moab I cry, over the men of Kir-heres I moan.	31 Per questo su Moab c'è lamento e per Moab intero io grido, per gli uomini di Kir-Cheres si geme!
32 More than for Jazer I weep over you, vineyard of Sibmah. Your tendrils trailed down to the sea, as far as Jazer they stretched. Upon your harvest, upon your vintage, the ravager has fallen.	32 Più che piangere Iazèr, per te piango, o vigna di Sibma! Le tue propaggini oltrepassavano il mare, a occidente di Iazèr giungevano: sulla tua vendemmia e sul tuo raccolto il devastatore è piombato,
33 Joy and jubilation are at an end in the fruit gardens of the land of Moab. I drain the wine from the wine vats, the treader treads no more, the vintage shout is stilled.	33 e fu tolta gioia e allegria dal frutteto e dal paese di Moab; il vino dai torchi ho fatto sparire, più non pigia il pigiatore e il canto non è più canto.
34 The cry of Heshbon and Elealeh is heard as far as Jahaz; they call from Zoar to Horonaim, and to Eglath-shelishiyah, for even the waters of Nimrim turn into a desert.	34 Per il clamore di Chesbòn s'è udita la loro voce fino ad Elealè, fino a Iachaz; da Zoar fino a Coronàim, a Eglat-Selisià. 35 I will leave no one in Moab, says the LORD, to offer a holocaust on the high place, or to burn incense to his gods.	35 Io farò cessare per Moab, oracolo del Signore, chi ascende le alture e chi offre incenso ai suoi dèi.
36 Hence the wail of flutes for Moab is in my heart; for the men of Kir-heres the wail of flutes is in my heart: the wealth they acquired has perished.	36 Per questo il mio cuore per Moab come flauti geme, e il mio cuore per gli uomini di Kir-Cheres come flauti geme. 38 On every roof of Moab and in all his squares there is mourning; I have shattered Moab like a pot that no one wants, says the LORD.	38 Su ogni tetto di Moab e nelle sue piazze, tutto è lamento, perché ho spezzato Moab qual vaso che non piace più, oracolo del Signore.
39 How terror seizes Moab, and wailing! How he turns his back in shame! Moab has become a laughingstock and a horror to all his neighbors!	39 Come è costernato! Ululate! Come ha voltato la schiena Moab con vergogna! In tal modo Moab è divenuto motivo di derisione e uno spavento per tutti i suoi vicini.
40 For thus says the LORD: Behold, like an eagle he soars, spreads his wings over Moab.	40 Sì, così dice il Signore: Ecco, come un'aquila egli plana e piega le sue ali su Moab!
41 Cities are taken, strongholds seized: On that day the hearts of Moab's heroes are like the heart of a woman in travail.	41 Son prese le città, le fortezze conquistate; e diverrà il cuore degli eroi di Moab, in quel giorno, come il cuore di donna in doglie!
42 Moab shall be destroyed, no more a people, because he boasted against the LORD.	42 Sarà sterminato Moab, non sarà più popolo poiché contro il Signore s'è inorgoglito.
43 Terror, pit, and trap be upon you, people of Moab, says the LORD.	43 Terrore, trabocchetto, tranello stan sopra di te, o abitante di Moab! Oracolo del Signore.
44 He who flees from the terror falls into the pit; He who climbs from the pit is caught in the trap; For I will bring these things upon Moab in the year of their punishment, says the LORD.	44 Chi fugge lontano dal terrore cadrà nel trabocchetto e chi esce dal trabocchetto sarà preso nel tranello. Sì, io farò venire contro Moab l'anno del loro castigo! Oracolo del Signore.
45 In Heshbon's shadow stop short the exhausted refugees; For fire breaks forth from Heshbon, and a blaze from the house of Sihon: It consumes the brow of Moab, the skull of the noisemakers.	45 All'ombra di Chesbòn s'arrestano senza forza i fuggitivi; ma un fuoco è uscito da Chesbòn e una fiamma di mezzo a Sicòn che ha divorato le tempia di Moab e il cranio dei figli tumultuanti.
